Chapter 129: Chapter 90: Director: You Play the Pervert_2

This was the style Philark had designed for him; apart from slightly resembling Mister Lando, the rest was quite fitting.

Wayne patted his face, looking at his reflection in the mirror, "A spitting image, quite handsome."

He picked up his suit jacket, draped it over his shoulder, and according to the map in the corridor, found his way to the cruise ship bar. He ordered a juice, four sandwiches, and several snacks.

Coming to a bar and not drinking alcohol, you’re somewhat peculiar, aren’t you!

The bartender smiled slightly; the customer is Heavenly Father, satisfying all of Wayne’s needs and reminding him of the restaurant’s opening hours. All expenses were included in the fare, and if Wayne wished, the restaurant’s waiters would deliver the food to his cabin.

The music in the bar was soft, and the lighting wasn’t dim; besides Wayne, there were only a few pairs of guests in twos.

All couples.

As the only single person in the venue, Wayne sped up his eating, finishing off the sandwiches and enjoying the after-meal snacks.

The bartender offered a cocktail, which Wayne declined. Drinking could lead to trouble; juice was enough for him.

At this moment, the film crew arrived on the scene. The director, a big man with a beard and wearing a hat, directed the set-up, and within just five minutes, they had put together a temporary film site.

It was Wayne’s first time seeing a filming site; he stayed out of curiosity to watch.

Soon, the female lead entered in a long white dress, her golden hair in big waves, lips startlingly red, her charm stunning.

Strictly speaking, the leading lady’s attire wasn’t revealing and could even be described as conservative, but she had an allure that was both pure and enticing. With her heavy, glamorous makeup, she immediately became radiant, her sensuality enticingly radiating from within.

Wayne couldn’t take his eyes off her.

Familiar!

When he had first arrived, posters of this female star were all over the room.

Not just posters but also a spell-casting manual, which was highly critical; it astounded Wayne so much that he felt the original host of his body shouldn’t have become a detective—he should have become a novelist instead.

A century later, why not a giant in the literary world?

Wayne had a deep impression of this female star and clearly remembered her name, Lily Hayworth, whose primary identity was a singer, and who would occasionally act in films.

"Indeed a surprise..."

Wayne shakily raised his juice, perhaps due to muscle memory from his original body, as seeing his idol in person, his hands couldn’t help but itch to move.

At the temporary filming site, the director was explaining the scene to Lily, but soon, the film crew encountered a problem.

The actor playing the third male lead hadn’t boarded the ship, and the crew had been busy all day, only realizing they were missing this actor when it was time to film.

"Lost?"

"What do you mean by ’lost’? "

"How can you lose the third male lead? How did none of you lose your brains in Lundan? These scenes are crucial, they all rely on the third male lead to set off the lead female’s strong inner character. Where am I supposed to find someone now?" The director went into hairdryer mode, roaring loudly at his underlings.

Wow, a mishap!

Wayne happily watched the excitement; after the surprise, there was an even bigger one. His trip was not in vain; he had struck it rich.

Across the way, the female lead Lily put down her script, comforting the director to not be anxious. They were shooting a monster-themed film, and the second male lead was already dispensable, not to mention the third male lead, who had so little screen time. Any crew member could easily take his place.

The director thought it made sense and, pointing at his big face, asked, "Lily, do you think I could play the third male lead?"

Lily rolled her eyes dismissively, "Wallace, the third male lead is supposed to be a handsome young man, at least visually compatible with the female lead. Your face is too out of place."

Director Wallace secretly felt it was a pity; there was a bed scene with the female lead which he had been looking forward to.

There was no choice, he would have to discuss the script with the second female lead tonight.

Wallace picked out a few young men from the crew with passable looks, but Lily rejected each one; either too tall, too fat, or too bald, none of them qualified.

Wallace spread his hands, "Then tell me what to do. Our shooting schedule is tight, and we must finish the scenes on the cruise ship."

Lily looked around, ignoring several chest-protruding male lovers, and pointed her finger at the single man Wayne.

"Him then."

"Him?!"

Wallace turned his head to look. The man’s appearance was passable, a tad more handsome than himself, but ordinary people don’t know how to act; if he didn’t shoot well, wouldn’t it be a waste of time?

"If he doesn’t shoot well, we’ll just do more takes tonight." Lily was quite straightforward.

"I don’t mind, as long as you’re not afraid of being crushed..."

Wallace said sourly, walking briskly to Wayne’s dining table and plopping down beside him, "Wallace, the director of the ’King Kong’ production team. And how might I address you, sir?"

