Chapter 189: Chapter 113: Girl, Have You Heard of the Liberty Mage Alliance?_2
"As for darkness and death, perhaps they were intentionally brought forth by the Royal Family, all for the sake of balance."
Odilia said, "Maybe it’s because of these unsavory political factors that the believers’ perception of the Goddess’s omnipotence is affected. That’s why there’s so little record of this era within the Life Alliance, and the Heavenly Father’s Court also has few records of it due to repeated failures."
Girl, have you ever heard of the Liberty Mage Alliance?
Wayne felt this could be a lead to pursue, but then thought better of it as they weren’t that close, and there was no need to reveal too much about himself.
First things first, we’ll talk more in the future.
The time came to three o’clock, and afternoon tea was over.
Odilia stopped her incessant chatter. She was very satisfied with Wayne, her listener, and softly made plans to continue the next day. With Wayne’s tacit approval, she returned to her seat, holding two ancient books.
Since the ancient books were very valuable, and Wayne had borrowed them himself, he made a request to Odilia: they could not be taken out of the office, and gloves must be worn when browsing.
Odilia happily agreed, as long as she had books to read, these were not a problem.
"So this is what a literary girl is like. Doesn’t seem hard to win over at all. Hmm, I’ll just place a few ancient books in the bedroom someday," Wayne murmured to himself.

Theological Seminary, the main lecture hall.
Students and theological researchers entered one after the other, having been invited by Dean Julian, who did not specify the reason. At the moment, they were whispering and abuzz with speculation.
Perhaps a Devil’s follower could entice the curiosity of the scholars of the seminary, deceiving them without God or the Devil noticing, but any action would inevitably leave traces and clues.
Julian had listed the scholars who had been acting abnormally recently, sending out invitations one by one, and he even asked Bishop Keith to come and give a lecture in person.
The subject of the lecture wasn’t important, the importance lay in the Holy Water.
Bishop Keith had brought two boxes of Holy Water from the cathedral, a generous supply.
A very simple test: a Devil’s follower would only laugh at the sight of Holy Water, no matter how much there was they wouldn’t refuse it, but it would be easy to trick a nervous, guilty scholar.
Bishop Keith wore an expression of sacred solemnity. Today’s lesson related to the Devils of Hell, and during the lesson he repeatedly mentioned the Thousand-Eyed Demon. After finishing the preparations, he smiled and said, "The followers of the Thousand-Eyed Demon look no different from ordinary people, and even the clergy cannot distinguish them. They can freely enter and exit churches, walking freely under the sunlight."
"Then don’t we have no way to deal with them?"
"On the contrary, we have a full measure to deal with them."
Keith pointed to the boxes of water beside him, "I brought Holy Water from the cathedral, infused with a unique Golden Rule. This is related to an Angel who once defeated the Thousand-Eyed Demon. For more details, you can ask Dean Julian after the lesson."
"Holy Water will be distributed to each person. A follower of the Thousand-Eyed Demon will reveal their true form after drinking the Holy Water, while ordinary people will not. We will feel the brightness of the Father..."
Keith picked up a cup of Holy Water and drank, tasting it: "It’s even a bit sweet."
The half-truth roused the curiosity of many scholars, who were eager to try it for themselves.
Bishop Keith and Dean Julian observed closely but did not find any cowardly scholars. Keith left the podium and silently moved to the door of the classroom, while Julian began to distribute the Holy Water, asking the scholars to come up for it one by one.
The scholars were eager and active. With more than half of them showing no issues, the situation remained unchanged until a male student stood in front of the podium, holding the Holy Water with a stiff expression, unwilling to drink.
"Reed, what are you hesitating about?" Julian asked curiously.
"My throat is a bit dry..."
Reed swallowed, suddenly splashed the Holy Water on Dean Julian’s face, and quickly rushed to the window. With a swift step, he leapt out heading for the nearby woods.
Got you!
Bishop Keith quickly followed, his stride firm, moving even faster and with more agility than the younger man.
This scene caused an uproar in the classroom, with the scholars discussing loudly and animatedly.
Julian soothed the scholars’ emotions, asking everyone to calm down, explaining that the recent test was just to catch a thief. If anyone doubted, they could go to the cathedral and question Bishop Keith.
Trust you? As if! You old fool, you always tell us only half the story!
