Chapter 216: Chapter 124 Isn’t it just exploitation, who doesn’t know how to do that?
There are many ways to take the Essence of Life; the simplest is Alchemy.
Once, Wayne drained the Elemental Space of the Void Lord, who then planned to use Alchemy to take back the Four Elements.
The power of the Thousand-Eyed Demon is extremely potent, capable of harvesting others’ thoughts, Magic Power, and Essence of Life for its own use. This was confirmed by Wayne during his battle with Sigma.
"This is outrageous, if it’s really like this, wouldn’t he be invincible..."
Wayne sat cross-legged on the ground, arms crossed in front of his frowning face, deep in thought. The capabilities of the Thousand-Eyed Demon seemed abnormally strong, even more excessive than his own cheating tactics.
Among the seven great Demon Kings of Hell, there is no place for the Thousand-Eyed Demon, at best they are mid-tier, not one of the top Hell Demon Lords. This suggests that while the power of the Thousand-Eyed Demon is significant, it has its limits and cannot do whatever it wants.
Of course, it does not exclude the possibility that the powers of the seven great Demon Kings are even more terrifying.
"Only one way to find out."
Wayne looked around, then stretched his claws towards Mona.
The moment he touched her face, Mona erupted from her spot, one hand on the ground, sweeping with a whip kick, transforming into a black streak attacking Wayne’s neck.
Her speed was swift, and her strength was not weak; even before impact, Wayne felt a gust of wind sweep across his face.
Smack!
He raised his hand to lock onto her ankle, his fingers tightening like iron pincers, and the pain traveled through her nerves throughout her entire body, causing Mona to involuntarily let out a soft groan.
"Don’t be shy, it’s just a touch on the face. When you were asleep just now, I touched you all over," Wayne confidently played the part of the villain, with lines effortlessly rolling off his tongue, feeling his acting becoming more and more skilled.
Maybe it was time to debut and become a big star!
He abruptly stood up, stepped to the side, and swung Mona’s ankle round and round before smashing it into the ground.
The ancient city had long been abandoned, its bricks and stones weathered and fragile. Mona protected her face with her hands, wind howling past her ears as she violently made contact with the ground, sinking into it up to her waist.
Wayne held onto Mona’s ankle, dragging her out of the ruins and threw her onto the ground like trash.
Mona, gasping for breath, lay on the ground in an unseemly position. All her energy was drained, leaving her to watch helplessly as her enemy reached out his demonic claws.
Wayne crouched down, fingers gripping Mona’s face, saw the raging fury in her eyes through the gaps of his fingers and whispered ominously, "Don’t be afraid, it’s my first time too. I’ll try not to hurt you."
Wayne brought forth his newly acquired abilities, attempting to draw out Mona’s thoughts, her Magic Power, and Essence of Life.
Even at her peak, her thoughts and Magic Power paled in comparison to Wayne’s, not to mention now, with hardly any left. Wayne’s gains were minimal; he couldn’t squeeze out much.
"Such a meager amount; I wouldn’t take it even if it were free."
Wayne tried a few times, repeatedly extracting and injecting thoughts and Magic Power, gradually getting the hang of his newly acquired ability.
The power given by the Thousand-Eyed Demon was limited; he couldn’t effortlessly take and control thoughts like Sigma could. It was an all-around downgrade, making it incredibly difficult for Wayne to manipulate Mona’s thoughts.
Mona’s face showed terror as she realized her enemy was attempting to control her thoughts, and she hurriedly spoke, "You are a Disciple of the Blood Monarch. If he learns you have betrayed your faith, all that awaits you is destruction..."
"Shut up, or I’ll rip your tongue out if you talk nonsense."
As Wayne repeatedly studied his new ability and became proficient, his sinister hand reached for the Essence of Life, the elemental Earth, Fire, Water, and Wind within Mona.
He was not lacking Magic Power or in need of that negligible amount of thought; he desired only the Essence of Life. With an increase in the Essence of Life, thoughts and Magic Power would naturally rise.
External thoughts and Magic Power are not as secure as one’s own. Perhaps the reason the Thousand-Eyed Demon could not become a top-tier Demon King was precisely this.
Power could be both the source of success and failure.
However, the Magic Power within Mona was not entirely useless. After Wayne extracted it, The Book of Greed managed to scrounge a bit of Holy Light from between its teeth.
A mosquito’s leg is still a leg; little by little adds up and is better than nothing.
The Book of Greed grudgingly dealt with the small gain, and Wayne began to extract the Essence of Life.
Half an hour later, he slowly removed his hand. Mona’s face was flushed with an unhealthy red, her eyes hollow as she stared at the sky, cold sweat soaking through her white robe, revealing every curve of her body.
To the uninformed, it would seem as if she had been played with until broken!
Wayne frowned at his hand; though he was successful in the extraction, the efficiency was terribly low. It didn’t even compare to the Elemental Space, the Grey Space, or even his own meditation.
"What’s going on, there’s no effect at all..."
Wayne didn’t understand. He analyzed his condition and surmised two possibilities:
His Hexagram was successfully shaped, and without cultivating the Silver Crucifix Star, he couldn’t assimilate more of the Four Elements;
The Thousand-Eyed Demon only saw him as a disposable tool, ranked far below a servant like Sigma, granting him power but not much of it.
"You’re so cheap, it’s difficult for me to work with this little!"
Wayne had obtained the ability he had long desired, but alas, it was not as powerful as he had imagined, nearly no different from not having it at all.
It was like he had knelt in vain!
This wasn’t Wayne’s first confrontation with the Devil, but it was undoubtedly the most costly. He could stay calm for a moment, but the more he thought about it, the angrier he got. Not one to be duped, he immediately sentenced the Thousand-Eyed Demon to death.
"I can’t let him die that easily; the ability must remain..."
Wayne touched his chin, pondering how to get the Thousand-Eyed Demon to hand over the power voluntarily. It would be challenging; he had to earn further trust.
But trust was secondary; the word ’trust’ does not exist in the Devil’s dictionary. Instead of gaining trust, it’s better to demonstrate one’s worth, to show the Thousand-Eyed Demon that his plans cannot succeed without substantial investment in Wayne.
