Chapter 124: Chapter 88: Invitation
Mister Lando can do without you, I cannot!
Each word thundered in his ears, making Philark’s heart race. Thinking of Megan by Austin’s side, his feelings were complex.
Just as he was about to say something, the doorbell rang—the guests had arrived at the mansion’s gates.
"Don’t fret over this, it doesn’t matter to me. Like I said, time will prove everything."
Wayne smiled slightly, urging Philark to switch into work mode quickly. It was the new home’s first time hosting guests, and with three ladies visiting, it was imperative to maintain elegant manners.
Philark nodded and bowed slightly before departing.
"This is my first confession, you better not dump me..."
Watching Philark’s retreating figure, Wayne muttered quietly, branding Austin with the big bad guy label in his mind.
Wayne felt cuckolded; all this time, it had been Austin playing the victim. Little did he expect the roles to reverse today, the victim turning into the cuckold.
The Pure Love War God, relentlessly pursued by the Minotaur, now found himself on the edge of a cliff, with an abyss behind him and no way back.
"No, that’s not right, Philark is the butler of the Lando Family, he came first, it’s me who cuckolded him."
Wayne changed his perspective and suddenly realized that it wasn’t him, the Pure Love Warrior, standing on the cliff’s edge—it was Austin.
The one wielding the battle-axe Minotaur was him!
"So I’m not the Pure Love War God..."
Wayne muttered under his breath with frustration. Life was like this, people often end up becoming the very thing they despise.
"There’s a guest coming tonight with the Lando surname. Like father, like son. You’re up tonight. I’ll get you drunk and reclaim some interest."
...
In front of the estate, a black sedan stopped, and three vibrant young girls stepped out.
Two blondes, one platinum, so to speak, three ’blondes’.
Looking up at Wayne’s new home, Willy covered her chest in distress and asked, "Veronica, tell me the truth, did you pay for his living expenses to afford such a nice house?"
"No."
Veronica turned her head away; it wasn’t her who had kept Wayne, it was her mother.
"Damn it, a guy who could only eat potatoes a few months ago suddenly becomes wealthy, it’s so upsetting!" Willy was determined to turn her sorrow into appetite and aimed to eat Wayne into poverty that night and then move him back to the run-down Detective Agency.
If she couldn’t bankrupt him in one meal, she’d eat there multiple times, and she would come every day.
After all, the gym wasn’t far, just a twenty-minute bike ride away.
Chrissy watched the two with a somewhat forlorn smile. From Veronica, she had learned that Wayne had joined the Naturalism Church.
And his teacher was the new High Priest, Veronica’s mother.
It was she who had come first, she who had discovered Wayne’s talent, the first to teach Wayne how to use magic.
Chrissy regretted it so much. If only she hadn’t had an emergency three months ago, Wayne should have believed in the Moonlight Goddess like her.
Goddess above, where can I find a time machine?
"Three esteemed guests, welcome."
Wayne, donning a custom-made black suit, stood at the door with an angelic appearance, arms open wide for a long-awaited reunion hug as he saw the three beautiful girls.
Veronica looked disgusted. What was he thinking; there was no way there would be a hug.
"Ah, Wayne."
Willy rushed over with a vigorous step, slamming into Wayne’s chest, giving him a very intimate hug.
Wayne stumbled back a step and, seizing the moment, lifted Willy and spun her around. Given Willy’s diminutive stature below 1.7 meters and her matching personality, the two looked very much like a couple.
Wayne set Willy down and turned to Chrissy, arms open, ready for another.
Thanks to Willy’s assist, otherwise, he might have only gotten a peck on the fingernail.
"Me too?"
Chrissy looked at Wayne in surprise, and seeing him nod repeatedly, she smiled openly and gave him a gentle hug.
She was very tender, more of a lady than Willy. The hug wasn’t intimate, and she kept a good measure of distance, neither too aloof nor overly affectionate.
"Pervert!"
Veronica spared no feelings in revealing someone’s true nature. Seeing Wayne look her way, she gave a cold huff.
Exceptions were made for Willy; Chrissy acted out of courtesy. Both hugs had their reasons, but she wouldn’t give Wayne a chance to hope for her embrace.
"Veronica, you’ve come too. The gift was great; I really liked it."
Wayne nodded in greeting, lifting the fingertips of the two young ladies with gentlemanly grace, inviting them to enter and be his guests.
"When I was in Enrold Town, I discovered an interesting new culinary technique. I wonder if you’ll like it."
"Is it tasty?"
"Very tasty."
"Then I’ll like it."
Veronica: "..."
Where was the hug, why did it not happen with her?
Wasn’t it meant to be that Wayne wanted a hug, and she was supposed to adamantly refuse? Why did he just walk away?
What did it mean, did he look down on her?
Veronica clenched her teeth and followed behind Wayne. It was one thing not to give her a chance to refuse a hug, but to deliberately not help her forward, this jerk was becoming more detestable.
At the dining table, host and guests were seated, and since the hot pot didn’t require a complex serving process, the combination of meats and vegetables was left to personal preference.
Because the base was too greasy and the guests were three young girls, Philark had prepared a clear broth pot separately and set up a small table for fruits.
When taking stock of the assets, Philark found a hidden compartment in the basement with several bundles of cash, three boxes of jewelry and diamonds, and two crates of gold.
The hidden compartment wasn’t recorded in the legal accounts; Philark didn’t speak of it or inquire, directly considering it Wayne’s private property and drafted a financial statement for his master to sign.
