Chapter 618: Chapter 258: Return to Lundan_2

Knowledge is priceless, and she must be grateful.

Apart from being busy with the Church’s work and teaching Veronica, Saina spent the rest of her time practicing fusion skills with Wayne.

It was repeatedly proven that the Dragon Knight combination was a failure; apart from looking cool and deterring enemies before battle, it had virtually no practical value.

But Wayne was reluctant to give up and persisted in training to become a Dragon Knight.

He also took the opportunity to toughen up Veronica. He was really popular, attracting girls wherever he went, and even the Old Witch Saina couldn’t resist his personal charm.

Time moved to June 2nd, Saina saw them off, and Wayne and Veronica boarded the plane to Lundan.

With bags big and small, they had a fruitful haul.

Lord Wayne was unceremonious with his underling, a noble of Lundan with the Union Jack. If it was useful, he would squeeze it dry, and these days he didn’t spare Saina’s wool.

For instance, the Drake Scale-made tight combat suits had an excellent effect in battle, and he requested several sets.

Of course, given their relationship of superiority and inferiority, the idea of Saina being fleeced doesn’t hold up. It should be seen as Saina being ambitious, earnestly offering numerous gifts to please her faith.

She’s hitting the loyalty angle hard!

Saina was a Legendary Mage, an Old Witch well over a hundred years old, her actual age at least five times that of Wayne, a veritable goldmine. There were so many aspects of her that could be exploited.

Through Saina, Wayne obtained the faith formulas of the Dark Elves; no matter how she came by them, whether or not she was acquainted with the high-ups in the Dark Church, Wayne now had the complete set of formulas.

The faith formulas for Death were difficult. According to the Great Prophet Tubie, the once Life Alliance had five major faiths. After it disbanded and re-formed, only three faiths remained: nature, the sun, and moonlight.

Without the Perfect Elf, they were imperfect, unable to communicate efficiently with nature.

In the Dark Church, there were still some Dark-Skinned Elves active, though they were few in number, not completely non-existent.

The Death Church, on the other hand, completely overturned the previous processes, eliminating the Elf formulas, and no trace of Death Spirits existed on the God-chosen Continent anymore.

The Death Church’s changes were thorough, evident just from the titles alone.

Like the Life Alliance, the Dark Church continued to use the designations of Priest and High Priest, whereas the Death Church learned from the Heavenly Father’s Court and adopted the titles of Bishop and Archbishop.

Other positions followed suit.

Saina couldn’t find the faith formula of the Death Spirits, but she was a Legendary Mage, sharp and knowledgeable, more adept at solving and answering formulas than Philomena.

Not only did she optimize Philomena’s formulas, re-editing and integrating them, she also buried herself in work to create a transformation formula for the Death Spirits and dedicated dozens of Magic Stones capable of storing Magic Power to her faith.

She was truly outstanding!

Admittedly, Philomena’s created formulas were not perfect, their energy transformation and communication efficiency with nature not as great as Tubie had boasted, but compiling the five major faiths’ Elf formulas indeed took Wayne’s Elf Form to a new level, much stronger than before.

Wayne wasn’t greedy. He’d make do with what he had for now, leaving his phone number for Saina to continue optimizing the formulas, to contact him immediately if there was any news.

On the other hand, the selection of the Holy Maiden was drawing to a close.

The Frank girl Dusa, whom Wayne knew, advanced to the last round. With support from high-level figures like Tubie and Saina, and with the recent show of weakness from the Pope, the likelihood of Dusa becoming the new Holy Maiden was very high.

Wayne’s words turned prophetic; the real next Holy Maiden was indeed living next to villa number four.

If Dusa really made it, with the last Holy Maiden Flora coming from Frank, and this time too, God bless Frank.

Out of distaste for the Church’s high-ranking officials, Wayne didn’t care much about who became the Holy Maiden. All the candidates were very capable, Veronica, Otilia, Regina, they all possessed the stature of a Holy Maiden. In a fair competition, Dusa would find it hard to beat them.

Ultimately, the Holy Maiden was just a figurehead under the power struggle. It was a good thing that Veronica wasn’t chosen.

Anyway, Wayne delayed his return to Lundan until June, partly because Saina still had more to offer, and also, May 30th was Veronica’s birthday.

Returning to Lundan before Veronica’s birthday would ensure quite the lively birthday party. Proud Dragon Blood wouldn’t flaunt her roll in the sheets with societal trash, but she would find backhanded ways to make Villy realize what had happened.

This was problematic. If Villy felt too pressured and became heartbroken, she might pull out altogether.

Wayne used the excuse of spending the birthday alone together to leave Veronica back in Austria. She didn’t think too much about it, her head filled with sweet nothings, and, in her happiness, they tumbled in the sheets a few more times.

Lundan Airport.

Wayne was surrounded by bags big and small, checking carefully to avoid any oversights.

Nearing home, Veronica became more timid, her face flushing red as she said to Wayne, "That matter... you know, don’t talk about it, you absolutely can’t tell mother or senior sister."

"Why not?"

That he could understand Hefei’s reluctance, with her thin skin, afraid of being made fun of—best to delay that revelation as long as possible.

What about Chris?

Why shouldn’t his senior sister know? Tell me, Are you still hung up on her?

Speaking of Chris, Wayne got a bit excited. He had sent a letter to the Butler Philark before coming here. Being so clever, the butler surely let slip his whereabouts inadvertently.

"It’s none of your business. Just don’t say it, or you can forget about... hmph, just don’t say it." Veronica, too embarrassed to speak, told Wayne to stop prying and to focus on studying in Austin, doing whatever Hefei says.
