Chapter 285: Chapter 148: The Victim Shows Up_3

When the white light dissipated, a crack was gouged open above the ruins, and huge rocks would occasionally fall through, while the dim moonlight spilled into the Giant City Ruins through the crevices.

The surface of the obelisk, flaking off its massive stones, reflected the moonlight and revealed its true form.

A hundred meters tall, the obelisk towered, made entirely of gold and engraved with the pattern of a giant wielding thunderous storms, gleaming under the moonlight like a sword piercing the sky.

Atop Wayne’s skull, two white lights pulsated intensely, providing a clear view; as the obelisk shed its outer shell, it continuously shrank, from originally immeasurable to a mere hundred meters high.

And it kept shrinking!

During the diminishing process, accompanied by the sound of mechanisms reconfiguring, the obelisk finally stopped shrinking at fifty meters. For giants, this size was just right, but for ordinary humans, it still seemed tall and majestic.

The miners who had fortuitously survived, including Sebastian, all held their breath, their eyes filled with avarice for the gold.

In his Death Knight mode, Wayne’s mind was clear, and he quickly snapped out of his astonishment, scoffing, "Sebastian, seal the obelisk immediately. I told you, once the Stone Tablet’s seal is broken, others will notice."

Sebastian shivered and hastened to the obelisk. Gazing up at the complex script he had never seen before, he waved his Walking Stick to draw back the black curtain, and two Skeleton Soldiers emerged carrying a black sealed book.

The black book was fifty centimeters long, thirty centimeters wide, and more than fifteen centimeters thick, looking more like a filing box.

The Sealing Book!

On the black cover’s back were a spine and two rows of ribs; the cover featured a pair of crossed white bone arms, decidedly in the style of The Death Church, but the skull embedded in the center of the cover was full of Hell’s ambiance.

A pale human face, with black keratin Face Armor covering up to the bridge of the nose, and two rows of red, slanted eyes.

As the Skeleton Soldiers set the Sealing Book gently on the ground, it landed with a heavy thud, Sebastian flipped it open, and a tide of darkness surged from within, revealing not a single page, confirming it was indeed a filing box.

The Sealing Book had already been programmed with a trigger mode, and upon opening, black chains surged out from the tide, thickening and enlarging in mid-air, tightly binding the Obelisk Stone Tablet.

Then, a pair of pallid arms stretched out from the Sealing Book. The slender arms, with ten long, pitch-black nails, also grew thicker and larger, clamping down on both sides of the obelisk to forcibly hoist it into the air.

Under the combined force of the chains and ghostly hands, the obelisk slowly diminished until it was just the right size to fit into the Sealing Book.

The process went smoothly; Sebastian had clearly come prepared.

To be precise, the Hell Evil God, who was manipulating the Death Knight from behind the scenes, had prepared everything, merely waiting for the Death Knight to deliver the Sealing Book.

Sebastian retrieved his ring, closed the Sealing Book, and sighed in relief at the successful completion of the task.

At that moment, the earth began to quake with a continuous rumble much like an earthquake.

The ruins, having lost the obelisk, or rather, the central pillar that balanced the entire structure, now physically overlapped with Elemental Mountain. During the reset, the ruins and the mountain violently collided.

Doomed to mutual destruction!

Seeing that Elemental Mountain was about to collapse, Sebastian hastily approached Wayne, holding the Sealing Book and ring, pleading, "Great Death Knight, please allow my subordinates to leave first; they still need to serve the Goddess and should not be buried here."

"No problem, I’ll send them away myself."

Wayne took the ring and drew Shadowmare, as a surging Death Essence spread out, flesh decayed, and the living transformed into Skeleton Soldiers on the spot.

What kind of sending off was this, a silencing murder?

"Knight Lord, what is this...?"

Sebastian was dumbfounded, shock, confusion, and fear coalescing into a chaotic maelstrom as he stumbled over his words, unsure of what to say.

Whoosh!

A flash of white light.

This is bad, danger!

Sebastian recoiled in alarm, watching in horror as the Death Knight who had swung his blade at him.

Lucky he moved quickly, otherwise...

Why so cold?

Sebastian saw the Death Knight in his eyes slowly split in half at the waist, the upper torso leaning over and slipping down as a line of blood spread and fell with the head of the Undead Warhorse.

Shadowmare couldn’t possibly betray its master; the only one who could have died was Sebastian, his head sheared off diagonally, his splitting vision witnessing the above scene.

Wayne swung Shadowmare, its pristine blade dripping no blood, pointed to the ground, as Sebastian arose as a Skeleton Soldier, wielding a Walking Stick.

A Golden Mage, gone without rhyme or reason.

Wayne dismounted the Undead Warhorse, tucked the Sealing Book under his arm, amidst the backdrop of collapsing boulders, he moved unperturbed, the picture of elegance.

"Yuliya, open the portal."

Just as Yuliya was opening the portal, something unexpected happened. The Sealing Book, upon touching the body of the Death Knight, sent a surge of thoughts crashing forth.

This thought was immense, knocking Wayne right out of his Death Knight state.

Enveloped by grey mist, a desolate figure materialized out of thin air.

Black Armor, a tattered cape, the headless Death Knight let out an enraged roar, "Yuliya, Shadowmare, what are you doing?"

Wayne: "..."

This is bad, the victim has come knocking!
