Chapter 1346: Chapter 448: The Small Grove, Rushing Forward_2
If it doesn’t succeed, he will mobilize the power of the Holy See to search for the Death Church headquarters and report to Wayne at the earliest possible time.
"I trust you to handle things. What level is the Death Pope, claiming to be a Pope like you? He’s doomed."
Wayne never doubted Risa’s capabilities. That old guy is definitely the shrewdest among all the church leaders. While the other popes were still flattering their superiors, the Pope had already been using angels to strengthen the Papal State.
And he mastered the balance excellently, leaving the angels helpless, only able to watch as he earned his ticket to Heaven.
Of course, this was not all Risa’s credit. It was the accumulated wisdom of past popes, with Risa merely being the one to consolidate it all, coincidentally catching the most powerful batch of reincarnated angels.
Four of the Seven Virtues appeared, such a grand occasion had never occurred before, nor would it happen again.
"Your turn now, continue with the lecture today. The podium is ready, go preach the doctrine of death!" Wayne tapped Sukra on the back, urging her to hurry up.
Sukra sighed deeply, dragging her heavy steps to work, her shaky appearance as if she’d worked hard the entire night.
Risa suddenly realized, the investigation report was correct. After Hexuno descended to the mortal world, she was very down-to-earth. The two nuns didn’t receive the Holy Light’s blessing last night because Hexuno was busy with the Death Holy Maiden and couldn’t extricate herself.
"Mister Wayne, after all, she is the Holy Maiden. Is this really appropriate?"
"I know you misunderstood, but I still have to say, it’s not a big problem. By doing this, the Goddess of Death should thank me!"
"..."
You slept with the vessel the goddess descended into the mortal world, and the goddess should thank you... Is there really such a goddess in this world?
————
Time flew by, and five days passed with Wayne claiming he was traveling far, but in reality, spending each night in Lundan.
Today with one, tomorrow with another, balancing work and life effortlessly.
Sukra worked for five days straight, feeling dazed. Used to the sofa, she recalled her earlier hard days and found it increasingly unbelievable, unable to figure out how she managed to endure it before.
Working is too tiring; being kept by a capitalist is more comfortable.
Every day, Pope Risa would pass by the palace gates, noting Sukra’s increasingly unsteady gait, while the two nuns remained so pure. He found Wayne’s real intentions more and more elusive.
You say he’s pure, yet he’s full of vigor each morning; you say he’s not, yet the nuns remain unharmed.
Confused as he was, Wayne’s satisfied demeanor regarding the two nuns’ devout faith clearly indicated that though unused now, one day it would come in handy.
...
On the afternoon of May 29th.
In the small forest, rushing in haste.
Fleeing was Hexuno, breath urgent, with the hem of her white nun’s robe stained with blood, looking severely injured.
These days, the Holy Maiden of the Death Church inexplicably started preaching in the Papal State and even injured several Legendary Mages from the Holy Light Knights.
Pope Risa was thunderously angry, immediately ordering further observation, suspecting there was a trick since dying without cause was unexpected for this church.
While strictly monitoring Sukra, he released information and finally made contact with the higher-ups of the Death Church.
The envoy of the Death Pope arrived in the Papal State, and Pope Risa summoned a night meeting, questioning the Death Church’s intentions with a grim face.
The envoy hurriedly explained that Holy Maiden Sukra rebelled years ago and was stripped of her title by the Pope, not even counting as temporary staff, with her actions unrelated to the Death Church.
Risa was skeptical; how could a Holy Maiden be easily discarded? The Death Pope didn’t have that authority. Even in the Naturalism Church, Holy Maidens are replaced every twenty years, and unless they commit a fundamental error, no one can dismiss a Holy Maiden.
Furthermore, if Sukra’s Holy Maiden status was revoked years ago, why mention it now, and why was the Heavenly Father’s Court never informed?
The envoy couldn’t explain, offering a myriad of benefits instead, using worldly wisdom to appease the Papal State’s fury.
A lot was offered!
Risa’s expression improved slightly, though not by much, after a discussion with the envoy, agreeing on a plan to acquire Sukra in the Papal State and have the Death Church seize her once outside its borders.
Risa’s demands weren’t many; the Death Church must kill Sukra in front of him, proving with her death that her preaching was a personal act, unrelated to the Death Church officially.
Killing a Holy Maiden with one’s own hands is a grave sin in any church, with Risa’s few demands being extremely unreasonable.
The envoy hesitated, not agreeing immediately, went back and forth, conveyed the Death Pope’s orders, and both sides settled on the time and place of Sukra’s death, with the Death Pope pledging to apologize to Risa face-to-face after dealing with the traitor.
And so, the current scene unfolded.
Sukra was chased out of the Papal State by the Holy Light Knights, pursued by many, with angels above, Legendary Mages below, and the Pope’s carriage in the distance.
Surrounded on three sides, the exit blocked by the robust forces of the Death Church, Death Pope Kenneth, and Great Prophet Duane were present, aiming to eliminate the hidden threat of Sukra once and for all.
In this battle, the Death Church had mobilized all its forces.
Firstly to deal with Sukra, a master guerrilla warrior even before the fight; secondly, to defend against the Heavenly Father’s Court, ensuring they were not overshadowed in momentum.
Barring surprises, Sukra was doomed to die.
Boom!!
A towering white bone wall rose from the ground, bone-thorned briars erupted from the ground, sealing every direction and cutting off Sukra’s escape route.
Above the ten-meter-high wall, several gray-robed figures appeared, led by the Pope and the Great Prophet, a man and a woman.
