Chapter 316: Chapter 159 Little Mustache: Son of the Beach
October 27th, Lundan Airport.
A group of business elites dressed in smart attire walked into the waiting hall, fifteen in total, both men and women.
Leading them was Nicholas, wearing gold-rimmed glasses and exuding a refined air, his suit and shoes impeccable.
They were assistants arranged by Austin for Wayne, holding relatively low positions in the company and generally around thirty years old, all with potential but yet to make a name for themselves.
As per Austin’s intent, Wayne could consider these people as the initial base of his team, and if he had other ideas, he was also free to organize a team himself.
The entourage waited half an hour before the figure central to this trip arrived.
Wayne walked into the waiting hall with his personal secretary Mona, and at the VIP exclusive passage, he met Nicholas and his group.
"Mister Wayne, I am Nicholas, your assistant for the trip to Luzelburg. This is your team," Nicholas offered his hand respectfully, treating Wayne with high regard.
They got wind of a juicy piece of gossip: this trip might be doomed to return without success, but the central figure was suspected to be the big boss’s illegitimate son, and it was of great significance that he was going abroad for business negotiations for the first time.
Seeing Wayne, Nicholas dismissed his doubts; the gossip was unreliable. What did they mean by "suspected illegitimate son"? It was quite obvious.
The eyebrows, the eyes, and that thick mass of black hair— he had to be the son of his father.
My chance for rapid advancement has arrived!
Nicholas felt as if he was floating on air; he quickly straightened his back, knowing now was not the time to get carried away. He had to prove to his new boss that he was capable of completing tasks and managing a team.
"Hello, Mister Nicholas, I’m utterly ignorant in business matters; I’ll be relying on you and everyone else on this trip," Wayne said, shaking Nicholas’s hand with a slight smile that was neither too distant nor too intimate.
A standard Austin smile, learned from business gatherings.
"You jest, sir. If even you are ignorant in business, how are we self-proclaimed elites any different from the illiterate?" Nicholas shook his head repeatedly; not only was Wayne good at business, but he was also an expert. The family he was born into was proof enough.
It was really he who was bad at doing business, having wasted thirty-five years on a wrong choice.
Wayne chuckled in acknowledgment: "You’re too modest, Nicholas, after all, you are a top graduate from Jianhe University."
"That’s the school’s recognition; I haven’t yet been acknowledged by society. There is still much I need to learn from you."
The two exchanged compliments about their business acumen with Wayne looking down appreciatively, and Nicholas humbly elevating his boss, establishing a harmonious relationship.
Afterward, under Nicholas’s introduction, Wayne shook hands and became acquainted with each member of the team.
"This is Lady Mona, my personal secretary. In the event that I cannot be contacted, all matters can be reported to her," Wayne introduced Mona to the group.
Due to a contract, Wayne trusted Mona completely as she would not betray him, ranking just below the Butler and dogs on his list.
Noticing Wayne’s trust in Mona, Nicholas felt envious; having an ascendant device certainly made things easier, allowing one to climb the ranks while lying down.
If he had one, he would already have free access to the big boss’s office.
But it was not too late; he still had his commercial talents and believed that he could impress the new boss with his abilities and eat his meals while standing.
"Nicholas, tell me about your plan. Sit next to me on the plane; I want to see what you have prepared for the report," Wayne said.
"Mister Wayne, our collaborative company in Frank is..."
Nicholas, well-prepared and undaunted by any impromptu tests, logically analyzed their strengths and weaknesses. His analysis went beyond the marketplace, taking into account the geopolitical environment of Luzelburg caught between the two great powers of Frank and Prussia.
While speaking, several individuals dressed like bodyguards in black approached.
Nicholas thought they were Wayne’s bodyguards, and Wayne assumed they were bodyguards arranged by Austin for the team, so neither paid them much mind.
It wasn’t until they walked closer and closer, without slowing down, that Mona stepped forward, positioning herself coldly in front of Wayne.
Looking on in surprise, Nicholas realized that Miss Mona was more than just a secretary.
The men in black stopped, and one with a Little Mustache glared fiercely at Wayne and swaggered off.
Wayne: (눈_눈)
Again, it’s you?
After the failures on the train and cruise ship, you’ve switched to airplanes now, huh?
But I must admit, you’re quite persistent!
"Boss, do you know him?" Mona asked softly, noting that Little Mustache harbored great malice towards her employer. It wasn’t a chance encounter; he had come for Wayne deliberately.
"A troublesome entanglement..."
Wayne shook his head; after his conversation with Lily on the cruise ship, he had a good guess about Little Mustache’s identity.
The contact’s boss!
As a spy from Frank, Wayne’s range of movement was restricted to Lundan; to leave, he must file a report stating his reasons, and arbitrary departures would result in warnings. So, Little Mustache took action.
To catch a train, he rode the train; to intercept a ship, he boarded the cruise; to stop a plane, he got on the plane...
It wasn’t easy for Little Mustache.
Wayne’s impression of Frank’s intelligence agency greatly improved, recognizing their potent intelligence capabilities with eyes everywhere in Lundan. Not to mention driving his own car, but whenever he used a registered means of transport to leave Lundan, they would show up without fail.
If nothing unexpected happened, Frank’s intelligence agency had already infiltrated Lundan’s transportation network.
But Wayne still couldn’t understand one thing: the cruise and plane tickets were booked in advance, so being discovered made sense, but the train ticket was too much of a stretch.
