Chapter 505: Chapter 222: The Momentum of Attack and Defense Is Different

That night.

Lando Manor, dining room.

Three days after their last meeting, members of the Lando Family gathered together again.

Austin had no desire to attend, and Veronica was reluctant too, but when Hefei spoke up, they couldn’t say no and had to show up with resignation.

Wayne:

Veronica: Why are you blushing? Shameless!

Austin: Oh, you’re getting cheeky now, huh!

Wayne turned red-faced, triggering two people with glass hearts, the father-daughter duo bowed their heads and ate in silence, without uttering a word.

Austin finished his dinner as quickly as possible, stating he still had work to attend to, and left early for the study.

His morning encounter with Wayne was deemed as the greatest defeat of his life by Austin. Once he had calmed down...

He couldn’t calm down; the more he thought about it, the angrier he became.

Recently he didn’t want to see Wayne, and it would be even better not to hear his name.

The pain that penetrated deep into his marrow still existed, still needed the Lucky Ancient Silver Coin to suppress it. After a rational analysis, Austin came to a conclusion.

Wayne was not the Dark Goddess’s God-chosen Knight; he had acquired the Dark Knight’s power by some other means.

In other words, Wayne might have stolen the Dark Knight’s power.

If Wayne was indeed the God-chosen Knight, regardless of Austin’s intention, he handed over the Twilight Deadlock to the Dark God-chosen himself—it was an undeniable fact.

According to the Goddess’s promise, once the curse was lifted, the game would end, and Austin would no longer feel pain.

But he was still in pain!

Therefore, Austin deduced that Wayne possessed the ability to steal a Knight’s power, darkness as such, and death likewise, making him a complete impostor of a knight.

Austin was envious but kept silent, speculating that Wayne’s abilities were related to the Protogenos Bloodline.

Yet, the Protogenos Bloodline alone wasn’t sufficient. Before Wayne, there had been others on the God-chosen Continent with Protogenos Bloodline, but none were known to have the ability to steal a Knight’s power.

The key lay in the persona of an Ancient God, full of unknowns, a synonym for taboo and horror. The potential of Wayne’s evolutionary path was boundless.

But this raised another problem!

Austin remembered clearly that the first time he met the Death Knight was by the Themes River, in early July of the previous year, when Wayne had already obtained the power of the Death Knight.

Wayne encountered the Ancient God and imitated it with his Protogenos Bloodline on Dragonheart Island, sometime in mid to late August.

The timeline did not match up.

By inference, Wayne was chosen by Death and then used the Protogenos Bloodline to steal the power of the Dark Knight.

But a Goddess would not have two knights simultaneously—if Wayne was the chosen one, Paris’s knight would be stripped of all knightly honors due to betrayal of faith.

Paris’s Death Knight was still around!

Adding to that, Wayne’s confidence during the bet suggested this wasn’t his first time stealing a Knight’s power. A habitual winner, he knew he was sure to win, which was why he wagered everything.

The guy was cheating!

Austin overturned all his previous speculations, concluding that Wayne’s ability to steal a Knight’s power had nothing to do with the Protogenos Bloodline—it was merely an excuse to deceive others. He was hiding a far greater secret.

This secret enabled Wayne to switch freely between faiths, even deceiving the gods.

Connecting this to Wayne’s secretary, the seemingly obedient Mona, Austin speculated Wayne used the same ploy to deceive the Heavenly Father’s Court; Mona wasn’t an undercover agent of the Court but a bodyguard they appointed.

Taking into account that those who play Holy Light have dirty hearts, Austin dared to presume a little more—Mona was a gift from the Holy See to Wayne.

Holy See: This nun is still new. You can play with her as you like, and if she’s broken, we have new ones.

Moreover, there was no such thing as a Heaven Knight, nor a Hell Knight; those two cards were created by Austin using his wealth, obsessive-compulsive as he was, to correspond with the other faith-based Knights.

After analyzing the history of the Holy See, Austin speculated that Wayne had deceived the Holy See by posing as an Angel. If a God-chosen Knight could change, then turning into an Angel shouldn’t be problematic.

Austin felt tingles on his scalp. It’s not scary to fool people; getting exposed is what’s frightening. Even with all his wealth, he couldn’t buy enough toilet paper to clean up after Wayne.

The hole was far too big!

Forget about Lando Manor; shoving the Magic Department into it wouldn’t plug the gap.

Austin felt he was already brazen enough, but compared to the heir’s maneuvers, he was simply too kind, as innocent as a blank sheet.

And now it was too late to speak of these things, as Wayne and the Lando Family had completed their bond, officially sanctioned and sealed by the Windsor Royal Family.

If you picked a hundred random people off the street, ninety percent would think Wayne was his illegitimate son, and ten percent would think they were brothers—there was no third option.

Therefore, Austin had to plug this hole, even if he couldn’t, he still had to try.

Austin was numb to it all; ironically, the person who disliked Wayne the most in his family was him, yet every time there was trouble, it was he who had to clean up after Wayne. To prevent further exposure of greater problems, he even had to stock up on toilet paper in advance.

Had he acquired an heir, or picked up an extra job?

Watching Austin hurry away, Wayne felt immensely pleased; this was the feeling he craved.

This is the sensation of flying.JPG

But that wasn’t enough!

"Teacher, Austin has been quite unhappy with me lately and has been giving me the cold shoulder for days." Wayne looked wronged, unsure of where he had erred.

"He’s probably just under a lot of work pressure. That’s how he is, often sick, you’ll get used to it..."

Hefei muttered, noticing her student’s distressed expression, she coldly commanded, "See what you’ve done spoiling him, walking around with a long face all day. Megan, go to the study and see if he’s dead. If he isn’t, tell him to wait there. I’ll go sort him out later."
