Chapter 1316: Chapter 440: I’ve walked on thin ice all my life, can you say whether I’ll make it to the other side?_4

The order remains unchanged; what it was before, it will be the same in the future.

Windsor is still under the control of the Lando Family, the Queen remains the same Queen, enjoying the glory and noble status of the Royal Family.

Upon hearing this, the Insectoids understood.

In last night’s game of strategy and physical exchanges, the Lando Family defeated the Queen’s backers, and the opposing side surrendered unconditionally. Both sides then shook hands, reaching a truce.

Pedro is Archangel Uriel, Wayne is Archangel Hexuno, and the Blood of Saint George is exceptionally distinguished, originating from another Archangel, Michael.

The Insectoids felt both proud and fortunate, openly exclaiming their happiness; being in the same room with the mythical Archangels made them feel their own sins might evolve, enabling their ascension to Heaven in the future.

Simultaneously, they cast envious glances toward Austin, whose son is an Archangel. Surely, he’d receive preferential treatment upon ascending to Heaven.

In the Mortal World, they worked as his lackeys; even in Heaven, they’d still be his lackeys. Same group of Insectoids, yet why was his son so impressive?

The content of the meeting didn’t excite anyone, leaving certain Insectoids who had hoped for drama disappointed. Even Austin found it dull, resorting to telepathic transmission to inquire about the Black Cat from Wayne.

"How’s Monica doing?"

"Nothing special. Apart from excessive energy and a penchant for wandering about, she’s just like an ordinary cat," Wayne replied.

During the day, Monica tried to catch Ah Xue—things weren’t harmonious between feline species. By night, she messed around with Yuliya and Ah Bin, her energy boundless.

By the way, photos of her wandering have already been taken.

An entire collection, processed and stored by Wayne in his Personal Space.

The photographs were taken by Philark.

The Butler was still as reliable as ever.

"Is she truly the Goddess of Death?"

"Who knows? At least she seems accustomed to staying at Wayne Manor and shows no signs of wanting to return to Lando Manor."

Wayne, having said that, shifted the topic: "Yesterday’s banquet at Lando Manor didn’t cause any hiccups, right?"

"Yesterday..."

Austin smirked knowingly, aware of Wayne’s concerns, teasingly saying, "If you’re so worried, why don’t you go back and check yourself? Tsk, the scene was truly grand. Are you sure you can handle it?"

"It wasn’t as exaggerated as you say..."

Wayne pouted. Yesterday, Philomena and Mona/Hexuno were beside him. Though there seemed to be many women at Lando Manor, only a handful had real ties to him.

Aside from the three young ones, there were only Odilia and Anastasia.

Just enough to be counted on one hand, proving his moderation and lack of sordid behavior.

Wayne knew that Moonlight, except when facing Saina’s provocations, didn’t fight or vie in general. She only entered under the guise of a bodyguard, never claiming the title of Dark Saintess openly as his girlfriend.

Odilia, on the other hand, was slightly competitive, creating friction with Veronica, turning any commotion into an affair revolving around them.

"The Naturalism Church’s Holy Maiden candidates you gathered were exposed, and Slyphy saw through their identities..."

Austin elaborated on yesterday’s events: two Resentful Spirits competing with Slyphy for the Holy Maiden title in the same year were recognized at a glance, prompting her to deduce the identities of the others.

Then there was Lisbeth, a Resentful Spirit whose overly lively personality caused her to strut around wearing the skin of the former Holy Maiden Flora before Slyphy, earning her an unfortunate punch.

This incident left Slyphy extremely annoyed, feeling as if The Church was utterly rotten.

With so many beauties around, Slyphy soon brightened up again, asking questions one by one, not sparing even Isabella, who had been eating all along, or Sukra, who had completely given up.

Despite the chaotic atmosphere, overall, Slyphy managed to stay reasonably cheerful.

"What about you? Were you happy?"

Wayne’s interest perked: "Did you meet the former Dark Knight? Did you seek advice on swordsmanship?"

"..."

Austin remained silent, automatically ignoring the topic.

A memory not worth recalling; he had been randomly beaten, then mockingly ridiculed afterwards. When asking why, he was told the order came from someone higher up.

The identity of that person wasn’t revealed by Vizi, nor did Austin bother guessing.

"By the way, when did you become so close with the Sun and Moonlight Churches?"

"Always have been!"

Wayne shrugged. Viley and Valkyrie hailed from the Sun Church, Chris and Philomena from the Moonlight Church—a good relationship was natural.

"No, the Holy Maidens of the Sun and Moonlight Churches were also there."

"???"

Question marks swirled across Wayne’s forehead as he urged Austin to elaborate.

Soon, Wayne understood the reason.

During the Paris incident, he provoked Cote, prompting Guinevere to leave, explicitly stating her intent to visit him at Lando Manor. Following their communications, the two Holy Maidens and Goddess received orders and arrived at Lando Manor.

"So that’s how it is..."

Wayne’s eyes lit up. The Sun and Moonlight Goddesses had ordered their Holy Maidens to offer themselves freely, investing in him overall. He clarified the involvement of the Dark Goddess and Twilight Deadlock, emphasizing that since Darkness had added their stake, they’d have to follow suit to avoid being surpassed by the rival faction.

Resources began pouring in!

"Where are the two Holy Maidens?"

"They left by noon, departing with Chris and Viley—perhaps to Wayne Manor, or maybe The Church’s regional headquarters."

"Got it."

Wayne rubbed his hands together, his expression slightly lecherous. To the uninformed, it would seem he was eagerly anticipating virtuous deeds.

Austin didn’t think of it that way, furrowing his brow as he said, "You’re tangled with Death and Darkness, now actively courting the Sun and Moonlight factions—aren’t you afraid of collapsing the precarious balance?"

He urged Wayne to quit while he was ahead, reminding him of the historical fate of opportunistic fence-sitters: serving as lackeys for one faction was bearable, but trying to serve several Goddesses simultaneously would result in being torn apart.

"Indeed, I’ve lived this life walking on thin ice. Do you think I can reach the other shore?" Wayne sighed sentimentally.

Austin immediately recognized that Wayne had taken his words to heart, rolling his eyes and stopping his attempts to persuade further. Optimistically, he mused that perhaps Slyphy’s value might rise as a result.

Should the wife rise in status, he too might ascend—it was a good thing.

Hexuno glanced at Austin with a trace of sympathy in her eyes. She was the Saint Heir’s father in the Mortal World; one could only hope he’d still love his wife upon learning the truth.

Once the meeting concluded, Wayne eagerly left the conference hall, heading straight back to Wayne Manor.

Midway, he realized Hexuno wasn’t following.

"That fellow, could she actually dare disobey my orders?"

Wayne furrowed his brow, saying to Heya, "Attend the Reincarnated Angel meeting and keep an eye on Hexuno. If she brings up the Saint Heir inappropriately, interrupt her."

Watching Heya leave with the command, Wayne shook his head silently. Even after clarification, she remained doubtful—too stubborn.

"Not a bad trait. Stupidity can be an asset, and with absolute loyalty, it’s practically flawless."

Wayne approached the black car, started the engine, and drove toward Wayne Manor.

Only to find nothing.

"Where did those guys run off to?"

"Sir, Lady Chris, upon learning you spent last night at Miss Philomena’s residence, has already headed there," Philark stepped forward at the critical moment.

"How did Chris find out?"

"Lady Viley guessed it."

"Tsk, truly deserving of her senior title—she even seduced the undercover agents I deployed..."
