Chapter 1021: Chapter 366 Divine Fire_4
Aside from the unsavory rumors about climbing the ranks through favor, there was nothing improper.
To turn around the public’s perception, one had to achieve something significant upon taking office, such as using the war to expand the influence of the Naturalism Church.
Prussia, in its heyday, was the best choice.
"Crazy woman, it couldn’t actually be you, could it..."
Wayne felt it necessary to make a trip to the Naturalism Church Headquarters—the international situation was in shambles, and people around the world were suffering. If the Naturalism Church’s involvement drew in other churches, piling a religious war on top of a global conflict, the consequences would be unimaginable.
With that thought, Wayne firmed his decision.
He had recently hit a bottleneck and was in dire need of an opportunity—stepping out might bring him a gift from nature.
Then there was Pope Ludwig. Having been unable to do anything last time, he resolved that this time he would take the pope’s life, no matter what.
Dream of enjoying an easy life in the Divine Nation in your next life!

"You’re going to the Naturalism Church Headquarters?"
In the study at Lando Manor, Austin looked at Wayne in surprise: "I mentioned it during the meeting, but you actually took it seriously?"
"Maintaining world peace is our inescapable responsibility."
"If you wanted to maintain world peace, you should just stay at home and not go anywhere," Austin retorted.
"That’s not possible; it would attract devils to Lundan."
"..."
Austin couldn’t argue with such sound reasoning.
Wayne shared his speculation that the Naturalism Church wouldn’t support Prussia for no reason—almost certainly it was the upper echelons wanting to expand the Church’s influence, and it was very likely to be Saina.
The woman was unhinged; left unchecked, there’s no telling what she might do.
Wayne still remembered Slyphy’s description of Saina as a pro-war figure. The Inverted World also proved this—if there was no one above to hold her back, Saina would definitely dare to start another faith war.
After much thought, Wayne concluded that no one but he could hold Saina back.
"I feel uneasy with you suddenly being so earnest."
"Having seen too many tragedies in the Inverted World, I don’t want the Outer World to turn out the same."

Life is hard; father and son sighed.
Austin agreed to Wayne’s journey. With him holding down the fort in Lundan, no major mayhem would ensue. He asked Wayne whom he planned to take with him.
"I’m going to the Naturalism Church Headquarters to purge the court, not for a vacation. I won’t bring anyone."
Wayne pondered for a moment; a few Resentful Spirits would suffice. He would leave Mona/Hexuno in Lundan in case a devil suddenly popped out of the bushes.
Lundan might be harboring one or more powerful devils, and the possibility of Hell Gate opening there could not be dismissed. With just the Dark Knight, devils couldn’t be fended off—an Archangel must stay behind.
Realizing this, Wayne slapped his forehead. Another Hell Gate location was in Farak Paris—the century-old friendship wasn’t just lip service. It’s easy to share blessings, but troubles were never missed.
Mentioning Paris reminded Wayne of the Headless Knight, and he wondered how the poor fellow was holding up, how much of his self had remained, how far the devil’s scheming in Frank had progressed, and how far the Holy See’s devil eradication plan had gotten.
Wayne decided to contact the Holy See to inquire about their plan against the devils. If he could advance to Legendary Mage during this mission and had the time, he would consider joining the siege on the Underworld Great Tomb.
Best to rid himself of the worry that was the Headless Knight as soon as possible. In this season of troubles, adding new problems was not an option.
...
"What, you’re going to the Naturalism Church Headquarters?"
High Priest Manor, living room, Dreyne’s voice came from behind the stack of betting chips; she flipped the table and pointed at herself, "If you leave, what am I supposed to do?"
"That’s your line, huh? Sounds about right when they say it," Wayne pointed at Dreyne’s card-playing friends.
"I’m speaking for them, it’s all the same."
"It’s not the same!"
"How much do you despise me, kid?"
Dreyne pouted. True, she had no intention of inheriting the Moonlight Church’s freebie traditions, but that wasn’t a reason for Wayne to be uninterested in her.
Everyone’s out here hustling, and she, a proud Moonlight Knight, has her pride, doesn’t she!
That thought crossed Dreyne’s mind, but she let it go and mused, "Also, I should be leaving in a couple of days to head back to the Icebound Continent to switch shifts with Leo. It’s about time he got a break, and to carry out the Divine Decree of the Sun Goddess."
One of the Divine Decrees of the Sun Goddess: to go to the Inverted World and gather negative information.
Let’s just say it’s a long-term mission. Apart from the Dark Knights who were still leveling up and the Death Knights who had been offline for a long time, the remaining three God-chosen Knights had to undertake it regularly.
The Goddess has plans for this negative information, and it’s quite possible she’s found the correct way to harness it.
With that, Dreyne glanced at Viley. Despite their different genders, they both had a thing for Wayne, roughly on the same page. When she meets Leo, she’ll pass this on, and suggest he visits Lando to see if there’s any chance for Viley, the understudy, to take the lead.
If so, all the better. It would cut off any hope Leo had left, and save her from his constant rants about snatching Wayne away from her.
A smirk formed on Dreyne’s lips; this was a sure bet.
"By the way, Dreyne, could you pass a message to Mr. Mula? If he can avoid using Elemental Mantra for the time being, please do so. I have important use for it," Wayne charged Dreyne with relaying a message.
"You’ve got the White Night Purity Words already!"
Dreyne sneered. She couldn’t control the heir’s messy private life – let it be. But she wouldn’t stand for the White Night Purity Words to be mistreated by following Wayne.
"Dreyne, you’ve got it all wrong. I’m practicing with the Elemental Mantra for the sake of White Night Purity Words," Wayne sighed, misunderstood again.
"That’s impossible, one’s a bow, the other a sword, they don’t even look alike!"
————
The scene shifts to Wayne’s secretary, who’s stuck dealing with his schedule.
The schedule is too long, every time he heads out it takes days of preparation.
Same old routine, with Mona bearing eighty percent of the brunt, occasionally passing the baton to Hexuno, infuriating the Archangel so much they’d either pretend to be Mona or completely lose it and curse Wayne out.
In the late night, Wayne, ever the peacemaker, with Mona in his arms, said, "Hexuno, I need to take a long trip. Stay in Lando to guard against the Devil’s sneak attacks."
"Boss, I’m Mona!"
"No, Mona wouldn’t argue at this time, she knows what I like."
"..."
Hexuno gritted her teeth in frustration, but then she saw Wayne handing her the Oath Sword.
"This sword’s power is greater in your and Mona’s hands. No matter how much you despise me, I truly appreciate your uncompromising stance against the Devil."
Wayne stated seriously, "On this trip, I’ll also be in touch with the Holy See to check on the situation with Paris and whether the Reincarnated Angels are awake and ready to encircle the Devil."
Hearing this, Hexuno cooled down, approving of Wayne’s attitude towards the Devil, the one shining point in him that pleased her greatly.
She pondered for a moment, accepted the Oath Sword, took a few deep breaths and leaned down to kiss Wayne.
After a clash of lips and tongues, Hexuno pulled away with an expressionless face, detachedly saying, "Don’t misunderstand, to prevent other Reincarnated Angels from sensing anything, I’ve branded the Stigmata on you. To the outside world, you can claim to be Archangel Hexuno. This is your proof."
Wayne:
"Damn it, what’s that expression for!"
