Chapter 56: Lily’s Friend, Lola

6 hours had passed.

Kai was still confused as to what he was supposed to be looking for.

The claw markings made no sense; they were random, without a pattern, without anything that could make it possible for someone to learn the technique.

The good thing about this stage was the fact that after 24 hours, you would just go on to the next one.

You couldn’t get stuck in this place, and you would still be on time for the future.

Still, it was pretty frustrating.

There was nothing to do except look at this massive stone. So, that’s what Kai did.

He looked at it; he even touched some of the markings, thinking that maybe, just maybe, it would help him. But, news flash, it didn’t.

He was still as lost as at the beginning.

Kai hadn’t been exactly confident in figuring out the entire skill that a God had left behind. But to not even have a single clue about it was something he could have never expected.

He released a sigh, walking toward the stone once more.

"There just has to be something about them. There has to be something special about this..."

Kai pressed his hand against the stone, trying to feel something different. But there was nothing.

"Hm... wait, what if? Ah. That actually might be it."

Kai closed his eyes and guided his Monster Energy toward the stone, infusing it with his own Monster Energy.

"Let’s see now..."

The stone suddenly changed color, becoming bright blue; it somewhat resembled the color of the moonlight. The markings also changed colors; they became bright red, with a strong, deep energy coming off of it.

Kai frowned at this energy.

He hadn’t felt it at all before doing this.

However, while this was great, he still had little idea what this might be related to.

At first, he tried to absorb the energy coming off of the markings.

Energy from a God wasn’t something that he could refuse. However, it failed miserably.

The energy seemed etched into the stone. It wasn’t something that could be taken away from it.

Still, looking at the stone from further away made Kai strangely think of a specific creature: werewolves.

Moonlight, the red color that could be related to blood energy.

Somehow, Kai believed that whoever had left this stone behind was related to werewolves.

Now, did that information help him whatsoever? Clearly not. Still, the more things he comprehended, the better it would be, right?

In the outside world, everyone was looking for Notamonster, the legendary figure who had completely disappeared from the face of the world recently.

After the bounty of 1.5 million on his head appeared, everyone had been looking for him. However, no one had ever found him.

There was only one player who could always tell his location but didn’t: his sister, Lily.

’Brother... just where are you?’ she thought to herself as she opened the map.

On the left side of it, it was written in clear text that it was impossible to find him at the moment. His location was said to be untraceable.

’Just where did you end up again?’

Lily was extremely worried about her brother. She knew that he was the most powerful player for the time being. However, he was getting more and more enemies recently, with Veyron Gold now publicly showing hate toward him.

His influence was not something that could go unseen. Guilds that had previously shown interest in Kai were now showing hate and their will to kill him.

Everyone did that to receive the funding of the son of the richest man on Earth.

"Lily, what are you looking at?" a chirping voice muttered a few meters away from her. "We need to clear this dungeon; stop looking at your map."

"Ah... right. I’m sorry!" Lily muttered, running to catch up to the rest of them. "I was just looking to see where my brother was."

"Brother this, brother that. Why don’t you invite him to play with us?" her friend said, annoyed.

Ever since they had started playing together, Lily kept getting extremely worried about her brother, consistently looking at the map, trying to figure out where he was.

’Play with us...’ Lily didn’t answer just yet. ’I don’t think he’ll agree.’

The only way Kai would accept such a thing was if he managed to obtain a humanoid form before then. Still, as far as Lily knew, that wasn’t the case just yet.

"I-I’ll talk to him about it. Though, I don’t know if he’ll agree."

"Hm... is your brother handsome?" her friend suddenly asked with a smirk.

"Tsk, stupid!" Lily slapped her friend’s back. "Don’t you dare try to seduce him!"

Her friend, Lola, was a known charmer at her school. She was also extremely beautiful, making it very easy to make a lot of men fall for her.

Lily was also extremely pretty; however, she was a lot more reserved than Lola, who would never be afraid to talk to guys who came up to her at any given time.

"Hm... I see; your brother must be a cutie. Why don’t you send him a message right now? I want to play with him now."

"Now isn’t a good time. I’ll text him once we leave the game."

"Tsk, why are you so scared? Then, give me his gamertag; I’ll add him and send him a message."

Lily froze for a moment before acting as if everything was normal. "Ah... that. I-I can’t give you that. He wants me to keep it a secret..."

Lola loudly sighed. "Who does your brother even think he is? Notamonster? Come on, just give me his gamertag. I’m sure he would be happy to know that a pretty girl like me is interested in him."

Lily shook her head repeatedly. "No way... I’ll send him a message instead."

Lily began typing her message.

[Brother, would it be possible for you to play with me and one of my friends? She’s curious about what you look like... You don’t have to come if you don’t want to, since it could be dangerous given your identity.]

"Alright. I sent it."

-Ding!

[Notamonster: I’m busy right now, but I’ll see what I can do. Give me three days.]

"Oh, he said that he might be able to play with us in three days."

Lola’s eyes widened. "What the hell is he even doing for it to take three days?!"
