Chapter 692: Chapter 280: It’s Really Good to Blame Others!_3

"Check out big sis’s perfume, you’ll see what I mean."

Veronica slapped Chris on the back, and the latter nodded repeatedly. The perfume she had just bought was a pity, though, because the scent faded too soon.

"I see..."

Seeing the three of them as if facing a formidable enemy, neither advancing nor retreating, Wayne secretly felt smug and praised Saina via telepathic transmission for a job well done.

They should’ve been so wound up from the start!

Wayne’s gaze was piercing, full of oppressive force, sweeping over Veronica and Chris. The former raised her fist as a warning to Sese, and the latter bowed her head in embarrassment, softly declining. Only Verily stood tall and proud, hands on hips, brimming with bravado.

"Since we’re all here, let’s not leave tonight. Given the mood we’re in, we might as well..."

Wayne drew out his tone, then suddenly shifted: "Sit down and play cards together."

What, after all that talk, it’s just cards?

Fine, we’ll play cards!

The three of them breathed a sigh of relief simultaneously. The four resumed their card game, and Wayne suggested, just playing was boring, they should add penalties and rewards, a motive which Veronica, seeing it as impure, rejected.

Two hours later, Verily was yawning non-stop, staggering and unable to open her eyes, she collapsed and instantly fell asleep.

She went down strategically, hugging one of Wayne’s arms and lying on his chest.

She slept like a baby, unrousable by any amount of shouting.

Veronica tried to wake her up with a karate chop and didn’t succeed!

Such poor acting!

Such great acting!

Wayne silently nodded in approval. The mark of a great actor is when everyone knows you’re acting but no one calls you out on it. Considering the situation, Verily had elevated her performance to the level of an open conspiracy. Wayne decided to award her the best actress of the evening.

The best supporting actress award would go to Saina, with Veronica and Chris as runners-up.

As for the best actor, the host, which was Wayne himself, had already decided.

"Well, it’s getting late. It’s not appropriate for me to stay. You three sleep; I’ll be leaving." Wayne looked earnest, trying to free his arm from the clamp but failing after several attempts.

Watching him as if he could leave at any moment, Veronica opened her mouth, wanting to say something, then hesitated, her face turning red but unable to articulate her thoughts.

They definitely couldn’t let him walk away; outside, hungry wolves were drooling, their eyes glowing green.

But letting him stay wouldn’t do either. What if the scoundrel sneakily turned off the light!

Seeing that Veronica was useless in a critical moment, only good at internally bullying Verily but unreliable at crucial times, Chris decisively stood up.

"Wayne, let me get you a jacket."

That’s so like you, this damned tenderness!

Veronica glared at her "moon in the water" with fury. After all that, it came down to Chris, who gulped and hung her head, unable to speak up.

Meanwhile, Wayne had managed to get his arm free and was already putting on his jacket when the sleeping Verily flipped a leg and kicked Veronica’s foot.

Kerplunk B!

Looking half-believing and half-doubting, Veronica gritted her teeth, went for it, and while Wayne’s back was turned, she karate-chopped his head.

"Ow! I’m feeling so dizzy!"

Wayne stumbled about like a headless chicken, seeing nothing but blackness. His "headless body" flailed his arms wildly and staggered to the edge of the bed, collapsing right on top of Chris.

Veronica: (눈‸눈)

So it really worked. She should write this episode in her diary; it was worth savoring again and again.

It was clear that Wayne had no intention of leaving tonight. He chose them over the Old Witch, didn’t even push for a silver party, and just fainted so obligingly.

What a nice guy!

Veronica was secretly displeased. Sure, he stayed, but was Verily too understanding of Wayne? And Wayne too, why collapse on her of all places?

And big sis, since when was she so fragile she’d faint from a single press?

As Veronica was fuming, she noticed Verily, not content even in her sleep, start inching towards Wayne.

O—,O2,O—,O2...

Having reached her target, Verily didn’t stop her act even in her dreams, muttering about wanting to cuddle with big sis and then, hugging Wayne’s arm, she burrowed her head into his chest.

Their bodies were truly pressed together.

Veronica stared dumbfounded at the three people feigning sleep, suspecting that she, the only one awake, was actually the silliest one of them all.

