Arvian’s fingers trembled slightly as he read.
"The Soul Extraction..." he muttered.
If this ability was real, he could command the dead. He could build an unstoppable army—not just demons but anyone strong enough to be worth collecting.
And the Demon King Souls?
This was no ordinary mission. 100 Demon Kings... in one year?
A smirk formed on his face.
It sounded impossible.
And yet...
Somewhere deep inside him—there was an excitement he couldn’t deny.
With a long yawn, Arvian lay back, staring at the ceiling.
***
Arvian learned about the world’s history and its power structure from Veyra, as well as the role of the academy.
There were three major kingdoms that ruled the world:
One of the most powerful kingdoms, Nindust is renowned for its highly skilled mages and sophisticated magic. An enemy of Arruss.
A neutral kingdom that preserved harmony between the other two was Velhoria. It was enigmatic, and nobody knew how strong it really was. And Afghan was in it currently.
Another powerful kingdom that is at odds with Nindust all the time is Arruss. It had a special system for training mage skills and fighting.
Nindust and Arruss were bitter enemies, always in cold conflict, though no full-scale war had broken out yet.
Each nation had specialized training academies for mages. The influence of a nation increased with the number of high-rank mages (S-Rank and above).
But there were secrets—facts about their own kingdoms that even the most powerful mages were unaware of.
Arvian also discovered that this world is based on a novel that he had heard about but had not read because of its fandom.
The rulers of each kingdom weren’t the strongest individuals. Instead, they had inherited their thrones from their ancestors, following long-standing traditions rather than earning their positions through power.
However, true authority didn’t lie with the rulers—it was held by the Grand Mages, the most powerful and influential mages of each nation.
Each kingdom had its own Council of Grand Mages, consisting of S-Rank and above mages who truly controlled the nation’s strength, military, and magical advancements.
The rulers were mere figures, while the Grand Mages shaped the world’s fate behind the scenes.
The Academy of Velhoria, named "Azmundis Academy of Arcane Arts," was one of the top academies in the kingdom. It was also a national academy, meaning its graduates played a crucial role in the country’s mage forces.
Admission Process:
Anyone could apply, but they had to pass the Mage Awakening Test to prove they had magic potential.
Most people awakened their magic through this test.
Some, however, were naturally awakened from birth, possessing magic without needing the test.
Magic System & Power Hierarchy:
Most mages could only control a single type of magic, as their mana reserves were limited.
Only S-Rank Mages (or higher) could inherit multiple types of magic, as they had massive mana reserves.
Those with average or weak mana could only use basic or low-level spells.
Students of the academy graduated after three years with their respective ranks and chose different paths:
Some aimed to join the Council of Grand Mages—the highest authority in magic.
Some became professors at the academy, training the next generation.
Others became warriors, mercenaries, or elite mage knights, protecting the nation.
However, regardless of their path, every graduate was trained as a warrior—combat was a core part of their education.
Arvian already knew he had mana, meaning he wouldn’t struggle to pass the admission test. But what truly mattered was how far he could rise in this world...
Arvian sat on a bench in the waiting room of Azmundis Academy Association, his arms crossed as he waited for his turn. The room was filled with other applicants, some nervously whispering among themselves, while others sat quietly, lost in their own thoughts.
Having nothing else to do, Arvian decided to check his system status.

’Argh, still at the lowest rank...’ Arvian thought, feeling a mix of annoyance and anticipation.
Just as he finished going through the system panel, a voice echoed through the room.
"Arvian! Next!"
The examiner had called his name.
He let out a deep breath, closed his system panel, and stood up. It was time.
As Arvian entered the room, he looked around him. The space felt clean and professional because the walls were painted white.
A long, metallic chair that resembled a seat used for a medical examination stood in the middle of the room. There was a big crystal sphere hovering at the chair’s headrest, softly glowing blue.
The examiner, a middle-aged man with spectacles and a white coat, looked at Arvian and adjusted his glasses.
"Please sit in the chair proprly," the examiner instructed in a calm tone.
