Chapter 132: Chapter 92: The Air Trembles, as if the Sky is on Fire

The next morning, Wayne got up refreshed and opened the door of his room to head to the dining hall, where he ordered a breakfast, lunch, and dinner meal package.

The Grey Space was enormous and ensured a full belly, even wider than the Void Lord’s Elemental Space. He gorged himself all night and managed to max out the illuminated Fire Element.

He stuffed himself to the point of choking, and any more would have made him throw up.

Without the Fire Element leading the charge, the remaining Three Elements avoided Wayne like the plague.

Luckily, The Book of Greed hadn’t had its fill; the eyeballs on the corners of the cover were still accepting all comers, and with the Fire Element’s coercion, earth, water, and air reluctantly entered the Tentacle Monster’s body.

Wayne figured that if he was quick about it, he could fill up the Essence of Life in three days and light up all points of the Hexagram within ten.

After that, all that was left was to maintain the balance and naturally let the Hexagram come together.

Finally, the newbie phase was about to end!

Wayne, happy with his good fortunes, felt that joining the Liberty Mage Alliance was definitely the best decision he had made.

"Wayne!"

A loud shout stopped Wayne in his tracks. He turned to see Director Wallace with a big beard and eyes full of bloodshot veins, clearly having pulled an all-nighter.

In high spirits, Wayne found everything pleasing to the eye – the sea was blue, female stars were shapely, and even the bearded guy didn’t look half bad. He couldn’t help but tease, "Director Wallace, why so baggy-eyed? Did you discuss the script with the leading lady last night?"

"Lilly is the big star brought in by the production company. She’s even higher up than me; I can’t hold a candle to her. There’s more dialogue with the second female lead under the covers than her," retorted Wallace, approaching Wayne with noticeable dissatisfaction.

Wayne laughed even harder. "You talk about dialogue under the covers at night like you’re giving clinical guidance."

"I’m a director, not a doctor."

"..."

Damn, that actually made sense!

Wayne was convinced, admitting that Wallace was a cut above the rest and a big shot in the entertainment industry.

"Where did you run off to last night? Why couldn’t I find you anywhere?" Wallace went on the offensive first.

Wayne retaliated with full confidence, "I was out on the deck getting blasted by the cold wind all night. You didn’t even glance my way and took others on an adventure to the Ghost Ship. Since I don’t get paid for acting, I might as well go back to sleep."

It seemed that was really the case.

Skipping that point, Wallace excitedly said, "Last night, footage of the Ghost Ship gave me loads of inspiration, but it’s a shame it sank in the late night. Otherwise, I could have shot more useful scenes. I’ve decided to change the script, deleting your bed scene and building a storyline around the Ghost Ship instead."

"Do whatever, I thought about it last night and I don’t want to be part of the show anymore."

Wayne pursed his lips a bit disappointedly, now completely fixed on his magical practice and having lost interest in acting.

Since he couldn’t find a way to ascend yesterday and had time to kill, he didn’t mind taking measurements of the female stars himself, considering it a way to pass time.

But now, with time being precious, female stars suddenly lost their appeal.

Wallace was stupefied for a moment, then hastily said, "Think it over again, there’s no bed scene but there’s still a kissing scene. This is Lilly’s first on-screen kiss, and countless men will envy you not knowing it’s shot with stand-ins. That is an honor for a warrior."

"No thanks, I have a girlfriend, and she’d get mad."

"Nonsense, you don’t understand women. To kiss the lips that have touched Lilly’s, your girlfriend would be too busy bragging to get angry," Wallace disagreed.

"Still, I’d rather not..."

"What if I add the bed scene back in?"

"Ah, that..."

Wayne’s fingers twitched at the memory of the starlet’s figure and face, slightly torn, but then he decided against it. Times had changed, and cultivation was more important.

The cabin door closed, leaving a dumbfounded Wallace outside. There actually was a man who could resist Lilly’s charm. Even if the kissing was faked and he couldn’t truly taste her lips, cuddling and hugging were very much real.

Be a bit smarter, and with a few retakes, you’d have her in your arms for a good while!

For a moment, Wallace admired Wayne’s restraint, admitting he was a good man free of vulgar interests and truly in love with his girlfriend.

"Psh, idiot!"

Thump, thump, thump!

"Wayne, it’s me, open the door. Let’s talk it over," pleaded Wallace.

"Open up, there’s no medicine for regret in this world, you only get one chance."

"Come on, open the door!"

"Fine, fine, it’s your call not to open the door. Just don’t come begging me later!"

————

"What do you mean he said no?"

In another cabin, Lilly was retouching her makeup for the next scene and was surprised upon hearing the news, "Are you sure he declined and isn’t just asking for more money?"

Wallace said disdainfully, "He immediately snubbed the offer when he heard the bed scene was out. Clearly, he’s drooling over your beauty..."

"Hold on, why is the bed scene out?" Lilly interrupted, frowning.

"Last night’s footage of the Ghost Ship sparked an excellent idea that can support a strong internal character setting. Considering the running time, I decided to cut that part out," explained Wallace.

"Add it back in!"

"Uh..."

Wallace was dumbfounded. Do you like being on top that much?

"Bring him back; he is the male lead. I won’t shoot with anyone else," insisted Lilly, having finished retouching her makeup. She looked into the mirror, pressing her red lips together, resolved to bare herself for the sake of her art in front of the camera. The kissing scene had to be genuine, with every required shot present, even if, for runtime considerations, the director would cut the bed scene later. It had to be filmed.

Wallace was so envious he felt like his fists were turning to stone. He almost wished to kill Wayne right then and take his place.

"What are you waiting for, go now!"

"But I just..."

"Go."

————

Thump, thump, thump!

"Wayne, it’s me again, Wallace."

"Just now there were too many people around. Open the door, let’s talk inside."

"The bed scene is back on, you can kiss anywhere you like."

The cabin door swung open, and Wayne looked at the bearded man with an expression of speechlessness. Since when did kissing wherever you like become part of a serious film?
