Chapter 41: Second World War [04]
Then—well, things were back to normal.
There was silence on the battlefield as the once-blinking light dimmed. It was unnatural, but it was more than just silence.
The entire world had fallen unconscious.
A small number of warriors, no, all of them, lay still on the ground. Dareth, Jaxyn, and all the other fighters had fallen to the ground, even the strongest of them.
But there were still two.
Declan and Malgrath.
In the aftermath, they were the only ones standing, their senses overwhelmed, their bodies tense.
High above, Malgrath’s mind was racing.
"What... just happened?"
Then—he saw it.
A figure.
A gigantic creature, looming like a god in front of him.
Each of its six massive, blood-stained wings pulsed with a horrifying blend of red and black energy. Like a cursed storm raging inside its very being, the energy flowed through it rather than just surrounding it.
It had a long, black sword in its hands.
A cursed blade.
With its edges dripping with an invisible, terrifying power and its surface shifting as if alive, the weapon exuded pure malice.
Then Malgrath’s eyes locked with its.
His throat constricted.
Its eyes, swirling patterns of sheer rage, were unlike anything he had ever seen.
It had two long horns on top of its head, but they were more than just flesh and bone. They twisted and burned like living fire because they were made of energy itself.
Malgrath sensed something deep inside of him for the first time in centuries.
A few minutes earlier...
Deep in a dark, muddy cave, Arvian returned.
The torture realm had finally released him—but what was left of him wasn’t human.
His body was ruined.
He was nothing more than skin and bone.
His ribs pushed against his flesh, his arms like sticks, his face unrecognizable. His eyes were hollow, his scalp bald, his teeth completely gone.
He was a corpse that refused to die.
Then—a voice.
A voice that came not from around him—but from within.
Double-layered. Echoing.
"I have chosen you to be my King..."
"How could I let you die?"
And then—it began.
A surge of black and red energy exploded from his body.
It wrapped around him.
It burned into him.
It became him.
Arvian’s frail form was no more.
His bones vanished, replaced by raw energy. His body grew taller. His arms lengthened, his fingers sharpened.
And then—he felt it.
Power. It roared through his veins. His mind was lost, his vision blurred, his form shifting—expanding. His six wings burst from his back. His horns ripped from his skull, twisting like a demon’s crown.
And then—his mouth opened. A power unlike any other began to swell within him.
The air trembled. The ground cracked. And then—he roared.
A monstrous, earth-shattering roar. The energy inside him erupted.
A massive wave of destruction burst from his mouth, tearing through the cave. The walls shattered.
The sky split apart.
And a blinding white light engulfed the world.
From a direction, he sensed a lot of power and headed...
***
And now he was up against Malgrath.
Energy crackled in the air between them.
Malgrath sensed the overwhelming force of the person in front of him.
His throat constricted. His gut cried out to him.
But he did not back down.
Rather, he muttered to himself—"Nyxian Form."
His body started to change instantly.
From his back, crimson crystal wings erupted, their jagged edges glimmering with a lethal radiance. Smoky energy dripped from his darkened eyes, twisting around him like living shadows.
Then—a translucent beast arose from his body. It was massive.
A tall monster with clawed hands and glowing eyes, its shape changing like a liquid shadow. Malgrath was inside its head, fully visible, fully in control.
Zaryx then—moved. He let out a roar.
And immediately—he was gone.
With overwhelming power struggles, desperation, and a stunning conclusion, this fight scene between Zaryx and Malgrath is dramatic and cinematic.
The sky cracked apart.
The two figures standing in the air were a monstrous creature of black and red energy, pulsing like a barely contained storm, and a crystallized crimson god.
Malgrath’s glowing eyes narrowed inside his tall, translucent beast.
Zaryx had vanished.
A shockwave went through the air as a sudden force struck his shield from behind.
Another blow, then another, quicker than his brain could process.
Malgrath could hardly defend before his monster’s head was grabbed by a huge clawed hand and flung to the ground.
BOOM!
He crashed into the battlefield, shattering it beneath him.
With a roar, Malgrath soared back into the sky, his wings tearing through the earth.
Zaryx, however, had already begun to wait.
Malgrath’s chest was struck by a devastating black-red blast as soon as he looked up.
It was more than just energy. It was utter destruction.
The explosion occurred.
The very fabric of reality shook as Malgrath’s form exploded with energy.
Silence.
Then, though, there was laughter.
A deep, chilling laugh.
Upon clearing the smoke, Malgrath remained upright.
But there was a change.
His body contorted. His red wings glowed more intensely.
The form of his translucent beast solidified into something more chaotic and monstrous.
His strength was changing.
"I see now..." Malgrath smiled, madness flashing in his eyes.
"You’re forcing me to surpass my limits!"
Then—his vitality burst forth.
Their power was no longer contained on the battlefield. Below, the earth started to break apart and float.
The sky was ripped with lightning. What was happening seemed to shake the world itself.
Then they clashed. Fist against fist.
The sky was broken by shockwave after shockwave, leaving black spaces where space itself was being ripped apart. Power drove Malgrath insane.
Zaryx was persistent.Zaryx, however, stopped holding back.
His aura grew to encompass the battlefield, his six wings flared, and his eyes transformed into whirling galaxies of devastation.
Then the world became dark. Malgrath was immobile.
Not a single inch. The air itself was pressing down on him like a cosmic force.
Zaryx lifted his hand. A massive black-red sword, forged from pure destruction, materialized.
Malgrath’s body shook uncontrollably. For the first time he felt fear. Zaryx then swung down.
SLASH!
Malgrath’s form shattered.
His body was ripped apart, as was his translucent beast.
He carved a canyon into the ground and crashed back down to the battlefield.
Then—Zaryx made a gentle landing.
However, something changed.
His enormous body glowed.
The terrible energy started to calm down.
His face—changed.
A human face emerged in place of Zaryx’s hideous face.
Arvian.
His consciousness had returned.
His human mind had taken over, but his monstrous body was still there.
Then a glowing screen appeared in front of him before he had had time to comprehend what had happened.