In the bustling classroom, a female student drank the Holy Water and, complaining of feeling unwell, hurriedly left through the back door.
"Pess, could it be you?"
Watching the student leave, Dean Julian couldn’t help feeling a deep regret. But soon he gathered his spirits and began deceiving the scholars below, attempting to trick them all into going to the cathedral.
Theological Seminary taught only theology, but if the students chose to deepen their faith at the cathedral on their own, that was none of his concern.

Pess walked briskly away from the teaching building and into the long garden path. She opened her mouth to expel the Holy Water and wiped the moisture from the corners of her mouth, a look of panic spreading across her face.
She thought of the mysterious stranger who had revealed the truths of the world. Jogging out of the Theological Seminary, she mounted a women’s bicycle and rode through the college town. After a few turns, she stopped the bike at the entrance of a narrow alley.
The entrance to the alley was extremely narrow, with high walls on both sides blocking the sunlight, casting deep shadows within.
At the end of the alley was a coffee shop with an artsy theme at its core, discreetly located and highly praised among the students.
Pess and a few friends had encountered a flirty mysterious stranger there. Reed, who had been the first to flee that day, was also present. The stranger, dressed in a sharp suit, had learned they came from the Theological Seminary and paid their bill as a friendly gesture.
The stranger spoke elegantly and was learned, a lover of poetry with a romantic air that stemmed from a mature and stable temperament, not a childish, sickly sentimentality.
Entranced by his talent, Pess could not help herself. She had been invited to a musical.
She did not refuse the stranger’s pursuit. That night, she was intoxicated by his romantic aura, swept away in its currents.
Afterward, Pess continued to meet with the mysterious man at the coffee shop, and nearly every time she went, he was there.
Today was no exception. The door chimes rang as she entered, and upon seeing the man who haunted her dreams, Pess hurried over to seek his help, "Something’s wrong. I drank Holy Water, and although I spat it out, I feel very unwell now."
"It’s okay, you just need a good sleep."
The mysterious man invited Pess to sit down, his fingertips gently brushing across her face. Her eyelids fought a battle, and she quickly collapsed on the table.
The chime of the wind bell sounded again.
Bishop Keith strode into the coffee shop, looking at the interior décor with a frown, "I thought you would turn this place into the Magic Fortress. I didn’t expect you to do nothing."
And you didn’t even run away!
"That would attract unnecessary attention. I and the master I serve do not like to be high-profile."
The stranger looked at Bishop Keith with a smile and suggested, "Your Grace, this must be our first meeting, at least the first time you are seeing me. The atmosphere is unexpectedly pleasant. How about a cup of coffee?"
He was a man dressed as the classic elite of society, but his face seemed somehow blurred. Keith saw several different appearances; despite being close at hand, he could never clearly discern the man’s true face.
Holding a Bible, Keith’s eyes emitted a bright glow as he tried to pierce through the deception to the truth.
He saw even more faces, each one fixating onto the man’s face with a vivid reality—men and women, young and old.
"Who are you?"
"Who I am is not important. In Your Grace’s eyes, I’m merely a heretic, a fool who has willfully fallen and believes in the Devil. The key question is, who are you, Your Grace..."
The corners of the man’s mouth curved into a smirk: "You might be yourself, but with a different name, you could be anyone, or you could even be me!"
Threads of demonic whispers wrapped around his ear, but Keith snorted coldly and dispelled them, "Boring tricks. You can’t tempt a clergyman to fall. Tell me, what are you doing in Jianhe County for such a long time?"
"I love it here, the artistic atmosphere intoxicates me."
The man stood up, not taking Pess as a hostage, but slowly walked towards Keith.
Keith waved his hand, scattering the Holy Light, and a white cage trapped the man on the spot.
Everything went more smoothly than expected, making Keith feel uneasy as if he had fallen into a trap set by the Devil. He sped up his speech, "You and your master like the shadows, so why expose yourself willingly?"
"That question, Your Grace, you might ask yourself..."
Within the cage, the man’s face flickered with multiple visages, suddenly bursting forward and merging into Bishop Keith’s own body.
The change was too rapid. Keith, despite his full alertness, couldn’t prevent this sudden strike.
He absentmindedly released the cage, his face morphing with multiple facets as multiple voices spoke at once: "The Holy Shroud, only the blood of the most devout saints can break the seal of Hell, and my master will descend with it."
