Chapter 491: Intruder

"Heh... I gotta say, I didn’t expect this so-called Emerald Castle to be crawling with so many Gold Dragons. Gotta admit, that’s a decent show of strength. And..."

Ignarok’s dark crimson eyes swept slowly across the entire battlefield, taking in every detail with a predator’s calm. Finally, his gaze locked onto the front line of the Gold Dragons.

Right there, Auremax stood tall, his face grim, eyes cold and sharp as blades, locked onto Ignarok with deadly focus.

"...And you—" Ignarok grinned, his voice laced with mockery, "—a Gold Dragon this powerful? It’s been ages since I’ve seen one like you. Last time must’ve been in AvLee... that pretty little place, remember? Hahahaha!"

"State your name, intruder!" Auremax barked, his voice like thunder. "This is not a place you can just waltz into!"

But Ignarok didn’t flinch. He didn’t even blink. His presence was overwhelming, his arrogance suffocating.

Auremax could feel it—this wasn’t just some reckless demon. This was a real threat. He was already preparing to give the order to strike, to wipe that smug grin off the bastard’s face.

Ignarok clicked his tongue mockingly. "Tsk, tsk... Aren’t you the one always preaching about honor and etiquette? And here you are, ready to throw down after just a few words. How rude! But hey, no big deal. Since you’re so curious, I’ll do you the favor of introducing myself."

A wicked, booming laugh erupted from him, shaking the skies. The air itself seemed to tear apart as waves of demonic energy surged outward, howling like tortured spirits. His infernal armor groaned under the pressure, shrieking with every pulse of power.

"I am Ignarok Fathrim, Baron of Inferno! A true Infernal Demon King! Now do you understand who you’re dealing with, you pathetic worms? Hahahaha! HAHAHAHAHA!"

"Baron?!" Auremax’s expression darkened, his eyes narrowing with a deeper, more serious edge.

In the world of Glory Lords X, "Baron" might sound like a lowly title—but not in Inferno.

In Inferno, titles like Baron, Count, or Duke weren’t granted by any higher authority. No, demons gave themselves those titles. It was all about ego, image, and intimidation. The title itself meant nothing.

What mattered was the power behind it.

And this guy... he wasn’t just some self-important demon with a fancy name.

He was a King-tier Infernal Demon.

A true monster.

The weight of that realization hit Auremax like a mountain. This wasn’t just a fight—it was a war.

But even so, he had a duty. A sacred responsibility.

To protect Emerald Castle.

To drive out the invader.

To crush him.

"You’ve been warned, intruder," Auremax said coldly, stepping forward into a battle stance. His golden scales shimmered with power, his wings flaring wide. "This is Emerald Castle territory. You are not welcome here."

Ignarok chuckled, slow and mocking. "Oh? That’s some fire you’ve got there. I like it." He tilted his head, eyes gleaming with amusement. "But whether I’m welcome or not... that’s not up to a lizard like you to decide. Got it?"

"If you want me gone, it’s simple—make me leave. Fight me. Defeat me. That’s how this works, right? Hahahaha! HAHAHAHAHA!"

His laughter grew louder, more twisted, echoing across the battlefield like a storm of madness.

His face was a mask of scorn and contempt.

Because he wasn’t just any demon.

He was an Infernal Demon King.

And not just any King—he was stronger than even Baelthar, the so-called Infernal Demon King.

He was a Crimson Ultimate.

A being of apocalyptic power.

So what if Auremax was a Tier 14 Mythic Ace Unit?

It didn’t matter.

Not to him.

Not at this level.

So why wouldn’t he laugh?

Why wouldn’t he revel in it?

"Hahahaha! HAHAHAHAHAHA!"

As Ignarok’s wild, unrestrained laughter echoed through the skies, Auremax’s eyes slowly turned cold—ice cold.

But beneath that chill, there was something else.

Resolve.

Maybe... maybe he really wasn’t a match for the Infernal Demon King Ignarok.

But that didn’t mean he’d just stand there and do nothing.

Who was he?

He was Auremax, descendant of the ancient dragonblood of Aurelia—the homeland of dragons!

A Tier 14 Mythic Unit. A Gold Dragon.

And that meant something.

The very next moment, without hesitation, Auremax struck.

SWOOSH!

BOOOOOOMMMMM—!

In an instant, a terrifying surge of power exploded from his body. Magic energy flared like a solar storm, condensing into a blinding beam of light that shot straight toward Ignarok.

At the same time, Auremax launched himself forward, wings slicing through the air, claws glowing with searing magical energy. He dove in, talons slashing down with devastating force, aiming to tear Ignarok apart.

The sheer momentum was overwhelming.

WHOOSH!

CRACKLE—CRASH!

The magical blast ripped through the sky, tearing open a violent storm in its wake. Everything in its path was obliterated. The air itself seemed to rupture, leaving behind a jagged rift in space, like reality had been corroded by raw power.

Light burst across the battlefield, so intense it forced everyone to shield their eyes.

But then—

From within that blinding storm of magic, a massive, hellish scythe came crashing down.

SLASH!

It cleaved through the sky like a blade through silk, slicing the beam of light clean in half.

And it didn’t stop there.

The scythe surged forward, slamming into Auremax’s descending claws with a thunderous clash. The impact sent shockwaves rippling through the air.

Ignarok hadn’t moved an inch.

He stood there, completely unfazed, his massive scythe held effortlessly in one hand.

And he was smiling.

That cold, amused smile.

"Well now," Ignarok said, voice low and mocking, "your power’s impressive. Almost brushing up against Crimson Ultimate territory. That’s rare. Almost hard to believe..."

He tilted his head slightly, eyes narrowing with interest.

"And now that I look closer... I see traces of those old relics from Aurelia in you. So you’re one of theirs, huh? A Gold Dragon from the Aurelia bloodline?"

He let out a cruel laugh.

"They really let a promising one like you just wander off into the world? What were they thinking? Idiots. Their brains must’ve been scrambled by their own arrogance. Hahahaha! HAHAHAHAHA!"

Auremax said nothing.

He just stared, locked onto Ignarok with unwavering focus.

But inside, he was reeling.

This was the power of an Infernal Demon King.

His full-force attack had been brushed aside like a breeze.

The gap between an Ace Unit and a Hero Unit... it was wider than he’d ever imagined.

He couldn’t win. Not like this.

Not alone.

Ignarok’s eyes gleamed with a dark thrill. "What’s wrong? Cat got your tongue? No witty comeback? No righteous fury?"

He raised his scythe slightly, the blade humming with infernal energy.

"Well then... since you were kind enough to strike first, I suppose it’s only polite I return the favor."

The moment the words left his mouth, Auremax’s pupils shrank.

His entire body tensed.

Because he felt it.

Ignarok was moving.
