Chapter 1167: Chapter 403: Paris, The Black Principle Cult_3
Wayne simply couldn’t do it.
Wayne climbed out of the sewer, and Mona approached with a small suitcase in hand: "Boss, you said there would be a great battle, but it seems the Death Knight stood us up."
"Correction, it’s the Headless Knight."
"Okay, the Headless Knight."
"That type of person wouldn’t stand us up willingly. If he didn’t show, it’s definitely because he couldn’t..."
Wayne fixed his gaze toward the city center. Like Lundan, it lacked skyscrapers. With his Super Vision, just finding a high vantage point would allow him to take in the entire cityscape with ease.
"Boss, should we go find him?"
Mona frowned slightly. The Headless Knight not showing up on time likely meant he was bound by the Devil, or perhaps it had something to do with the Hell Gate. It had to be dealt with quickly.
"No rush. The situation there is too complicated. If we barge in recklessly, both of us might end up in Hell."
Wayne shook his head, then continued: "The Papal State has already deployed a Reincarnated Angel. Judging by the time, they should have arrived by now. Let them take the lead, and we’ll cover the rear."
Wayne wasn’t too averse to the idea of going to Hell. He’d heard the underworld wind was simple and honest, and it had yet to welcome a true ruler. In his plans, becoming a god of Hell was one of the possibilities.
If it came to igniting the Divine Fire, he only had a vague understanding, guessing it had something to do with the Seven Deadly Sins.
The Seven Demon Lords stood above all other Demon Kings, also known as Demon Gods, controlling the Seven Deadly Sins and influencing all of Hell.
The other Devils, the forces they used, couldn’t avoid the Seven Deadly Sins—it was just a matter of how much knowledge they possessed.
The Devils were very ambitious, each wanting to be the big boss, but because they couldn’t bypass the Seven Deadly Sins, they had no way of dealing with the Demon Kings.
Wayne speculated that the God of Hell was a unity of The Seven Demon Kings. By mastering all Seven Deadly Sins and becoming the epitome of sin, one would become the true Hell Demon God.
Going one-on-one with the Heavenly Father might be tough, but pinning the Goddesses to the ground and having his way should still be feasible.
Wayne decided to stick to the plan. Not meeting the Headless Knight right away was actually a good thing for him. Speaking fluent Frankish, he hailed a taxi and headed straight for the best hotel in town.
That night, Wayne ordered a candlelit dinner, inviting Mona to enjoy a local Frank Cuisine meal together.
"To be honest, it’s not authentic enough. It doesn’t compare to the real deal in Lundan."
In the taxi, Wayne complained to Mona sitting beside him. It was not only unappetizing but also overpriced. The morality of the locals represented by the Pure White Banner was decaying, and as a staunch Union Jack, he couldn’t stand it.
Mona leaned on Wayne’s shoulder. What they ate didn’t matter; what was important was the person who dined with her. She really liked the night’s private world for two, feeling happy and sweet.
"Young man, you’re from out of town, aren’t you?"
The taxi driver said: "If you want to taste the best Frankish food, you should go to Lundan. You look like a good person, keep this secret to yourself."
"Not bad for an international metropolis, the driver speaks such standard Frankish. What do you do for a living?"
"Hahaha———"
The taxi driver laughed heartily, enjoying the joke Wayne told, then shared a few local Windsor jokes: "If you go to Lundan with your wife for a honeymoon, just be careful, the men there don’t play by the rules and they like handsome young men like you."
Like to listen, tell me more!x2
Wayne and Mona both nodded in agreement, finding the taxi driver quite pleasant, especially his discerning eye.
"Hold on, stop here, pull over."
"Eh, you’re not going back to the hotel?"
The taxi driver looked out at the pitch-black cathedral and kindly warned: "Holy Mother Cathedral has had frequent fires lately, and at night it’s haunted. It’s been closed off, I don’t recommend you going there now."
"No, I saw an old friend, I’ll just get out and say hello."
————
The reputation of Paris’s Holy Mother Cathedral is well known throughout the God-chosen Continent, but where the term Holy Mother came from remains unclear to this day.
It’s usually explained as the birth mother of the Heavenly Father or the mother of a Reincarnated Angel, as for the Saint Heir...
Looking at the bare Crucifix, it’s obvious that gap hasn’t been filled yet.
"Boss, there’s a Barrier."
Mona looked at the dark cathedral in front and whispered: "It’s probably the Clergy from the local Holy See investigating the Holy Mother Cathedral’s fire incident. Are you planning to contact them?"
"Not the Holy See’s people, it’s the Naturalism Church."
Wayne waved his hand and touched the Barrier, nodding: "Stay here and don’t move. I’ll go say hi to an old friend and come back."
"Old friend?"
Because it was Wayne, Mona immediately asked: "Pardon my bluntness, but it’s a female friend, isn’t it?"
"How did you know?"
"Well, you tend to forget your male friends right after meeting them, you wouldn’t specifically get out just to greet them." Mona said with a hint of jealousy.
He was just having a candlelit dinner with her, and now he’s off to reminisce with an ’old friend’. Pfft, such a two-timing jerk, playing fair with everyone.
"Uh..."
Wayne was embarrassed. Important people are often forgetful, and there wasn’t much he could do about it, but he vowed to work on this flaw in the future.
Seeing that Mona wasn’t happy, Wayne hugged his secretary and gave her a peck, saying with a smile: "Don’t worry, this friend is Kel’s type. My friendship with her is pure. In terms of beauty, she can’t hold a candle to you; indeed a heavyweight common friend."
"Are you sure?"
"I swear."
"..."
Mona stepped aside to see for herself if this old friend was as Wayne described.
...
At Holy Mother Cathedral, Bell Tower.
Moonlight penetrated the Barrier, showering the ancient stones with silvery light.
The Bell Tower soared into the clouds, its spire pointing straight to the heavens, like a straight arrow piercing through the clouds, aiming for Heaven.
