Chapter 1197: Chapter 411: The Ultimate in Life, The Ultimate Life
Do you really think there’ll be a next time?
Are you even listening to yourself? Is this something a God-chosen Knight should say?
Wayne’s arrogant remarks were shamelessly disrespectful, showing no consideration for the Holy Maiden.
Guinevere and Cote, fuming with anger, entered a church to set up a Magic Array for contacting the Goddess and to request a Divine Decree, compelling the Moonlight/Sun Knight to apologize for their words and actions.
Wayne sauntered behind them, and as two enormous Magic Arrays lit up, the two Holy Maidens, bathed in their glow, appeared exceptionally beautiful and sanctified, fitting his stereotype of Holy Maidens perfectly.
"Wait a minute, it looks like they haven’t scrubbed off the stories on their legs, is that really okay?"
Wayne muttered to himself, and then sat down to sense the surroundings as Givenchy brought over a chair.
His thoughts dispersed, examining the operation of the Magic Array, as well as the communication signals between the Holy Maidens and the Goddess.
He didn’t dare send his thoughts into the Divine Nation, and due to intense curiosity, he resorted to this method to collect some information first.
Through the foggy awareness, Wayne sensed two gazes directed at him, promptly straightened up, and closed off his thoughts to pretend he wasn’t snooping around.
The gazes lingered on Wayne for a while, as if they were aware of each other’s presence, then left without overstay on Wayne.
The headquarters of the Sun and Moonlight Churches are located in Greece, having been neighbors for many years. According to the dichotomy of light and darkness, the enemies of the two Goddesses are Darkness.
But in reference to the Evolution of the Life Alliance, the Sun and Moonlight have another formidable enemy on the path of evolution—Nature.
The arch-nemesis of Nature is Death, and the ally of Death is Darkness...
The five Goddesses have somehow created a bunch of chat groups, and their relationships are as plastic as it gets.
After a while, the light from the Magic Array dimmed, and the two Holy Maidens opened their eyes to look at each other.
Cote’s face was filled with sorrow, her eyes red, Guinevere clenched her teeth and gave Cote a look.
If you can’t talk, then don’t. Leave it to me to handle from here. All Cote has to do is keep her mouth shut.
Cote nodded frantically, promising not to say a word from then on.
The two had known each other for years and could be considered childhood friends. Although somewhat plastic, their relationship was more harmonious than that between Saina and Anastasia, with a tacit understanding so strong that no telepathic transmission was necessary—a mere exchange of looks was enough for them to communicate freely.
After regaining their composure, they both turned to look at Wayne.
Cote wore an expressionless face, while Guinevere’s lips curved into a cold sneer: "Knight Lord, just as you said, you indeed are the Moonlight Knight, but the Goddess does not recognize the so-called tri-God selection, you can only be the Moonlight Knight."
"On my side, the Goddess’s reply was that the Sun Knight also doesn’t entail any tri-God selection.," Cote nodded and said.
"Understandable, a knight is a private soldier, a personal belonging. There’s no sense in sharing personal items, even if they’ve already been shared, it can’t be openly acknowledged."
Wayne nodded in agreement, indicating he understood, then asked, "What else? Surely you’ve tattled to the Goddess, right?"
Wayne had received a clear answer about the tri-God selection from Dreyne, who had once reported the strange incidents on the Icebound Continent to the Moonlight Goddess.
Confronted with a thief who appropriated Divine Power without the owner’s consent, the Moonlight Goddess pleasantly acknowledged his identity.
She did not directly welcome him but chose to hold her forces.
Dreyne said as much, and Mula and Leo also reported truthfully. Nature, Sun, and Moonlight—all three Goddesses handled it with the same approach, opting to wait and see.
As for the Dark Goddess, there was no secret from Anastasia, causing the Dark Goddess to receive accurate information about the five-God selection and personally getting involved in recruitment.
Anastasia couldn’t withstand the mental Corruption of the froth, in addition to Wayne’s impure thoughts towards the Moonlight, the Dark Goddess’s instigation was indispensable.
Round it all up, and the Dark Goddess should bear all responsibility. Anastasia was the victim, and so was he, Wayne.
While the Dark Goddess was sending out Holy Maidens and Knights, she was also drawing enmity, forcibly creating conflict with the "Devourer" Soskuna. Wayne couldn’t yet see the deep intent behind this operation, only knowing the motherly figures had no good intentions.
Today, by using the two Holy Maidens, he tested the intentions of the Sun and Moonlight Goddesses, to get a feel for the situation and avoid being caught off guard.
If he could figure out the depth, walking among the Goddesses and serving as a slave of the five households would be ideal.
If not, he would feign compliance, and wait for thirty years by the Themes River to do what a true man should do.
A true man is born between heaven and earth; how can he languish beneath others for too long!
Wayne looked at the two Holy Maidens with a smile, awaiting the good news. By observing their expressions, Guinevere sneered continuously, and Cote’s gaze was evasive, which gave Wayne a good idea of the situation.
How marvelous!
He could juggle among Darkness, Sun, and Moonlight.
With a cold smile, Guinevere said: "The Goddess, upon learning of your disgraceful behavior, is extremely displeased. Although you are a knight, you must not belittle the Holy Maiden. I am the incarnation of the Goddess in the Mortal World; my purity is self-evident!"
"Is that all?"
"The Goddess also said that regarding the knight’s previous offense towards me, I was at fault initially, and both sides are responsible. We should both take a step back for peace’s sake, but if it happens again, it will be your fault," Guinevere proclaimed emphatically.
"The same here, the Goddess said the same!" echoed Cote.
So, Your Excellency is also of the "me too" camp, my apologies.
Wayne glared at Cote, who, lacking confidence, averted her gaze after being stared at for a moment.
Perhaps afraid of giving away any hints, she added a snort for good measure.
Wayne had an idea about the answer and with an evil grin leisurely said: "Your Holinesses, I have received the Divine Decree. Just one question, what are the consequences for falsely proclaiming a Divine Decree?"
