Chapter 224: Chapter 127 You think it’s not important, but I do

"Portal, Black Robe, they’re the minions of the Thousand-Eyed Demon..."

Wayne received the message from Ah Bin, wondering why the minions of the Thousand-Eyed Demon were targeting Chris.

He had met this group of minions, every single one of them was foul-mouthed and impulsive.

Lundan wasn’t short of technicians; a little money would suffice. It made no sense to go to great lengths and risk exposing the Thousand-Eyed Demon’s plan.

Life was precious, and they didn’t have the guts for it.

Despite thinking it over, Wayne couldn’t understand the reason, pondering that the Holy See might know something. Tonight, he would share the information with Mona and let the Holy See worry about it.

Time moved on to late at night.

Wayne emerged from the sewer and looked at the sedan parked in front of Mona’s house, nodding silently to himself. The starving camel really was bigger than the horse; she had prepared everything he needed in one day.

He pulled open the car door and sat in the passenger seat, seeing Mona on the driver’s seat with an ’I’ve already seen through the truth’ expression and snorted coldly.

For a blue-level detective like you, it took two nights just to recognize who the good guys are. You’ve really lowered the standard for the detective world.

"Where to?"

"We need to find a secluded place; this isn’t suitable for opening a portal."

Wayne said slowly, "Remember to add ’master’ next time. You’ve been captured and enslaved by me; you need to express the emotion of struggling, not this cold, deadpan face of a corpse you have now."

That made sense!

Mona nodded, the Archbishop hadn’t mentioned it, but she had already confirmed, this jerk was indeed one of their own.

Mona was very aware of how difficult it was to be undercover as she was utterly exhausted by the second day, constantly on the edge of despair from potentially losing everything.

This jerk spent every day in the company of devils, with the slightest lapse risking his life. The pressure he was under was simply unimaginable.

Thinking about it this way, she had only been groped a little. There was no need to hold a grudge.

The truck started slowly, and Wayne raised his hand to halt it, speaking gravely, "Are you wearing high heels?"

"Is there a problem?"

"Take off the shoes; from now on, no driving in high heels," Wayne ordered with his mind, signaling the seriousness of the matter.

Ten minutes later, the truck stopped on the side of an alleyway.

Wayne sat in the vehicle, unlocked the portal with the key, and had Mona move the Alchemy Materials in one by one, handling them with care, not allowing any bumps or scratches.

Mona obediently followed his orders, busy back and forth without a single complaint. At first glance, she appeared to be fully trained.

...

Ruin Number Three, the plaza.

Mona looked over at Wayne, who was sitting on the sofa making tea, and finally understood why there were a sofa, tea set, and fire rack among the alchemy materials.

"Don’t slack off, hurry up and set up the Alchemy Array. There’s a lot to do tonight. Once you get the Alchemy Array in place, I still have other tasks to assign to you." Wayne, with his legs propped up, put his tea down and called out loudly, slacking off during work hours, which was simply unacceptable.

Mona’s face darkened, yet she had no complaints, busily setting up the Alchemy Array as Wayne directed, working exceptionally hard.

The materials needed for the Alchemy Array weren’t precious, but the quantity required was vast, and the construction of the Magic Array Diagram demanded high precision and was both mentally and physically taxing for most.

Wayne was unwilling to deal with such grievances, making him work for the Devil—how easy could it be? Outsourcing the job to the Clergy, where everyone made a profit, was a win-win-win situation.

"Bruce, you seem to be enjoying yourself!"

The portal opened, and the avatar of the Thousand-Eyed Demon arrived for inspection. Seeing Wayne lying on the sofa slacking off while his controlled Nun worked tirelessly, he couldn’t help but laugh.

Well done, this move was truly devilish. This kid had a promising future.

"My master, I welcome your grand arrival." Wayne stood up, emulating the Butler with a hand over his chest and a bow.

The Thousand-Eyed Demon was even more pleased, Wayne’s manners reminding him of his most prized Disciple, Sigma. He liked what he saw, love me, love my dog.

It was a pity this dog once served the Blood Monarch. Even if he had snatched him away, the Blood Monarch’s faith was only suppressed, not completely eradicated, making it impossible to foster him as a confidant.

"Mona, come here and pay your respects to my master." Seeing the Thousand-Eyed Demon silent, Wayne called the utility person to step forward.

Mona lowered her head beside Wayne and uttered ’master’ in a soft voice, looking a bit aggrieved, which fit her current reluctant persona.

"What’s going on, your servant seems to still have her will?" the Thousand-Eyed Demon said displeased.

"Master, my power is too weak to completely control her will. I can only implant thoughts, forcing her to obey my commands," Wayne said, looking eagerly at the Thousand-Eyed Demon.

The Thousand-Eyed Demon disregarded him outright, as he was but an avatar and couldn’t grant more power.

He said slowly, "Bruce, power isn’t about strength but how you use it. You could erase her thoughts, turning her into a mindless Puppet. If you can’t do it, I can help you."

Mona’s body trembled, holding her breath and bowing deeply.

"What’s the fun in that? Rather than a marionette on strings, I prefer to watch her struggle."

Wayne gave Mona’s backside a firm slap, causing her to shudder and clench her fists white.

"Hehehehe————""Hehehehe————"

Both devils laughed heartily, the Thousand-Eyed Demon nodding with satisfaction, "Not bad at all, you really are a piece of work, too good for anywhere but Hell."

"Thank you for the compliment. In fact, I learned from you," Wayne said humbly. "Those tricks you taught me before, I’ve tried a couple on her, and they’re starting to show results. She already knows how to take the initiative."

"Have your fun, but don’t take it too seriously. Remember, once your task is accomplished, dispose of her, or she will be your undoing," the Thousand-Eyed Demon warned, reminded of a certain Demon King that he couldn’t get enough of, and he brought the conversation to an end, asking, "How’s the Alchemy Array coming along, and any news on the sixty-six corpses you were supposed to find?"
