Chapter 1004: Chapter 362: Pertinent, Objective, and to the Point_3
At this point, he paused before continuing, "He became paranoid, insane, hell-bent on killing Wayne. When I ran into him, he almost took me for Wayne and killed me."
Megan’s heart ached as she listened in. Dragon Blood, haughty by nature, expecting her to compliment Austin on being faithful was out of the question. She glared at him coldly, "Bastard, to even lay a hand on your own family, I misjudged you."
"Is there a possibility that I was avenging you?" Austin’s entire demeanor fell apart. This was far from what he expected; he was supposed to be the hero, after all.
"That’s impossible, you got the wrong person!"
"..."
Austin pulled a long face; that was the rhythm. When Wayne closed the door, something big was about to happen.
"After proving his duplicity, I helped Austin kill Wayne..."
"Who killed him?" Veronica asked.
"Austin. How could I possibly kill Wayne? That would be suicide."
Wayne smiled, "Even if I had the capability, I couldn’t do it. The Austin from the Inverted World had to be the one to act. His hatred for Wayne could only be satiated with blood for blood."
Megan and Veronica glared furiously at Austin, this bastard who killed her son/fiancé.
Austin remained silent. Wayne had already set the stage, and anything Austin said now would make him the bad guy either way.
"Right, he even chopped up Wayne’s body into mincemeat, a wave of darkness rose, and amidst the flying ashes, he cried out with laughter," Wayne narrated impartially.
Fair, objective, penetrating, in line with character psychology and behavior logic, not vilifying for the sake of vilification.
That said, Wayne respects the Austin from the Inverted World and would call him a real man.
Megan and Veronica didn’t see it that way; they hadn’t experienced the despair of the Inverted World. What Wayne narrated was just a story to them. While they felt sorry for the Austin of the Inverted World, it didn’t change their glaring anger.
Especially Megan, who was both happy and glaring as she blinked at her son.
Her fists itched for a reason to let loose on the rascal.
"I saw Queen Sophia in the Inverted World, at Lando Manor..."
"Bastard!"
Wayne’s words were cut off by an explosive sound, shards of glass flying everywhere.
When he looked up again, not to mention Austin, even the couch he sat on was gone.
Megan was also gone, having leaped out the window to wait for Austin to fall from the sky in the little grove.
She was always good at snagging the ball.
Wayne nodded, continuing, "Queen Sophia evolved her Divine Blood amid the apocalypse and formed an alliance with Dark Knight Austin. After being rejected numerous times in marriage proposals, she never received a proper look from Austin."
Megan: (눈‸눈)
She awoke early; she should have waited for Wayne to finish speaking before acting.
Oh well, what was done was done. Let the rascal step back, and she wouldn’t hold it against him.
Today, Megan picked up the ball quickly, feeling as if she had her own plotline, afraid of missing out. She snatched up the ball and returned to the study at top speed.
Wayne continued, "Due to the premature departure of his teacher, Austin was downtrodden every day, unable to step out of the shadow of his wife’s death. Aunt Mei took on the role of Emily cheering him up, and then the two of them..."
"Bastard, you dare!"
Another thunderous roar echoed, and upon looking up again, Wayne saw Megan, expressionless, jumping out the window.
Not sure if it was an illusion, but Megan seemed contemplative as if she had an epiphany.
Aunt Mei, bootlickers never end well!
Wayne sighed, "Then, as always, Austin didn’t see Aunt Mei as his teacher because of her face, he continued to treat her just like the butler and secretary, only seeking solace through her visage in his most painful moments."
Megan: (눈‸눈)
"You doing this on purpose, kid?"
"Teacher, you’re too anxious, I haven’t finished speaking!"
Wayne rolled his eyes; from start to finish, he hadn’t badmouthed Austin at all. He had been portraying his deep love, free from any desire to mock the man launched into the sky. Not in the slightest.
As for why Austin was sent flying twice, he didn’t quite understand. Maybe it was a little game between husband and wife.
High society was too deep for him, he was still a child, couldn’t comprehend.
While Megan had yet to return, Wayne kept talking, "After killing Wayne, Austin lost his will to live and planned to commit suicide out of love. I stopped him. The Lando family still had a family member, Aunt Mei. If he died, Aunt Mei probably wouldn’t survive either."
"What happened next?"
Veronica held her breath in suspense, the story was too heartbreaking; she felt for them but was also curious about how the story unfolded.
Megan feigned indifference while also perking up her ears.
"Not clear, I left afterward. On the outskirts of Lundan City, I encountered an attack by the Naturalist Knight; a fierce battle ensued. The Dark Knight did not appear, and Megan was absent," Wayne lamented with regret.
Open-ended conclusion. In his heart, Austin had died of love, and Megan had committed suicide. How Veronica and Megan perceived the ending, he wouldn’t direct.
Upon hearing this, Megan’s heart ached fiercely, but expecting her to look favorably upon Austin was impossible. Clenching her fists, she walked toward the window, angrily saying, "Selfish bastard, only thinking of himself. Megan saw him as her reason to live, and he just ignored her."
"Sounding so good, as if you’re really considering Megan. Had she not been laughing, I might have believed it."
Watching Megan disappear out the window, Veronica smirked, "I bet, if you change the story, like say Austin didn’t kill himself, lived on for Megan’s sake, her face would surely be angrier than anyone’s!"
