Chapter 519: Chapter 226 Philosopher’s Stone_3
"Also, Flora hasn’t made a move, and the more normal she appears, the more abnormal the situation. Be careful and avoid being overly affectionate in public."
Hefei furrowed her brows. Flora had not dealt with the overt investigation, and the Dark Squad, born from the Naturalist Knights Order with members devout in faith, was unlikely to be tainted by bribery.
She didn’t really understand this good sister of hers—surely she wouldn’t go as far as to personally enter the fray and employ a honey trap on Wayne?
Shameless, he’s still a child!
Thinking this, Hefei gave Wayne a once-over: "Recently, have you encountered any women who pursued you aggressively or even threw themselves at you?"
There were so many!
Especially Mona and Philomena, causing him to be short on cash recently, and he had no choice but to dock Chris’s allowance.
"Hey, how many exactly? Why is it taking you so long to think?" Veronica snorted coldly.
She knew who it was.
Willie, who else could it be? It certainly couldn’t be an older schoolmate!
"Stop joking, I’m seriously considering it."
Wayne replied and shook his head at Hefei: "Teacher, rest assured, aside from Veronica, I haven’t had any intimate contact with other women."
"Oh~~~"
Hefei’s voice trailed off, her gaze drifting past Wayne as she cocked her head to look at her daughter, who was buried in the paperwork as if she had not heard anything.
Hefei coughed lightly twice into her fist and warned them once more to keep a low profile; lives were at stake, and they must not cause a fatality.
"By the way, teacher, the mission mentioned three Philosopher’s Stones. Is there any legend about this kind of stone?" Wayne asked curiously.
The Philosopher’s Stone is the highest masterpiece of alchemy, also known as the fifth element, a stone that can turn metal into gold, a stone of miracles, a universal panacea; it’s a kind of godly object that can be used everywhere.
Wayne had read quite a few magic books, which mentioned the Philosopher’s Stone with both praise and scorn. But as for what exactly the Philosopher’s Stone was, magic books didn’t provide any details, shrouding it in mystery.
"The Philosopher’s Stone is just a legend; I’ve never seen one. There are many stories I’ve heard, such as it having the power to resurrect the dead or to make a person without any talent become a powerful mage," Hefei cited a few examples she had heard and concluded, "They’re all rumors, just have a look and that’s fine; if you believe them, you’re falling for it."
"So what about these three Philosopher’s Stones?"
"Fake, of course."
"..."
That made sense.
The Philosopher’s Stone was excessively hyped up, but when it came to defining what it truly was and where it came from, the experts were evasive and could not speak confidently.
If the Philosopher’s Stone was a hoax, whether the three stones were real or fake didn’t matter.
If the Philosopher’s Stone was not a hoax, such a precious divine object certainly wouldn’t be used to test candidates; undoubtedly, the three stones were fake.
"Go pack your bags; we leave tomorrow morning. Remember to rest early tonight, don’t study too late," Hefei instructed, stressing the word ’rest’.
Veronica left the office with her head down, carrying the files, remained silent all the way, and only when she got home did she give Wayne a fierce kick.
"It’s all your fault, even mother is getting suspicious," she blamed.
"Then explain it to her, why are you yelling so loud..."
Wayne murmured under his breath, suggesting Veronica study the files first while he went home to pack his bags, and they could study together later in the evening.
"Remember to leave the door unlocked for me tonight."
"In your dreams, I won’t even leave a window open for you."
————
Wayne returned home, casually picked a few changes of clothes to pack, and left the outdoor equipment for Philark to sort out.
He made several phone calls, saying he was quite busy recently and would make plans when he found some free time.
He dived into the sewer system, heading non-stop to Philomena’s manor, where he dined with her and managed to get three gems.
Those red, white, and green gems could store three different types of magic power. Wayne’s chest split open with a vertical line, tentacles extending out to wrap the three gems and pull them in.
Magic storage space!
Wayne’s magic storage space was not large and was used only for important items, such as ancient silver coins, and a Fire Elemental Ring.
The four Elemental Rings he had previously obtained had been drained, and the Fire Elemental Ring was kept as a casting tool. Given his fire elemental affinity, he didn’t need the ring for casting spells; keeping it was simply for show.
"Did I really sleep with something like this?"
Watching Wayne’s chest split open, Philomena’s eyelids twitched wildly. She raised her hand to touch her little boyfriend’s chest, "There’s a heartbeat, but do you actually have a heart?"
"That’s how Ancient Gods are. Congratulations, you’re the first woman on the God-chosen Continent to roll in the sheets with an Ancient God."
Wayne gave a thumbs up. Not just an Ancient God, but also a Death Knight, Dark Knight, and reserve Sun Knight, Philomena had completed her faith stamp collection by sleeping with just one man—she was simply too strong.
"Transform again for me to see." Philomena urged, wanting to cleanse her eyes with her little boyfriend’s Elf Form.
"I really can’t handle you..."
Wayne sighed, followed Philomena into the Dark Domain, and soon, two stunningly beautiful Elves were embracing each other.
...
"Why are you so late?"
In Lando Manor, the young lady’s villa, Veronica was studying documents in the study, pointing at the clock on the wall.
It was ten o’clock in the evening; social trash more tardy than a woman.
"Couldn’t help it, a black cat was in my way, made me lose direction on the road of life." Wayne heaved a sigh, conveniently blaming Monica for his lateness.
He didn’t mention the real reason, which was too heartbreaking; to speak of it would bring tears.
Knowing that Wayne was going to be out for fifteen days, Philomena, worried about her little boyfriend’s vigor, cashed out a fifteen-day advance.
Luckily, Wayne didn’t get exploited in vain; trading his charms for three gems could be considered damage control.
"Black cat? Monica?"
"Yeah, let’s not talk about that, I’m here to look over the documents, see which correct answers you’ve ruled out." Wayne rubbed his hands like a fly, seeing only one chair in front of the desk, he squeezed in and sat down beside Veronica.
Veronica took a bracing seat.
Speaking of Monica, Wayne had asked Ah Xue but she was not clear about what Monica was, only knowing this black cat was particularly annoying.
When two social trash met, they firmly believed Monica was related to the Dark Goddess, coming for the Twilight Deadlock and waiting for the real God-chosen to show themselves before revealing her identity.
Forced into Wayne’s embrace, Veronica couldn’t help but feel her heart pounding wildly, at an extremely high frequency, nearly killing the fluttering little deer.
Maybe it was the blonde hair that lost to the sad-love stories, or perhaps that was just her nature; even though she had kissed and seen it all, she couldn’t help but feel shy each time she got close to Wayne.
"Wake up, stop daydreaming. Three Philosopher’s Stones, three lines, how did you end up with more than ten? Where did the extra clues come from?"
"I suspect there are hidden challenges."
"Why do you say that?"
"It’s in your diary."
"..."
Diaries and such, now that you’re in a relationship, it’s about time to give up on that.