"Hmph!"

"So you’re all pretending to sleep, huh? Alright, just try not to wake up then!"

Veronica quickly stepped forward, hugged the small trash can, and moved it to the adjacent second bedroom, not allowing him to tarnish the white moonlight nor giving him the chance to be defiled by Vili. Then, she closed her eyes with her arms around the small trash can.

Five minutes later, Wayne sleepwalked and carried Veronica back to the master bedroom.

After several tugs, Veronica felt numb and kicked the trash can under the bed.

...

The next day dawned.

Wayne, holding his back, made his way to the living room on the first floor, talking about how he’d usually feel the effect immediately every morning and claiming he couldn’t get up again, leaving those unaware to think that something really did happen last night.

Although nothing came of it, he saw a good start. Saina’s strategic significance in his heart surged rapidly, guiding him towards a bright path like a savior.

"Praise Saina, she truly is an Angel!"

Wayne had actually been awake for a while. It didn’t matter that he didn’t sleep; to save the three women’s face, he waited until they had all left the scene to finally wake up.

At this time, the kitchen was exceptionally lively. Three heads huddled together to prepare breakfast, ignoring the big chef Vili’s provocative actions leading to her demise, still creating a harmonious atmosphere.

Wayne peeked in, longing to embrace them from behind and confess deeply, "You all are my wings."

Unfortunately, he couldn’t go that far. Taking too big a step might send him flying; he was already at his limit.

Slowly does it, the progress bar is already rising!

————

July 18th, night.

Iberia, Balearic Islands.

By the seaside, the fine, soft sand extended like a golden carpet all the way to the water’s edge.

The wind blew, the green leaves rustled, producing a gentle sound. Under the dazzling stars, it intertwined with the soft lapping of the waves, composing a beautiful nocturne.

The climate of the Balearic Islands was mild and well-suited for vacations.

But the family wasn’t in the mood for a holiday, especially Hefei, who felt rather frustrated watching Megan transform into a Black Dragon and Austin into a Dark Knight, the two forming a Dragon Knight pair and flying away.

Megan didn’t resist. When Austin leapt onto the dragon’s back, there was a slight struggle before she got used to it.

Whether that struggle was real or fake, whether it was all just an act, was hard to say.

The love that protects, I guess, can be understood!

Hefei consoled herself with this thought. Megan, pure and untainted, Austin, the prodigal son returned; nothing had happened between the two who had spent sixteen years together every day and night. So both in emotion and reason, she shouldn’t doubt their loyalty to her.

But a harder test presented itself.

Her teacher Saina elegantly shed her clothes in front of Wayne, then transformed into a Green Dragon. Wayne, in turn, leapt onto the dragon’s back, his familiarity with the action clearly not his first time.

The relationship between Giant Dragons and their Knights went beyond mere cooperation. To earn a Giant Dragon’s approval, the intimacy had to be at least that of lovers, if not a married couple. Saina claimed she was just eager to improve, but Hefei didn’t buy that excuse.

What followed was Wayne calling for Veronica and Hefei to mount the dragon, earning them the achievement of riding their teacher.

That was just ridiculous!

Hefei was even more convinced that Saina allowed her and Veronica to ride simply because of Wayne. Their relationship was definitely not straightforward.

The Giant Dragon took flight, soaring toward the vast sea to the south.

Hefei heard the sound of her teeth grinding next to her and turned to pat her daughter’s head, whispering, "Tell me everything about your trip to the Church headquarters, when they met, when the Old Witch’s attitude toward him changed dramatically, and what all occurred in between?"

Do you believe it now?

It’s too late!

Veronica glanced at her mother with a look of reproach, thinking about how naive her mother was, with no clue about the cold-blooded nature of her teacher or her son’s indifference to women. "Foolish woman, when will she ever grow up to be mature like me?" she thought.

Veronica hmphed and started recounting what happened at Naturalism Church Headquarters, while the two women with golden hair analyzed together closely.

After a while and coming to no conclusion, they started over and defined it as love at first sight.

Otherwise, there was no other explanation.

"Hold on tight, I’m going to speed up..."

The Giant Dragon raised its head, its destination: the Icebound Continent!!