"Wayne."

Wayne looked at the bearded director in surprise. What Kong? That giant ape that fought airplanes on top of The Empire State Building?

Wow, it’s even a famous film history masterpiece!

Wayne felt like he had hit the jackpot. This world didn’t have the bald eagle, hence no Empire State Building, and he was curious where the gorilla would fight the planes. If it was the Eiffel Tower, he’d advise the director to work fast, because in a couple of years, that tower wouldn’t be under the control of the French anymore.

"Mister Wayne, due to certain reasons, our production team is desperately in need of a good-looking male lead for the third role. Would you be interested?"

"Director, you have an eye for talent!"

"Heh heh..."

Wallace said enviously, "Don’t be in such a hurry to agree. The third male lead has a racy scene, and your co-star would be that Lady Lily Hayworth over there."

Then I really should hurry up and agree!

As Wayne noticed the envious, jealous, and hateful looks of the surrounding men, he picked up his juice to calm his shock and said in doubt, "Director Wallace, I can’t act. I’m not even an actor. Isn’t the role of the third male lead too important, are you sure I can handle it?"

"Of course. In the script, the third male is one of the pursuers of the female protagonist. He is handsome on the outside but dark-hearted on the inside. When his advances on the protagonist are rejected, he contemplates doing something vile. You look perfect for the part."

Wallace was piercing with his words, "Trust me, I am excellent at coaching young actors. Just rein it in a bit during shooting, and you’ll be able to play the part naturally."

Wayne: (눈_눈)

Just because you have a big beard that makes you look like a director, doesn’t mean you can talk nonsense. With my face and my temperament, I’m the very image of a fair and just character. How can it be a natural performance for me?

Let me give you another chance to choose your words, or else you might find yourself with an unexpected fall into the sea tonight.

Wayne issued a concrete barrel warning, but Wallace seemed more addicted to his pitch, "Actually, you don’t need to overthink it. It doesn’t matter if you have no acting skills. After all, it’s the great beauty, Lily Hayworth. Most of your major scenes with her are in bed, plus the living room and the corridor. In front of her, any normal man can convincingly portray a lecherous image."

Your logic is so compelling, I find myself unable to argue!

"If the production truly needs someone, I’ll do it..."

Wayne struggled inwardly for 0.1 seconds, thinking that if he didn’t take the part, it would only benefit the other men present, especially the director who was stroking his beard constantly, probably contemplating shaving it off and going onstage himself.

Pah, despicable!

All he thinks about are dirty things and taking advantage of a woman. Not like me, who, in the spirit of a butler’s elegant upbringing, is determined to protect the lady from the lecherous hands. To fulfill the same-bed dream, I am willing to make the heartbreaking sacrifice.

"So, are there any kissing scenes?" Wayne asked, taking the script with eagerness.

"Don’t get any ideas; Lily has her requirements. The kissing scenes will be shot separately."

"..."

What a lack of commitment to the art, no self-discipline of an actor, utterly unprofessional!

Wayne flipped through the script. The lead male was King Kong, the second male was a ’woeful victim with a babyface’, the third was a lech, and the rest were just background characters.

Indeed, the third male’s plot wasn’t extensive; aside from his grand, righteous entrance, dressed sharp and behaving like a gentleman. The remaining scenes were all about trying to rip off the protagonist’s skirt in various ways, chasing her from the hallway to the bedroom, all while wrestling and fighting, until the second male arrived to save the day.

In his final appearance, the third male would have a change of heart, bravely protecting the protagonist, only to get flattened by a foot of King Kong.

Yes, in this movie, King Kong was the villain, without any tragically beautiful interspecies romance, just a monster who liked collecting blonde figurines.

Wayne had some regrets about taking the script. It was his first appearance on the big screen, and if the audience typecast him, marking him as a pervert, how would he ever expand his acting career?

Oh, but if I don’t act afterward, then it’s not a problem.

Buzz buzz buzz————

Suddenly, the cruise ship’s horn blared loudly, and a dark, heavy aura filled the air.

From outside the bar came the sailors’ cries of alarm, as the cruise ship unexpectedly came to a halt.

Wayne frowned, sensing a dense aura of darkness in the air. He joined everyone on the deck and, in the thick of the night, saw a slowly approaching black sailboat.

Squeak!

Creak creak———

The dilapidated and rotting hull was full of holes, and the black sails flapped in the wind, causing the mast to emit a spooky creaking noise...
