Chapter 609: Chapter 256: I am the Superman_3
It’s not a big problem, she can still hold on.
"Ladies, I’ve arrived..."
Wayne opened his arms, inviting the Book of Greed to send out invitations, offering twelve unlucky sods a chance at rebirth.
[Lowly prayer, spitefully deceased, I have heard your wails...
Under the witness of the sacred contract, all that you are belongs to me, you may keep your past but will lose your future...
You have been given a chance at rebirth, you will become a Resentful Spirit, and for your master, for your god, for me, you will wield the slaughter blade]
Wayne was cheerfully waiting for the girl group to take the bait, but soon, he realized something seemed off.
There were twelve unlucky sods a few days ago, and recently two more had been added.
"You heartless bastards, can’t you keep it down a bit?"
Wayne glared at Saina, who was wrongfully accused; the Misty Hidden Forest was almost entirely the Pope’s doing, and she had never been involved in such things.
Even as an ingrate student, she had merely cut off contact, never taking a life.
"I know, but with the Pope away, you’ll have to fill in."
Wayne shrugged his shoulders; fourteen contractor agreements went out, waiting quietly for a signature from across the way.
Glancing at the two new unlucky sods, his instinctive reaction gradually darkened his expression.
He recognized these two figures, one of them excessively familiar.
"Ottilia..."
"How is this possible..."
Wayne froze on the spot, staring intently at the shadow on the page of the book, emotions violently fluctuating, life force surging around him, refreshing the forest of death that surrounded him with new life.
The thick fog of death and darkness was expelled, the forest bathed in boundless vitality, buds sprouting on branches, stretching green leaves towards the direction of the God-chosen Knight.
All was incredibly wonderful.
Saina didn’t think so; she felt a tremendous oppression from the faith above, cold intentions of murder tormenting her mind and body, making her suffer unspeakably.
She cried out in pain, collapsing helplessly to the ground, her face pale as she said, "Master, what did I do wrong?"
The next second, the pain disappeared.
Saina seemed like she’d just been fished out of water, drenched in sweat, supporting herself with trembling hands on the ground, eyes vacant and unable to focus, feeling as though she had died another death.
When she looked up again, she could no longer find Wayne’s figure.
A flash of white light streaked through the mist, leaving behind a fleeting afterimage.
As it passed, scattered energy was infused with vitality, forcibly twisting the concept of life and death, carving through the Misty Hidden Forest, leaving behind a corridor teeming with life.
Wayne briskly approached a large tree, his thoughts spreading out, sensing two buried bodies beneath the ground, expressionless, he raised his hand, carefully dragging them out from underground.
The earth churned, the chill of death’s breath permeating the surroundings.
Wayne crouched down, brushing a hand over the ice-like stiff face: "Why did it have to be you? Wouldn’t it have been fine to just stay in the library and read, instead of joining some damned Holy Maiden selection..."
Suddenly, Wayne thought of something, hastily holding his breath, his fingertips spreading out, emitting a blazing life force like flames.
A gentle energy roamed throughout Ottilia’s entire body, driving away the deathly chill and infusing new life. Her greyish skin returned to smoothness, flesh and cells reanimated, with her heart in her chest slowly beginning to beat.
Warm!
Wayne was overwhelmed with joy, madly applauding the three female teachers. Without their sisterly affection, the pure Naturalist Knight definitely wouldn’t have had such a move to reverse life and death.
Before long, Wayne’s smile once again sank.
No matter how much life force was injected, it could only revive Ottilia’s body; her mind was not present, lingering nearby in the form of a Resentful Spirit.
"Impossible!"
Wayne snorted coldly, inserting the Elemental Mantra into the ground with a reverse hand, stepping out of the Naturalist Knight’s Vest System, drawing Shadowmare and Twilight Deadlock one after another.
Three Divine Artifacts of the God-chosen Knight appeared simultaneously, the spectacle was magnificent, and Saina, who had followed, was dumbfounded.
Watching the Death Knight transform the Resentful Spirit into a normal soul and personally guide the soul into the body, she held her breath, not daring to make a sound.
Saina wanted to tell Wayne, there was no need to waste effort—the boundaries of life and death represent the beginning and the end, even a God-chosen Knight could not break through the boundary to complete the cycle.
That girl was already dead.
Daring to think it, but not say it, for fear of becoming a venting outlet.
As Saina had thought, Wayne tried several times, unable to truly awaken Ottilia.
Ottilia, free from her Resentful Spirit state, her soul touched Wayne, watching the three God-chosen Knights hopping around excitedly, her little mouth forming an O shape, looking endearingly translucent.
Wayne didn’t find it cute; he was full of heartache, the bony hand of death reached out, passing through the translucent face: "Sorry, I’m late."
Ottilia smiled faintly, grasping the bony hand against her translucent face, finding solace from the resentment, her body becoming even more transparent.
"Fool, who let you be satisfied!"
"Give me your hatred, remember your resentment, remember the agony of death, live on with curses and ugliness!"
Wayne was nearly scared to death, hastily signing Ottilia’s contract, securing the third Resentful Spirit just before she vanished.
It was close, Ottilia was almost truly gone.
"Ha! Ha, ha———"
In Saina’s astonished gaze, the ’corpse’ sat up abruptly, gasping for air greedily. She patted the mud off her body, hugging the Death Knight, hopping and jumping around.
"Wayne, you’re actually the Death Knight!"
"And also the Dark Knight, the Naturalist Knight... what kind of monster are you, how come you never mentioned this before?"
"What’s the deal with being a Resentful Spirit, having signed this master-servant contract, you won’t be mean to me later, right?"
