Chapter 494: The Dark Sovereign

Chapter 494: The Dark Sovereign

Ignarok’s devouring ability might’ve made him a powerhouse in terms of magical attacks, but it came with a serious drawback—none of that power could be channeled into his physical body in the short term. Which meant his physical defense? Practically nonexistent.

Ethan and Cicero didn’t give the bastard a second to breathe.

They tackled him to the ground and just started wailing on him—fists, boots, elbows, whatever they had.

Sure, it was a little brutal.

But damn if it wasn’t effective.

Ignarok had already wiped out all his own minions, so there was no backup coming. He had no choice but to take the beating head-on.

BAM!

CRACK—CRACK—CRACK...

The sound of bones snapping echoed through the air. Ignarok’s body was getting torn apart, piece by piece. At one point, Ethan even ripped off one of his arms with sheer brute force.

Auremax and his crew stood off to the side, dumbfounded, watching the whole thing unfold. They’d never seen a fight like this before—no spells, no flashy moves, just raw, unfiltered violence.

"What the hell are you standing around for? Get over here!" Ethan shouted.

That snapped Auremax out of it. Right—this wasn’t a magic duel. No fancy skills needed. Just fists.

He didn’t hesitate. With a roar, he charged in with his squad, copying Ethan and Cicero’s style—just swinging and stomping like madmen.

The Gold Dragon warriors went completely feral. They opened their jaws wide and started tearing into Ignarok’s body, ripping off chunks of flesh with every bite. In no time, they were shredding him apart, piece by bloody piece.

"AAARGH!"

Ignarok’s screams were gut-wrenching.

And then—just like that—he was torn to shreds.

His remains were scattered across the ground, a mess of blood and gore.

But the bastard just wouldn’t die.

Even with nothing left but a head, he was still trying to absorb energy from the surroundings. Some of his severed limbs even started twitching, like they were trying to crawl back together.

Ethan caught on fast. He grabbed a weapon from Auremax and drove it straight into Ignarok’s skull. Then his eyes locked onto a pulsing, blood-red heart lying nearby.

"Crush that heart! Now!"

No one hesitated. They all rushed over and stomped it into pulp, grinding it into the dirt until it was nothing but mush.

Only then did Ignarok’s life force finally vanish.

DING!

"Congratulations, player Valkarion. You have slain Ignarok and unlocked a physical attack skill. This is a monumental victory."

Ethan finally let out a breath of relief. But before he could even relax, a series of system notifications started pinging in his head.

All the Gold Dragon warriors around him leveled up. Even Ethan himself gained some experience—though not quite enough to hit the next level.

Then the ground trembled.

Ethan’s instincts kicked in immediately. Back when they were fighting Ignarok, he’d sensed something—some strange, external force trying to break through.

Now it felt like that force was about to arrive.

But Ethan wasn’t afraid. Not even a little.

Cicero had completed his evolution. His power had skyrocketed—several times stronger than before. He hadn’t been able to show it off properly during the fight with Ignarok, but that didn’t mean he was weak.

If whoever was coming relied on magic attacks, Cicero might actually have the upper hand.

Everyone could feel it now—that oppressive force bearing down from above.

The air shimmered, space itself warping and rippling like water. Something was trying to break through.

Then, a pale, almost porcelain-white arm reached out from the distortion.

WHOOSH!

BOOM—BOOM—BOOM—BOOM—BOOM...

A terrifying wave of energy exploded outward.

The sheer force of it tore at the fabric of space, ripping through the battlefield like a storm.

SPLURT!

One of the Gold Dragon warriors closest to the rift suddenly staggered. A deep gash had opened across his neck—no warning, no sign of an attack. He collapsed instantly, lifeless.

Zzzzzzzzzzz...

BOOM—BOOM—BOOM—BOOM—BOOM!

In an instant, the air twisted violently.

A terrifying force rippled outward, warping the very fabric of space. Cracks spiderwebbed through the air like shattered glass, and then—

She appeared.

Floating midair, a woman with an almost scandalously revealing outfit, her presence as dangerous as it was mesmerizing. A mask covered half her face, but even that glimpse was enough to radiate an overwhelming, seductive allure.

Even Ethan found himself momentarily stunned, his eyes locked on her. A part of him itched to rip that mask off, just to see what kind of face could possibly match that kind of presence.

BOOM!

Before he could get lost in that thought, the woman slowly raised her hand.

A crushing pressure exploded outward from all directions, slamming into the battlefield like a tidal wave. The entire area froze—space itself locked down tight.

Ethan’s pupils dilated. He instinctively tried to step back, but the moment he lifted his foot, it felt like he’d stepped into quicksand. His body refused to move.

"You insects really have some nerve," the woman said, her voice smooth and venomous. "Slaughtering my servant like that... You’ll pay for it with your lives."

Ethan could feel the raw power radiating off her in waves. He quickly pulled up his interface, trying to scan her stats—but nothing came up.

Just a single title: The Dark Sovereign.

Shit.

So this was the real boss. Ignarok had just been a warm-up, a disposable pawn. And judging by the lackluster rewards they’d gotten from killing him, it looked like she’d absorbed all his power and experience the moment he died.

Suddenly, Cicero let out a roar.

His entire body surged with energy, a blinding aura erupting around him. It condensed into a massive sphere of power that launched straight at The Dark Sovereign.

It was a new ability—something Cicero must’ve unlocked after his evolution.

And somehow, it cut right through the spatial lockdown, slamming toward her like a meteor.

The Dark Sovereign blinked, clearly caught off guard. She hadn’t expected that kind of power from him.

She raised her hand and gave a subtle twist of her wrist. A shimmering violet barrier materialized in front of her, absorbing the energy sphere with ease.

"Tch. I thought you might be worth something," she sneered. "But you’re just another pathetic little worm. That was your best shot, wasn’t it? Pathetic. Now—die."

With a flick of her hand, the energy sphere Cicero had launched turned violet—corrupted—and she hurled it back at him with devastating force.

Ethan’s heart dropped.

He couldn’t move. Couldn’t even lift a finger to help. His body was still locked in place by the spatial pressure.

And Cicero—he was wide open.

Just as panic started to set in, the air around them shimmered again.

Another ripple tore through the space, and a figure appeared out of nowhere. The moment she arrived, her presence shattered the spatial lockdown like glass under a hammer.

The pressure vanished.

Ethan stumbled back a few steps, finally able to move again. Relief flooded his face as he looked up at the newcomer.

"Seraphina! You made it!"

Seraphina gave a sheepish smile.

She was supposed to have arrived with Cicero, but something had gone wrong during the dimensional jump. She’d been thrown off course and ended up somewhere else entirely.

Still, she was here now—and something about her felt different. Stronger. The energy radiating from her had changed. Maybe Cicero’s evolution had affected her too, somehow.

Up in the sky, The Dark Sovereign’s expression twisted with fury.

She hadn’t expected some random girl to break her spatial seal so effortlessly.

Four dark orbs suddenly appeared in her hands, each one pulsing with a nightmarish energy. The moment they materialized, the surrounding space began to warp and twist violently.

"Oh? Another little bug?" she hissed. "Perfect. You can all die together. Consider it a funeral for Ignarok."

And with that—

The four orbs dropped like meteors.
