Chapter 273: Chapter 144 Practice Makes Perfect with Dishes_3
So that’s how it is, learned another useless new move.
Bruce dragged Mayor Welsh out of the mine cave, woke him up with a left hook, and without waiting for him to open his mouth, served him several consecutive slaps.
"Didn’t see that coming, you really hate evil." Wayne said in surprise, thinking he was the only one.
"Who told him to marry such a beautiful wife!"
"..."
Wayne had nothing to say in response, politely exited the conversation, and picked up the mayor’s pistol to tuck at his lower back, gazing intently into the depths of the mine cave.
The same saying applied, there was no way he was going in, what if there was a collapse? Who would dispense justice then?
"Mona, if you hear me, come out quickly."
Wayne shouted loudly and pricked up his ears waiting for a response. The situation inside the mine cave was far more complex than imagined, definitely not as simple as a straight road.
Wayne placed one hand on the ground and a vine crept out at his feet. As he infused it with his Magic Power, a tiny white flower as pure as himself bloomed at the tip of the vine.
Shared vision, expanded perception.
The vine wandered along the ground, delving into the complex terrain of the mine cave. Whenever it encountered a fork, the vine grew new branches, each topped with a white flower.
The rustling sound of it crawling spread to every corner of the mine cave, searching for Mona’s hiding place.
Bruce shivered at the noise, muttering under his breath: "I’ve wanted to say this a long time ago, the magic of the Naturalism Church is too freaky."
After ten minutes, with the help of sensory vision, Wayne saw a familiar bottom—or rather, a familiar figure—within a nearly collapsed tunnel.
A full figure, like a juicy peach, to use the believers’ terminology, Wayne would call it a succulent plant, full of moisture.
Mona was wearing the Tactical Squad’s uniform, lying listlessly on a heap of earth, her white Magic Robe spotless, her black stockings frayed in many places, shoeless, and unconscious, the very picture of a post-battle tally.
Wake up, don’t sleep!
The vine crept up to Mona’s shoulder, and Wayne, unable to call out to wake her, had to repeatedly flick the whip against her face.
Mona’s brows were tightly furrowed, overly exhausted, her eyelids trembled a few times but she did not wake up.
Wayne reluctantly directed the other vines to gather around, weaving into a net to cover Mona and dragged her back along the same path towards the exit of the mine cave.
Draping and dragging made the white robe slide up, retreating to around her waist.

Wayne mentally chided the boredom and chased away the uncontrollable piece of vine, maneuvering the vine to properly cover the robe.
There’s nothing worth seeing, he had seen it all before anyway.
Wayne picked up Mona’s body and placed her on the vine-made fishnet, to save her face from hitting the ground and consequently from disfigurement, he made a thoughtful arrangement to place her face up.
Along the way, the friction of the stockings against the ground resulted in further battle damage, concluding yet another scene.
Three minutes later, the vine net brought Mona back to the mouth of the mine cave, and Wayne snapped his fingers, signaling Bruce to come and rescue.
Holy Light Magic and such were beyond him, not his field of expertise.
Bruce crouched in front of Mona, placing one hand on her forehead as Holy Light infused to dispel her pain.
The results weren’t good.
"Her injuries are not serious, they’ve already healed on their own, not waking up must be due to excessive mental exhaustion. It’s understandable, the enemy did have some skills." Bruce shook his head, they could only wait for Mona to wake up on her own.
"Carry him on your back, let’s leave this place." Wayne said to Bruce, pointing at the mayor.
"Instead of carrying him, I’d rather carry Mona, at least she’s a woman." Bruce said with disgust, choosing the woman between the two unpleasant options.
"He’s your rival in love, if you don’t carry him, who will?"
Wayne was a step quicker than Bruce, hoisting Mona onto his shoulder before Bruce could, and walked out of the mine cave, instinctively patting her bottom: "The mayor can die but not here, and there’s a bunch of his cronies waiting to point him out in court. This is the burden of justice, many people can’t find their way to it even if they wanted, what is there to disdain."
"Easy for you to say, have you seen how heavy he is?"
Bruce refused to come into close contact with Mayor Welsh, dragging him by the wrist out of the mine cave and the two entered the miners’ dormitory, where Bruce tossed the man to the floor.
Wayne looked around at the filthy floor and the iron-framed bed without bedding, choosing between the two, he put Mona on the bed.
If she dares to sleep on the floor today, she’ll dare to sleep with the boss tomorrow, it’s basically the same as going straight to bed.
"We’ve found the person, mission accomplished, next is my commissioned investigation."
Bruce looked at Wayne, raising an eyebrow: "I remember you said you’d write the investigation report and share half the commission."
"Just blabbering, you took it seriously."
"How can a man not keep his word?" Bruce was furious.
How fresh, a man’s word is not always reliable, there are times when he doesn’t keep it.
Wayne tossed a middle finger, the mine cave could collapse at any moment, if he went in he’d be a fool.
Just then, Mona stirred awake, propping herself up with her arms, shaking her groggy head: "Quick, there’s a stone slab deep in the mine cave, go get it."
She had a terrible headache, wasn’t sure if it was an illusion, but she felt as though someone had touched her bottom while she was half-asleep.
A very familiar feeling, like that of her master... no, Bruce’s hand.
Mona looked suspiciously at the two men in the room, who, who just touched her?
