Chapter 1024: Chapter 367: He looks ordinary, nothing special - Part 3
"I know, the reason is complicated and can’t be explained in a few words, so I won’t bother," Odilia turned her head, her thoughts incredibly complex. She had agreed to just be a secretary, but seeing Wayne and Saina being intimate still irked her quite a bit.
Had the setting been right, she definitely would have transformed into a succubus to compete with Saina to see who was more charming.
"Oh, haven’t you sorted this little girl out yet?"
Saina pursed her lower lip, her gaze on Wayne hot with desire. She didn’t care who was beside Wayne; she followed her own desires, doing whatever she felt like.
Wayne knew he shouldn’t start a fight, but still felt the air of a battlefield, unable to suppress a flicker of excitement.
"Let’s go, this is not the place to talk."
Wayne gestured with his hand, leading the two beauties, big and small, out of the library’s second floor.
Regina hurried to catch up, saying, "Nelson, let’s call it a day. I’ll ask you out for tea again when we get the chance."
Watching his sister scurry after the scumbag Wayne, Nelson felt a pang of heartache. With a grit of his teeth and a stomp of his foot, he hurried after them.
————
The black sedan left the city area, traveling along the banks of the Cyno River until it stopped in front of a manor.
In the living room, just as Wayne sat down, Saina pressed up against him, nuzzling ear to ear, exuding an air straight out of the animal kingdom.
Shameless woman!
Nelson was seething with rage. Wayne had been driving, with Saina in the passenger seat, and she had started making her moves on the driver as soon as she got in the car. If it hadn’t been for the driver’s intervention, Saina would have had a bad time.
Absurd, she’s ruining my sister!
Nelson grabbed Regina, intent on leaving; this was no place to stay for long. There was no need to go back to Lundan; it would only lead to disaster.
Regina resisted, as if rooted to the spot; Nelson couldn’t pull her away and was left scratching his head in frustration, cursing the smog of Lundan once again.
"Stop it, calm down for a moment. I came to Austria to see you for official business," Wayne, if anything, was entirely befuddled by Saina’s overtures, urging her to cool down, also hoping to clear his head.
"I’m ready to get down to business too!" Saina blinked, suggesting if she wasn’t taken care of in a few days, nothing else would be attended to.
Wayne, helpless, used telepathic transmission, promising increased quantity without an increase in price, which finally got Saina to obediently sit on the sofa.
He glanced at Nelson, who was glaring daggers, his eyes screaming murder, and waved for Regina to take him to the back yard.
There were things Nelson wasn’t allowed to hear.
Nelson refused, clinging to the sofa and unwilling to leave. Wayne chuckled and advised, "I’ll give you one more chance, leave now while you still can."
"My sister Regina is here; I’m not going anywhere."
"Alright, just don’t regret it later."
Wayne smiled meaningfully, looking forward to Nelson’s reaction afterward, and turned to say, "Saina, I heard in Lundan that the Naturalism Church and Prussia have embarked on a series of collaborations. The Church is prepared to fully support Prussia’s expansion in order to augment its own strength?"
"There is such a tendency, but the cooperation is currently limited to within Prussia and has not yet started in the occupied territories," Saina nodded.
"Whose idea was it?"
"Beck, Weiwen, Makarai."
"Who are these?"
"Three Divine Oracle High Priests of the same rank as me."
"Not the Pope or you?"
"The Pope has allowed their actions, and I have no reason to stop them," Saina stated truthfully.
Wayne had thought the deep cooperation between the Naturalism Church and Prussia was orchestrated by Pope Ludwig or Saina, but that wasn’t the case. Ludwig indeed had deep ties with the Prussian authorities and had cooperated several times in the past. With the new head of state, Hiddel, now in power, Ludwig had been behind the scenes, giving a push and lending support.
Ludwig was an Austrian native, like Hiddel a Prussian of Austrian descent, with ancestors solidly belonging to the Black Flag of Prussia, helping a fellow countryman with speech funds, and providing some barrels of beer during speeches, all of which were reasonable and appropriate.
Times have changed, Ludwig knew he was departing and too cautious of his reputation to accept the deeper cooperation requested by the Prussian authorities, repeatedly declining meetings and subtly indicating his imminent resignation.
The Prussian authorities then sought out several Divine Oracle High Priests, and unable to discern who would take the lead, bet on all of them.
The number of Divine Oracle High Priests in the Naturalism Church varies each term, with up to five at most; this term there were four, including Saina and the others: Beck, Weiwen, Makarai.
Saina, having been tainted by Wayne, had her desire for power wane, while her pursuit of Wayne grew more intense, and her interest in becoming Pope diminished.
She knew what Wayne liked and disliked. Facing liaisons from Prussia, hmm, with a chuckle, she brushed them off with quick succession recently.
Thwarted by Saina, Prussian officials approached the other three Divine Oracle High Priests. After negotiations, they went from guests to delighted hosts, affirming the potential for deep collaboration.
Ludwig did not intervene, adopting a posture of indifference to the potential floodwaters after his departure.
Frankly, from his standpoint, there was no reason to intervene.
If the three Divine Oracle High Priests succeeded, it meant Ludwig had laid a solid foundation. The credit was half his;
If the Divine Oracle High Priests failed, it displayed Ludwig’s wisdom and valiance, capable of leading a bunch of incompetents to elevate The Church and boost his status in the underworld.
It was a no-lose situation for him, and he was happy to see it succeed.
Saina’s thoughts were simple: finding no reason to stop, she chose to wait and see.
Windsor had immense confidence in Frank’s impregnable defense line; Austria’s Naturalism Church had immense confidence in Prussia’s steel torrents. Both believed it to be a sure-win deal.
