Chapter 562: Chapter 559 Deciphering the Divine Script
"Master of the Tower."
"Katrina."
A quarter of an hour passed, and Katrina brought Ronald into the Decryption Department within Barrier Mountain. The guard at the door bent down to salute upon seeing them.
"It’s okay, don’t be so tense."
"I’m just taking the newbie to get some materials."
Katrina waved her hand nonchalantly and then led Ronald into the Decryption Department.
Upon passing through the doorway, the two came across a rotunda-shaped building that was wider at the top and tapered toward the bottom, spanning three levels in total. Besides a few people on the bottom floor sitting at tables, flipping through books, the upper two floors were filled with shelves storing various documents and materials.
Katrina was very familiar with the layout of this place.
Without disturbing any of the wizards at work, she led Ronald straight to the second floor.
"Drake, show me your tome. If you’re uncomfortable, just recite a few spells."
"I’ll get you the corresponding divine script materials now."
Ronald’s ability to sense emotions was still in effect. NovelFire
He didn’t hesitate much and handed over a tome.
"This is it."
Katrina took the tome, flipped through it briefly to confirm the system of the text, then handed it back to Ronald without any hesitation.
As Ronald took back the tome, Katrina smiled and said,
"Not bad, I like generous men." NovelFire
"..."
"Katrina? What are you doing in our Decryption Department? I remember your tome has already been fully deciphered!"
Just then someone rushed out of a side door on the ground floor.
They reached the ladder beneath Ronald and Katrina and shouted:
"We don’t have any disputes with your Astronomy Department, don’t stir up trouble!"
This shout interrupted the work of many on the first floor.
When the wizards of the Decryption Department looked up at the sound and saw Katrina, most of them showed expressions of fear or apprehension.
The head of the Astronomy Department, Katrina.
Her reputation in Barrier Mountain was probably not very good.
"This guy is Kenneth, the head of the Decryption Department, a stubborn old-timer who’s lived from before the sealing era." Meanwhile, Katrina quietly introduced the man who had just spoken to Ronald, and then flicked her hair as she looked down at the old wizard, Kenneth.
"Calm down, I’m here on proper business."
"See the man beside me?"
"He’s Drake, the new wizard who’s joined our Astronomy Department, just here to look for some divine script decryption materials."
Kenneth’s face held a hint of skepticism.
"Is that so... huh?"
Suddenly, the old wizard couldn’t finish his words.
His gaze shifted to Ronald’s face, the man beside Katrina, and he was stunned on the spot.
Kenneth was certain he’d never met the man before him.
But looking at that young, handsome face, he felt there was something not quite right, even a sense of chillness behind him.
"This... this one..."
"..."
Noticing Kenneth’s reaction, Ronald immediately realized he might be in trouble. According to Katrina’s brief introduction, this Kenneth was a seasoned wizard who had lived since the sealing era.
If by chance he had seen the ancestors of the Adler family...
Then Ronald reckoned it was time to think of playing a desperate game of escape.
No good!
He had to interrupt the other’s train of thought now!
Under no circumstances could he let this fellow recall anything!
Having resolved this, Ronald forced a kind expression onto his face and immediately introduced himself to the old Wizard below:
"Mr. Kenneth, you can just call me Drake."
"I’m here looking for the divine script data to decipher the originals; do you have any suggestions?"
"..."
"Ah, very well, Mr. Drake."
Likely due to his age, compounded by years of study, the white-haired old Wizard couldn’t immediately dredge anything up from the depths of his memory. Interrupted by Ronald, he could only respond out of politeness:
"Mr. Drake, you can look for the divine script data you need upstairs, but remember, you may only borrow copies, and you must return them here afterward."
"I understand."
After the brief admonishment, Kenneth’s expression subtly shifted as he turned and retreated to his previous room.
By detecting emotions through the power of "Fury,"
Ronald was certain that the other had given up pondering over his face.
For now, he could breathe a sigh of relief...
With that thought, Ronald turned around and got quite a shock.
Because he had been wholly focused on monitoring Kenneth, he hadn’t spared any attention for his surroundings.
In the time it took to exchange those few words, Katrina, unbeknownst to him, had quietly approached him and was now observing him with great interest.
Against the backdrop of her fiery red hair,
Katrina’s already aggressive demeanor appeared even more intriguing.
"What are you hiding, you... any more secrets?"
However, Katrina’s subsequent reaction was somewhat unexpected.
She pointed out that Ronald had secrets, yet she didn’t pursue the matter further.
She led the way to a row of bookshelves.
Then, she spoke in an even tone:
"Don’t worry too much, Drake; who doesn’t have a secret or two in this world?"
"Now that you’ve joined us, we’re partners."
"As long as you don’t do anything to betray us, you’re free to do whatever you wish."
Ronald didn’t directly respond to Katrina.
He now firmly believed that this head of the astronomical department was not only a powerful Wizard, but her insight into the human heart was exceptionally keen, besides her strong and aggressive nature.
In front of such a person—speaking more meant increasing the chances of exposure.
Ronald’s silence did not elicit any reaction from Katrina.
The head of the astronomical department simply searched through the bookshelf with surprising proficiency and in less than half a minute pulled out a copy of a document and handed it to Ronald.
"Take a look, this should be what you’re seeking."
When Ronald took it and saw familiar Earth characters written on the pages, with simple grammar and pronunciation notes indicated, he could spot some misinterpretations, none of which were significant errors.
Barrier Mountain’s translation of Earth’s languages
had clearly reached a level comfortable for reading.
"..."
"Remember, don’t share it with anyone else." As Ronald carefully examined the pages in his hands, Katrina reminded him from the side, "Although the academy prioritizes knowledge sharing, giving knowledge to ordinary people without any cost, they won’t appreciate its value."
After these instructions, Katrina no longer stayed with Ronald.
She went downstairs on her own and was about to leave the Deciphering Department when she turned and waved over her shoulder in Ronald’s direction:
"Tomorrow afternoon, remember to come to the astronomical tower."
"You belong to me now!"
