Chapter 263: Chapter 141: Borrowing Money is Not the Goal, Establishing a Debt Relationship is the Goal.

Wayne’s forehead was crossed by a string of question marks, wondering if Megan had sent the invitation to the wrong person, as he recalled, Austin had never initiated conversation with him.

Suddenly sending invitations...

Got it, social scum never change their initial intentions, having acquired a cement barrel factory, now they’re after him, this little white flower, again!

After Megan left, Wayne flashed back to the study, put on a serious face, and laid the invitation in front of Slyphy.

"Teacher, what do you think?"

"???"

Slyphy’s forehead was also crossed by a string of question marks as she turned the invitation over: "Then you should go, he’s not going to eat you."

Wayne’s eyes widened, he might not, but his megastar subordinates will!

Seeing her student’s defensive look, Slyphy laughed and waved her hands: "I have an invitation too, I’ll be there, and he won’t dare to trouble you with your sister present."

The stockings market was booming, and Slyphy’s fashion brand ’Sylphy Valentine’ had opened up the market in Lundan City, becoming a fashion benchmark pursued by the upper-class ladies.

The factory that produced the stockings and the nylon patent were both under the Lando Family company, and aside from the marital relationship, Austin and Slyphy were business partners in the marketplace, and it was only natural she received an invitation.

"So, this is a formal business gathering?"

"What else?"

"I thought the gathering place was at the cement barrel factory by the Themes River." Wayne made a sharp retort.

"It won’t be, he has been taught a lesson, he wouldn’t dare to trouble you again." Sylphy couldn’t contain her laughter, stepping back to watch the fun as the two squared off against each other.

"Teacher, I still don’t quite understand, if it’s official, why invite me?"

Wayne was puzzled, not that he wouldn’t attend an official event, but he had no business dealings with Austin, who would find even glancing at him too much, so there was no need to invite him to a formal occasion.

"Hmm, perhaps there are other reasons."

Slyphy pondered for a moment, then said with a smile: "The Lando Family is dwindling, aside from those useless distant relatives, as my student, you are one of the few trustworthy people."

Wayne was even more confused; he admitted Slyphy made sense, after all, the future heir of the Lando Family had to rely on his efforts, and Austin would not always be against him, sooner or later he would have to respectfully call him son-in-law.

But was giving up too soon, really not planning to hold on any longer?

If Veronica was just like everyone else, such behavior would be no different from raising a white flag of surrender three to five years in advance.

Too soon, the sea hasn’t surrendered yet!

Wayne suspected there was something fishy about this, using himself as a reference; the invitation was not as simple as it appeared on the surface, but Slyphy was adamant, and he couldn’t continue speaking ill of the other’s husband, so he could only be on guard.

"By the way, teacher, I have some intelligence for you."

Wayne said: "A few days ago, the detective agency passed on a message, the Moonlight Church is preparing to build a new stronghold, and they are desperately in need of funds, looking for fools everywhere."

Slyphy’s face darkened: "I am aware of this matter, it has been settled, the Liberty Mage Alliance has intervened, acting as a guarantor for the Moonlight Church."

From Slyphy’s face, it was not hard to see that this matter was very complicated, involving many aspects, and Windsor’s big pie was about to have its power boundaries redrawn.

The Naturalism Church had been gravely harmed by the Dark Knight, unable to defend its base, and was highly likely to be sliced from their flesh.

"Teacher, being part of the Life Alliance, there shouldn’t be a problem, right?" Wayne ventured a guess.

Slyphy shook her head silently. The Life Alliance was formed to counter the beliefs of darkness and death. Internally, they still each had their own agenda, and though they appeared harmonious on the surface, the competition always existed.

Otherwise, she wouldn’t have snatched Wayne away from the Moonlight Church.

"Maybe it’s related to the appearance of the Death Knight..."

Slyphy said with a bitter smile: "Add to that the Dark Knight, as well as the increasingly active Hell Evil God, the Royal Family does not want to deplete their own strength, so they have to empower the Church, congratulations to the Moonlight Church, they seized a rare opportunity."

After listening for a while, Wayne had another question: "If it’s the Liberty Mage Alliance mediating, why don’t they provide the funds, even a loan would be fine?"

As the saying goes, borrowing money is not the goal, establishing a debt relationship is the goal.

With that relationship, the Liberty Mage Alliance, no, the Royal Family could easily meddle with the Moonlight Church.

Slyphy shook her head: "Perhaps it’s because of internal reasons within the Liberty Mage Alliance, the chaotic beliefs dictate that members of the alliance each have their own thoughts..."

Teacher, this has nothing to do with whether the faith is chaotic or not, you’re smuggling your own agenda again.

Before speaking, first look at that card, then take a look at your Holy Maiden best friend; your faith is singular and devout, yet you all have your own thoughts.

Wayne gained an understanding of the general situation, then lost interest. As a Silver Mage, a small wavelet carried by the current, knowing all these intrigues, how could he act? He didn’t even have the qualifications to be troubled.

Wayne Manor.

Wayne stepped out of the limousine, handed the invitation to Philark to arrange his schedule, and to remind him to attend the business gathering on the 14th.

With time to spare, Wayne took a chance to learn some swordsmanship with the Valkyrie, and after a bath, he returned to the study alone.

He was multitasking, reading to recharge himself, while summoning Fire Elementals in search of new settlements, and tuning into the silver cross within his body.

Slyphy believed that among the silver cross, the divine component was the most important, related to the faith, guiding the Mage’s future path;

Liberty Mage Dean Schrödinger quite the opposite, put the divine at the very end of the silver cross, faith should not be singular, or it would impact the path ahead.

Wayne said he wouldn’t be biased but couldn’t help leaning towards Planck’s viewpoint. From his own perspective, Essence of Life was too strong, in seeking balance, worshiping just one Goddess was simply not enough for him.
