Chapter 160: Chapter 103: Really Not a Single Drop Left_2

"No, really, the teacher has come, and so has your father, Mister Lando; even the butler Megan is here," Wayne struggled to get up, fearing that if the old schemer saw this scene, she’d send over another wave of golden curls to seduce him.

Last time it was someone he knew, seduction only halfway triggered, next time it might be another big star, he feared he wouldn’t be able to restrain himself from submitting to them.

Wayne’s struggle was so fierce that Veronica nearly got flipped over; surprised by his strength, she pressed down on his shoulders and firmly sat back down.

"Veronica, get up, they’re really here."

"Shut up, I’ve told you not to try and fool me, it’s no use whoever comes today."

About ten seconds later, the Lundans arrived at the battleground, along with the butler, Megan.

It was a sight hard to witness: Veronica pinning Wayne down on the ground while he struggled vehemently, almost on the verge of tears.

Veronica stood up expressionlessly, dusted off her clothes, and without saying a word headed toward the pitch-black corridor.

Her pace quickened as she walked, faster and faster.

On the other side, Hefei covered her mouth with her hand, Megan carefully glanced at Austin, who had a long face, dark and elongated.

"Teacher, Mister Lando, what brings you here?"

Wayne quickly scrambled up, his fair face turning red as he explained, "It’s not what you’re thinking, Veronica and I were just messing around, I just snatched her snacks."

Austin twitched the corner of his mouth; he had made the same kind of explanation back in his day.

Hefei had a complicated expression, it was good, but... was it not too fast? Young people should still prioritize their studies.

After a brief calm, Hefei worked through the misunderstanding that wasn’t a misunderstanding, handling it like business and inquiring about the situation on Dragonheart Island.

"It’s the Evil God, the faith of blood, he made a deal with the Bart Family and found a body to descend into..."

Wayne narrated the causes and consequences, from the deals the Bart Family made with the devils, to Veronica and the Dragon Blood, to the Ancient God worshipped by the Sea God Society, not leaving out a single detail.

There was no need to hide this part; if he didn’t say it, Kel would. Seeing the Lundans rushing over, Wayne knew that Kel had the report ready.

Wayne merely omitted his own storyline, attributing the credit for defeating the Evil God to the knight, Valkyrie.

There were no eyewitnesses at the time, the involved Evil God had been expelled, and as long as Valkyrie didn’t speak up, no one would know it was Wayne who saved everyone.

Valkyrie would definitely not speak up; Wayne had discussed it with her in advance. Being too new and weak, she focused on development. Too much attention would only bring unnecessary trouble.

Logical and justified, Valkyrie agreed.

Wayne recounted quickly, having prepared and memorized his lines well in advance. Hefei wanted to ask for details but was stopped by Austin shaking his head.

The environment was too poor, they would find a better place to sit down and talk slowly.

...

Beachside villa by the sea.

Hefei took her daughter to the second floor to check her body, while in the living room center, two dark-haired men sat opposite each other, both poised and dignified.

In a metal box beside them were a set of knight’s armor and a knight’s sword.

Valkyrie was a disassemblable female knight in the box, ready to be packed up and carried away in a suitcase when needed.

The butler Megan brought over some black tea, silently serving a cup each to the master and the young master before retreating to the back of the sofa, without making a single sound.

Ignoring Megan’s actions, it was the first time Wayne and Austin had been alone together, with no awkward small talk, neither uttering a word.

In a way, this was an understanding; there was nothing to say, just looking was annoying enough.

As time ticked by, Megan watched the two men intently, speculating on who would break the silence first.

"Wayne, let’s go fishing!"

It was Vee who broke the silence, surprising Megan who hadn’t anticipated it.

Vee came into the living room with her usual infectious laugh, toning it down when she saw Austin was also present, politely addressing him as uncle.

Austin’s smile bloomed, his attitude towards Vee very warm.

Veronica didn’t have many friends. Since Hefei had gone to Paris, her smiles had become rarer day by day, and her personality grew progressively colder. Vee was one of the rare few who could penetrate Veronica’s icy façade, also being her college roommate; Austin was very fond of this junior.

Today was no exception, and he liked her even more.

Seeing Wayne being pulled away by Vee, acting exceptionally intimate, clearly beyond just friends, Austin first despised the lecherous pretty boy but then pretended to see nothing, silently encouraging Vee to intensify her pursuit, preferably to succeed immediately.

Young girl, trust your eyes, you’ve indeed chosen a fine man.

His heartfelt congratulations were limited to someone else’s daughter; it’s not painful when it’s not your own. If it were his own daughter, Austin certainly wouldn’t say the same.

After the two left, Austin turned his gaze to the metal box in the corner and frowned deeply.

The knight of the Sun Goddess...

The situation in Lundan was getting messier.

Hefei, the High Priest of the Church, had a busy schedule. Only the excuse of investigating the descent of the Evil God allowed for a rare outing; she wouldn’t stay on Dragonheart Island for long.

After confirming Veronica was unharmed and her bloodline even purer, Hefei returned to the underground aqueduct to check the Magic Array for Dragon Blood Reconstruct to see if a bit more could be squeezed out.

Dragonheart Island: Not a single drop was left.

As for the faith in the Ancient God of the Sea God Society, Hefei actually didn’t give it much importance. The Ancient God was an elusive legend found only in books, a very ancient faith lacking practical reference value. Marking a dangerous location, she only needed to report it to the Church headquarters.

Not valuing something didn’t mean it was unimportant—in fact, quite the opposite. It was so important that whether or not an Ancient God appeared, the Magic Realm basically adopted a laid-back attitude.
