Chapter 557: Chapter 554: The Lookout Tower
"Sinovia, are you nominating a foreign wizard as the introducer?"
"..."
Ronald and his two companions were still underground at that moment.
Led by Sinovia, they had successfully arrived at the location of Barrier Mountain after more than an hour.
Continuing the style of the previous underground structures.
A large part of the lower constructions of Barrier Mountain was also located inside the mountain, including the department where Ronald had to register his spell.
Now, Sinovia was talking to the person in charge of the "Foreign Wizard Reception Office," simultaneously introducing Ronald and the false identities Bapulor brought out.
Faced with the real staff of Barrier Mountain, the young wizard seemed to know his way around well, speaking in a tone that was neither humble nor arrogant.
"This is Drake, and this is Tarrenno."
"Both of these wizards are from outside Barrier Mountain and have come to register today."
The employee at the reception office was equally adept.
He didn’t even turn his gaze towards Ronald and Bapulor, but continued to negotiate with Sinovia,
"Sinovia, make sure you understand this."
"Recommending a wizard on your own without going through your mentor can cause quite a bit of trouble."
The young female wizard looked very confident,
"Don’t worry, Dolt."
"If I could bring them here, naturally, there’s no problem."
"..."
It wasn’t until then that the employee at the reception office turned his attention to Ronald and Bapulor. Seeing Sinovia’s brimming confidence, he seemed to think of something and whispered,
"Sinovia, could they have..."
"Exactly!" The female wizard didn’t let the man in front of her finish his sentence. She came directly to the reception desk, leaned on it with both hands, and forcefully said, word by word, "Now get on with the paperwork, you know I’m in a hurry!"
"..."
"I’ll treat you to dinner some other time."
The reception office employee paused for a moment, then still immediately drew out parchment from the cabinet and began to write the record.
The subsequent developments went smoothly.
Sinovia probably had seen someone do similar work before.
Holding the completed documents, she led Ronald and Bapulor through the complex underground structure. After passing through three different offices, her initially enthusiastic mood finally slowed down slightly.
Walking on the ascent to the upper levels,
The young girl cheerfully introduced to Ronald and his companion,
"Now, we can go to the watchtower to test."
"All the paperwork I had to handle has just been taken care of; as long as the verification of your spell goes smoothly, we can await the completion of the procedures above with peace of mind."
Ronald inquired,
"How long does this kind of procedure usually take?"
"A maximum of two days," Sinovia replied without hesitation, "The efficiency of Barrier Mountain’s offices is still very high. Plus, you’ve submitted a Flying Spell, which will definitely receive focused attention once it’s noticed above."
Amidst the conversation, the three of them climbed the spiral staircase and arrived at an open platform.
From here there were three directions one could choose.
To the left—was a passage continuing deeper into the mountain.
To the right—was a brightly lit, independent room.
And directly in front of them, they could smell the cold mountain wind blowing in from the snowy mountain, and the night unveiled itself between the columns of the porch.
Across the several meters wide gate opposite them, was the exterior of Barrier Mountain.
"This is the place,"
Sinovia had moved ahead completely and called out to Ronald and Bapulor behind her.
Following the young witch out of the mountain,
everything before them suddenly opened up.
This was a platform carved out on the north side of the peak, and like the open gateways Ronald and his companions had passed through, there were quite a few of them, leading to this lookout platform.
What was most eye-catching, however, were the three tall towers standing against the mountain on the platform.
The towers, arranged in a ’品’ shape and of a grayish-blue color, stood tall. At the top of these towers, nearly a hundred meters high, were observation platforms clearly meant for watching the distance.
At the same time, a powerful Magic Fluctuation enveloped the entire tower.
The mysterious force not only provided structural support for the towers but also assisted wizards in casting spells, striking at enemies who dared to approach.
As owners of powerful tomes, Ronald and Bapulor were naturally drawn to the three towers immediately. Noticing this, Sinovia timely reminded them:
"That is the Magic Tower of the Prophetic Spell department."
"After you join the academy and if you opt to take Prophetic Spells, then you will be able to enter and study there."
After briefly introducing the towers, Sinovia continued to walk towards the outer edge of the platform:
"But for now, we should focus on verifying the spell over there."
Following Sinovia, Ronald and the other continued toward the edge of the platform carved into Barrier Mountain.
They almost reached the edge of the platform.
A two-story cottage built on the edge of the cliff came into view.
Sinovia knocked on the door, and an elderly man with white hair and beard came out quickly. He looked at Ronald and the two others, then finally smiled at Sinovia, who held several pieces of Parchment in her hand:
"Little one, are you still bringing people for testing this late at night?"
This time, the elder Wizard did not know Sinovia.
Though they were not familiar, and he was disturbed at night, the old man’s attitude remained kind and pleasant.
In the presence of the elder Wizard, Sinovia bowed deeply with respect:
"My lord, this gentleman behind me is Mr. Drake."
"He comes from beyond Barrier Mountain, bearing a brand-new Flying Spell he wishes to offer to the academy."
"..."
The amiable elder Wizard had a glint of sharpness flash across his eyes.
"A Flying Spell... No wonder there’s such a rush..." he murmured to himself. He then approached Ronald with a swiftness that belied his age. Some unknown enchantment was activated by the elder Wizard before he addressed Ronald: free\we,bnovel.c o(m)
"Sir, may I ask..."
Ronald, with a calm demeanor, replied in an unwavering tone:
"As Sinovia mentioned, I intend to hand over the incantation for a Flying Spell. The spell came about rather coincidentally, so I don’t have the original tome with me, that’s about it."
The elder Wizard did not respond to Ronald immediately.
His piercing gaze scrutinized the young man before him, eventually settling on the Catherine’s Sword wrapped in black cloth behind Ronald.
"Sir, are you skilled in combat?"
Ronald answered frankly:
"I’m not a professional, but I do have some understanding."
"..."
After hearing this, the elder Wizard fell into thought again.
After a good half a minute had passed, he finally politely invited Ronald:
"You may now cast the Flying Spell."
"However, as part of my duty, I hope to stay close and observe while the spell is active, if that’s alright with you?"
