Chapter 1034: Chapter 370: Truly worthy of being the Divine Oracle High Priest, you are too strong

Accompanied by a sinister, thin cackle, the distorted dark shadows spread across the ground like writhing tentacles, or perhaps like burning demonic flames.

At the end of the shadows, a demon with black wings hovered in midair, its limbs slender like pale withered wood, its face covered by a half-mask redolent of Hell.

"Sorry to disappoint you, High Priest Weiwen, but I am not here on behalf of Pope Ludwig," Wayne said, having used an incomplete Philosopher’s Stone to complete the transformation, perfectly impersonating a demon.

He often used this form to scare Hexuno, the Archangel—surely you wouldn’t want to, whatever it was. Practice makes perfect. Acting like a demon became second nature to him.

This incomplete Philosopher’s Stone, a favorite vest of the Reincarnated Angel Archibald, came from the Papal State. Angels, being righteous characters, shouldn’t be involved in deceit; it went against their shining image. In contrast, the demon had no qualms about being used as a scapegoat.

After changing hands, the incomplete Philosopher’s Stone came into Wayne’s possession and he too enjoyed using it for dirty work.

Manufactured by the Papal State and officially endorsed by the Archangels, its quality was guaranteed. Weiwen couldn’t tell that Wayne was just acting—he truly thought he’d come across a ghost in the middle of the night.

His heart sank as an ominous premonition crept in upon deeper thought; someone was targeting him with a designed scheme.

"Whom do you serve, Ludwig, Beck, Makarai, or Saina?" Weiwen demanded sharply, listing the names of the suspects.

"Saina!" Wayne said without hesitation.

"I see. It must be either Beck or Makarai, or perhaps they’re both involved."

Weiwen seethed inside. They’d agreed to vie for the papacy using fair means, but resorting to these despicable sneak attacks... Since they’d crossed the line first, he wouldn’t feel any remorse retaliating in kind.

The headquarters of the Naturalism Church was located in Austria, Prussia’s backyard. As the Divine Oracle High Priest, Weiwen had recently been closely involved with the Prussian upper echelons, providing significant technical assistance and gaining some insight into their research projects.

Seeing Wayne’s Devil Form, Weiwen guessed that the Prussian upper echelons were also complicit in the attack on him. He spoke gravely, "We’re in a critical phase of our collaboration. What benefit do you gain by turning on me now?"

"Indeed, a High Priest cannot be easily deceived."

Wayne chuckled sinisterly, then, based on the intelligence gathered that night, he assigned himself a role: "I’m carrying out the orders of the Party Guard Corps’ Inspection Division. The upper ranks find your project’s cost-effectiveness too low. On the other hand, collaborating with other High Priests is considered more strategically valuable."

"And what else?"

"They’re strangled by a technological bottleneck and specifically want your neck wrung. High Priest Weiwen, for the Führer, for the great Prussia, I regret the inconvenience."

Weiwen fumed with laughter—surely they had gone mad to ambush him right at the Church headquarters’ doorstep?

"You are the nave one. They’ve already been notified. Your disappearance won’t cause any ripples."

"Damn it, Ludwig is in on it too!"

Weiwen’s rage reached a pinnacle. He lifted his hand and plunged it into a black fissure; re-emerging with five rings adorning his fingers.

Earthy yellow, fiery red, deep blue, and verdant green represented earth, fire, water, and wind, respectively, while the murky white ring on his thumb signified The Void.

Without any discernible gesture from Weiwen, the space around him instantly solidified, a Barrier-like prohibition unfurled around him, forming a cubic space a kilometer in edge and sealing it off entirely from the outside.

He planned to capture the demon alive and bring it before Pope Ludwig for a confrontation at the Church headquarters.

The Barrier’s twelve edges streamed with froth, gushing forth large swaths of the Star Beast’s flesh—a highly contaminant froth fell like raindrops from the sky.

Wayne, Odilia, and Regina stood beneath the rain curtain, white droplets falling on them and slipping off like mercury, as if it were just ordinary rainwater, devoid of the corruption typically associated with the blood and flesh of the Star Beast.

Weiwen felt a chill in his heart; the enemy had come prepared, suggesting his intelligence had been leaked by Church insiders, who had strategically planned for this moment.

"Jee, Jee, Jee, Jee————"

Wayne raised his hands, the cold rain hitting his face erratically, as he opened his mouth wide to swallow the white droplets: "Tasty rain, it seems that Mr. High Priest is quite desperate to die."

As these words fell, Odilia and Regina completed their Hell Transformation.

Both Succubi grew backward-curving horns from their foreheads, unfurled black wings from their lower backs, and their slender tails entwined like serpents around their tightly-strung legs.

Their beauty was unparalleled, their pupils square-shaped, and they were clad in tight black attire that accentuated their perfect demonic figures against their fair skin, which emitted a soft glow.

Upon their first transformation into Succubi, Odilia and Regina couldn’t control their new strength well and were led astray by hellish energy due to their rigid stereotypes of Succubi, interpreting their charm as mere street allure.

With Wayne’s guidance, they came to understand that Succubi ≠ service workers, and that a superficial charm would only attract pity rather than genuine interest.

Succubi lacking wide appeal had no market.

Now, they could control their own energy and had shed their vulgar air for an aura that was both fresh and coolly stunning, raising their power of enchantment to new heights, and bringing a passive psychic attack to every battle.
