Chapter 406: Chapter 405: Rights of the Primordial God

Indeed, at the moment when the green light burst forth, even Shi Yin didn’t understand what he had experienced.

In fact, that tidal wave of information didn’t leave much in his mind, or rather, the sudden influx of massive information had triggered the brain’s protective mechanism, which manifested as unconsciousness followed by awakening to a rather blurred memory of that moment.

But only two words remained clear.

Thank you.

"I merely conveyed the message from fifteen years later as it was." Chaoyang stepped forward, reaching out toward the conical object under everyone’s watchful eyes. Before he could touch it, the cone suddenly turned into a beam of green light, shot into the palm of his hand, and then disappeared without a trace.

"Ah!"

The Mist God and her two followers instantly tensed up, closely observing every move Chaoyang made.

But no abnormalities occurred to him.

"Chaoyang?" Ailuodi inquired tentatively.

Only then did Chaoyang come back to his senses, feeling as though he had lived more than a decade in those few short seconds... Indeed, those years were the sentiments conveyed by the Unfathomed. The anger of being trapped, the hatred for the Order of Causality, the determination to mobilize more power to fight, and the longing for freedom. Even though it was only a small part of the Unfathomed entering this world, it still possessed all the abilities of the Primordial Gods.

"It’s fine now. This world will no longer be affected by the Unfathomed, and the danger to the City of Defense has also been completely eliminated," Chaoyang whispered softly, as if reassuring everyone around him, yet also as if speaking to himself.

Everyone remained silent.

He raised his head, smiling belatedly at the worried expressions of the people around him, "Right... Until I explain the origins of these things to you, you all won’t be at ease. The City of Defense being swallowed by the Hidden Mist is actually just the beginning of the story. Over the next fifteen years, the Unfathomed has been contemplating how to escape because the heart used to summon it was implanted with the Order of Causality. The moment the mist is lifted, the mechanism would be activated. I’m not quite sure what the specific effect would be, but it’s likely that the God of Causality would take away part of it."

"Order of Causality?" Everyone exchanged puzzled looks. Even the divinities, who had lived for thousands of years, had never heard of this term before.

"How did you know this?" Shadow asked gravely.

"The Unfathomed told me," replied Chaoyang with a shrug.

This was yet another explosive piece of news!

"The Evil God spoke to you!?"

"It wasn’t communication in the literal sense, more like a kind of guessing game," he made up, as nobody could verify the truth anyway. "Anyway, I believe I can somewhat understand it, and it knew this as well. To get back to the point, over fifteen years, the Unfathomed gradually deconstructed the nature of the Order of Causality, which enabled it to also gain some power of the God of Causality, namely control over time."

This content, even to the ears of the divinities, seemed incredibly bizarre. Yet no one spoke out against Chaoyang, as they all understood that anything incomprehensible could make sense when related to the Primordial Gods.

"In fact, it didn’t only grasp the ability to control time, but it also mastered a part of the effect of the mist. The City of Defense, after being liberated, was subjected to information isolation, precisely because of this relic," continued Chaoyang. "However, at that time, it was still sealed by the Mist God. Considering the sequential order, the Causality Evil God would descend in the Magnificent Castle first, and even if the mist was lifted, another Evil God would await it."

Fortunately, instead of the Order of Causality, what the Unfathomed awaited was Chaoyang and his companions. As the mist was gradually dispelled, the Order of Causality was about to be triggered, and the Unfathomed, before "cause" was satisfied, activated its ability. It not only condensed the information into characters but also reversed time to fifteen years prior—albeit only for a few dozen people. This also explained why it didn’t expand its influence to send more people back in time: There was no time left.

"Fortunately, the ending is a good one. The Unfathomed achieved its goal, and the City of Defense was not consumed by the mist. In the moment of leaving this place, it conveyed its gratitude to me, and this object, I suppose, is its token of thanks."

’Clap clap clap.’

Shi Yin applauded.

"To receive the gratitude of a Primordial God in a mortal body, you are indeed the man I saw potential in."

"It’s as if you think you have the power of choice," Chaoyang rolled his eyes towards the ceiling.

"The Unfathomed has mastered some of Causality’s abilities... that news is a bit too terrifying." Shadow murmured, "The world may have become more dangerous. But what you have done has given me a glimmer of hope... I never thought I could defeat the Evil Gods, oblivion is always a passive response, but if we can reach some sort of agreement with them, humanity might be able to secure a breathing space."

"So what exactly is the gift it left behind?" Kokomoqi couldn’t contain her curiosity.

"Let them witness the authority from the Primordial Gods," Shi Yin said with the most immature tone, yet the most solemn words, as she crossed her arms.

Chaoyang thought for a moment, then stretched out his hand.

"Fire."

As his words fell, a ball of flame suddenly burst out from his palm, illuminating the ground around him!

Once again, everyone felt an indescribable shock!

What kind of ability was this?

Speak and it happens?

"It’s just like... my magic," Kokomoqi exclaimed in admiration.

"This is nothing like your outdated magic!" Shi Yin said loudly, "Go on, Chaoyang!"

Go on your head! Chaoyang sighed, tipping the flame from his hand down to the ground. The moment it touched, the flame began to spread along the ground surface, quickly reaching the area under Ailuodi’s feet. Angel was startled at first, then squatted down to touch the flames, "This... has no temperature."

"Is it an illusion?" Enkui also touched the flame curiously, then withdrew her hand as fast as lightning, "No way! It’s scorching hot!"

Watching these two completely different reactions, everyone was startled. More people followed their example and tried it out, finding that half could stand in the fire without issue, while the other half felt a burning pain as they approached.

"How did you do this?" Shadow asked in surprise.

"I can’t exactly say." For the first time, Chaoyang experienced that feeling of knowing something yet struggling to express it. He hadn’t created real flames but a "cognitive mapping" containing vast amounts of information, including its perceivable temperature, and who it would affect... Just as Shi Yin said, the realm Unfathomed governed was not some word puzzle, but the rules of crafting "mysteries" themselves. Every intelligent life form generates mysteries through communication and perception differences, driving life to constantly evolve and seek truth. It’s often said the unknown brings fear, but now Chaoyang understood that fear was just a subset of mystery. Emotion, language, cognition, imagination—all were within the Unfathomed’s dominion.

Of course... If you don’t want to think about it that complexly, understanding it as an "advanced illusion" that has actual effects on the observer is also not a problem. If such a fire exists, then what about adding a handful of water, a pinch of earth, and a bag of air? These elements intertwined could create a labyrinth that is both real and illusory, stirring countless questions in the life that enters and spawning endless stories in the quest to unravel these secrets.

This process might well be the "Unfathomed".

Of course, even if you discard those complex applications, just the power of creating convincing illusions is very powerful, and it overlaps significantly with the Demon’s abilities. Previously Chaoyang could only create illusions in dreams, but with a portion of the authority of the Primordial Gods in hand, he almost brought the Dream Entering Technique into reality.

The only downside was that this ability greatly consumed wishing power, like the rootless fire he had just created, which had gradually burned through almost ten thousand points of wishing power.

Chaoyang clenched his fist, and the fire extinguished with it.

At the same time, everyone noticed that something had changed in the storage room—the walls were covered with thick frost, and the ceiling above sprouted small stalactites. It was as if when Chaoyang absorbed the gift, an invisible barrier had disappeared, and fifteen years of stalled time suddenly rushed back into this underground relic.

"This place might not be safe, let’s get out of here first," Chaoyang suggested after picking up the pulsating heart.

No one objected, and together they retraced their steps, leaving the place.
