Chapter 323: Chapter 161: Pope’s Envoy, Heaven Holy Spear_2

"So, do we still participate in the next three rounds of bidding? Murphy Mining is ready to give up," Nicholas inquired.

"A play isn’t complete without the final act, let’s see the process through," came the reply.

"Understood," he said.

Nicholas left with mixed feelings, happy that his new boss recognized him but worried that the recognition was based on failure, as his performance on this trip was not flawless.

He envied Mona even more; having a promotion device sure is nice, she was a confidant by day, and also by night.

Mona closed the door, leaned down, and whispered in Wayne’s ear, "Boss, do you want me to teach that guy called Owen a lesson?"

Wayne looked up and saw a flash of color inside Mona’s collar, saying irritably, "You’ve been quite aggressive lately, I don’t remember you being like this before."

"You are my master; protecting your life and dignity is my duty," Mona noticed Wayne’s gaze, blushed slightly, and maintained her bent posture without moving.

"Remember to call me ’boss’ next time."

Wayne reminded her and took another look, "Don’t resolve business matters with violence, at the end of the day, the Boswell Family is also one of the Tulips; I do have that much measure."

Anyone else would have questioned him at this point, but not Mona; she truly believed it.

Being present on several occasions, she trusted her own eyes; her master had all the virtues she could imagine, and when he was not so obvious, it was out of necessity, there must be a profound meaning behind it.

Like the casual glances just now, they must be because her master saw through her indecent thoughts and chose to humble himself to save her face.

As a member of the clergy, she was guilty.

However...

The Archbishop said that the other party is an angel; it is natural for clergy members to yearn for Heaven, and angels are the pathway to ascension. Plus, with the Golden Rule contract, it’s normal for her to have thoughts.

Innocent!

"Mona, doesn’t it get tiring to keep bending over?"

"Not tiring."

"Then keep bending."

Wayne felt grateful for such an understanding secretary, knowing he would strip away the angel’s halo tonight, and it would be hard to get another look then, so he took a few more glances.

Night, rain.

A high-end black sedan stopped at the entrance of the hotel.

Mona held an umbrella for Wayne and sat with him in the back seat; the driver glanced in the rearview mirror, a flash of silver in his eyes.

Mona narrowly opened her eyes, a holy golden light bursting forth.

They recognized each other with a look.

The driver started the car, heading towards Holy Mother Cathedral.

This cathedral, built during the Renaissance, was not originally a church but served as the Papal Academy.

The interior was resplendent, adorned with precious alabaster statues, the exaggerated and overly intricate decorations were lavish and luxurious, featuring numerous curves that dazzled the eyes, a perfect embodiment of Baroque style.

It was expanded a few years ago into a cathedral with several spires added; eh, got a bit Gothic.

The black car stopped at the cathedral, Mona got out holding the umbrella, half of her body exposed outside of the umbrella to ensure her master stayed completely dry.

"Look at what you’ve done, even the stockings are wet," Wayne snatched the umbrella, pulled Mona into his embrace, and the two shared an umbrella as they walked towards the cathedral.

"B-boss, this is a sacred cathedral, we shouldn’t... It’s not quite proper," Mona’s heartbeat quickened, she liked but also resisted, suddenly anxious, "There are many people, we’ll be seen, can’t we do this back at the hotel?"

Being seen is the point!

Everyone passing by should see clearly, an angel is making a move on a nun; hurry up and stand up to question it.

Wayne didn’t care about Mona’s distress, with a slap on her back, she immediately stopped struggling, pushed out her chest, and looked around, waiting for the righteous to step forward and rebuke his wrongdoing.

But no one did!

The cathedral was cleared tonight, and all the qualified clergy members were dressed in white robes, hoods covering their faces, hands holding white candles before them, motionless like statues.

All of these individuals came from the Papal State, not a single local clergy member among them, they didn’t know who Wayne was, but this kind of operation...

It was all too familiar, they saw it every day.

...

Second floor of the cathedral.

Rainwater slid down the stained-glass windows, crystal chandeliers hung high, bookshelves on all sides formed a circle, obscuring the view while hiding the Magic Array on the floor, creating a soundproof barrier.

Wayne supported himself with a black umbrella in one hand, the other wrapped around Mona’s waist, his nimble fingers stroking up and down, feeling the smooth softness through the fabric.

He saw his target for the visit, the Envoy of the Pope.

The man had blond hair and blue eyes, strikingly handsome, with long hair cascading like a golden waterfall, shimmering with dreamy luster under the light. His face was sculpted to perfection, his eyes bright and full of endless grace and gentleness.

Upon seeing Wayne’s arrival, he stood up and greeted him with a slight smile.

Every move he made was unhurried and graceful, constantly emanating dazzling brilliance, especially his smile, so pure and flawless it even made Wayne feel inferior, and he moved his unseemly wandering hand away.

No, that’s too respectable!

Wayne placed his hand back.

"Welcome, Mister Wayne, I am the Envoy of the Papal State, Archibald, here on behalf of the Pope to express our most sincere goodwill," Archibald approached Wayne, extending his hand with a smile.

"Wayne."

Wayne reached out and shook hands with him, but it wasn’t until he sat down that he noticed a female clergy member standing across from him, dressed in a white robe similar to Mona’s outfit, which accentuated her shapely figure and beautiful features.

That’s terrible, I was so busy looking at the man!

Wayne found it absurd, suspecting he had been in Windsor for too long and caught some cunning homosexual virus.

That said, Archibald was indeed very handsome; his presence made even a beautiful woman seem dull in comparison.
