Chapter 556: Chapter 239: The Third Dragon Blood Strengthening
Alex watched the Lundan siblings leave and shook his head slightly; he was too enthusiastic and definitely not cut out for dealing with people like them.
"Why did you just agree to an alliance?"
Dusa kicked her brother, "That guy named Wayne is not honest. Talk less with him in the future; you have no vigilance at all. You might get sold out without even knowing it."
Alex nodded; his sister had always been smart since she was young. If she said Wayne was not honest, he definitely wasn’t.
"And that Veronica, there’s something weird about the relationship between those siblings..."
Dusa kicked her brother again. Frowning and at a loss for words, she gestured a few times, "Like siblings but not quite, just very strange, maybe they are cousins!"
"What’s the difference? Wayne is guarding his sister to become the Holy Maiden, and Veronica is the real candidate; knowing that is enough."
Alex told his sister not to overthink it. At least Wayne was right about one thing—this was Prussia, where the group of six would band together to weed out other candidates. If they didn’t want to be eliminated early, they had to form an alliance.
The villa’s arrangement proved this point as well; headquarters wanted to see the competition escalate, thereby deciding the most outstanding Holy Maiden.
"That’s true."
Dusa nodded in agreement. With a powerful adversary like Prussia looming, the century-old friendship between Windsor and Frank was unbreakable; their only option was to form an alliance.
"You can trust them in the early stages of the alliance, but forget it later on. Don’t get too emotionally invested, thinking you’ve made friends with the opposition."
Dusa cautioned her brother, then took a different tack, "Try talking more with Veronica; don’t waste such a handsome face. If you can get her to give up her claim voluntarily, my chances of winning will be even higher."
Alex gave a bitter smile upon hearing this, his expression growing more worried.
Before he could refuse, Dusa added, "And Wayne, he’s too enthusiastic about you, after all, he is from Windsor. Put in some effort, and maybe you can take down both siblings together."
Alex’s smile froze, no longer worried, but now utterly dejected.
...
Meanwhile, back with the Lundan siblings, Wayne returned to the living room and brewed a pot of black tea, stroking his chin, "That Alex is easy to deal with. Chat a bit more with him, and he’ll still count the money for me even after being sold."
Slap!
Veronica smacked away the hand from his chin and punched Wayne in the chest.
Wayne pulled her into his arms amidst the scuffle, only to be pushed away by Veronica, her face flushed with embarrassment.
"Stop fooling around; what if someone sees us?"
"Fair point."
Wayne nodded in agreement and then invoked an authority, "But Teacher Saina said you need to obediently listen to me. You’ll do whatever I say; come give your brother a hug."
Have a punch!
That’s what Veronica thought, and her fist already landed on Wayne’s face.
Wayne, holding his nose and buzzing, "Becoming the Saint Heir is tough. Even though Alex is as handsome as I am, he’s Dusa’s bodyguard. Based on his non-confrontational nature, he’s still Dusa’s muscle and will likely be very strong."
Veronica turned away and snickered. Forgive her straightforwardness, but Alex was way more handsome than this piece of trash.
"What are you laughing at?"
Wayne rolled his eyes. What’s the use of being handsome, when every time he can only move one space and never leave the nine-square grid.
He was different, sometimes a chariot, locking-on a target and flooring it; sometimes a cannon, ignoring formidable defenses; sometimes a knight, making an L-shaped move.
"I’m not laughing..."
Veronica looked at the piece of trash, unable to find any merits no matter how she looked, wondering why she would fall for such a thing.
Oh well, since she likes him, let it be.
"When I was talking to Alex just now, I was observing Dusa. The girl talks little and is meticulous, making her a formidable opponent. Don’t talk to her without reason, or she might trick you," Wayne warned.
"Don’t sell yourself short; she couldn’t possibly be better at deceiving than you are."
"That’s true."
"..."
And you’re proud of that!
Veronica snorted coldly, punching Wayne in the face. Whether she was happy or not, this was her way of expressing affection.
This showed that Velia truly was her good sister.
"I have a feeling Dusa is a tough opponent. Please allow me to use my charms. Give me a month, and I’ll make her give up voluntarily," Wayne confidently declared.
"What about the other candidates? Are you planning to use the same tactic on them?" Veronica teased.
Wayne pondered for a moment, then said earnestly, "We’ll see. If there’s enough time, maybe I can take them all down..."
Bang!
As expected, he received a punch.
————
Time flew by, and it was March.
Being at the Naturalism Church Headquarters, Wayne toned down a bit, not daring to be overly intimate with Veronica. Any physical contact was kept to a sibling level.
The brother was in charge of stoking fires; the sister handled the physical contact.
Wayne became friends with Alex, who lived next door, and also got along well with Dusa. He pretended not to see Dusa’s caution and continued to solidify his persona as a sunny, warm-hearted big boy.
One day, two couriers entered the estate to deliver mail and packages to both villas.
Wayne, wearing a thinking ring, gave the couriers a dead-fish eye stare. They were burly and muscular, resembling the big guys from the Sun Church.
The ring told him that the couriers were none other than Teacher Saina.
Coach, I want to learn this!
Wayne eyed the courier’s chest muscles, envious. He wanted this Divine Art.
Let’s cut to the chase; if he learned this trick, he dared to turn into Austin and find out whether he had anything going on with the Queen.
"The package comes from Lundan; just sign here, and it’s yours."
