Mystery Paradise: Wishing Power Demon -
Chapter 399 - 398: The Arrival of the Gods
Chapter 399: Chapter 398: The Arrival of the Gods
"Just kill him, right?" Ailuodi raised the Gale Sword, aiming at Franwick.
The angel, now in a state of abundant wishing power, found the two potted plant monsters to be no threat at all.
However, Chaoyang’s attention was drawn to the heart in the other’s hand.
He saw that the nearly all-black heart was covered with red, snake-patterned lines... and the Red Serpent was a symbol of the God of Causality.
"Can you tell what’s wrapped around the Hunting Divine Heart?"
Such a question naturally required an expert’s insight.
Shi Yin glanced at it a few times, "It’s probably some kind of causality mechanism. When the cause is fulfilled, the effect will be triggered. As for what gets triggered, I can’t say without studying it first."
"Causality... mechanism?" Chaoyang was hearing this term for the first time.
"Yes, you can think of it as a rule-based weapon. It harnesses the power of the Order of Causality, and if used well, it can have remarkable effects."
"I see." Chaoyang had figured out the answer to his earlier question, "No, don’t touch Franwick yet."
Franwick paid no mind to their whispering, "A puppet? What a joke! Everything I’ve done has been of my own free will, not under anyone’s control! On the contrary, the prophet has shown me the way. The people of the City of Defense are not worth saving—the company is the executioner, and they are no better!"
The prophet...
Li Qiang Ola was almost certainly the one being referred to.
"Didn’t those people fight alongside you?"
"Then they stood by on the street and watched my family die? I’ve seen the records from the scene—preservation instruments, the gang sent only a few men, yet no one on the street dared to make a sound—not only that, they even watched the arson with the mentality of watching a spectacle, just because the Yuss Family is big and influential!?" Franwick roared, losing all his previous composure, the only constant being the black flame burning in his eyes. "But the prophet told me the secret of the heart... As long as I pray to it, the Hunting Divine will answer me, and no matter what target I wish to find, it will guide me! I will personally find the murderer, then slowly peel off their skin, and roast them over a low flame!"
No... perhaps he had never changed. The flames of vengeance had become his everything since the death of his family members; that was his only goal. What many fishermen hadn’t anticipated, however, was that his revenge included not just the company but also those bystanders who did nothing.
It was all a trap carefully set by Li Qiang.
And the cleverness lay in the fact that most of the inducements were true.
"Hatred arises from the heart... causality unheard..." Ailuodi murmured, "So it’s this..."
"What are you standing around for! The power he obtained is not that of the Hunting Divine, this ritual will only bring about the true descent of the Evil God!" the Envoy of Mist urgently said, "Hurry, help me!"
"Do we still wait?" Ailuodi was getting impatient as well, feeling the heart’s palpitations growing more frantic, each thump as if coming from her own chest.
The might of an Evil God was never straightforward. The truly terrifying aspect was their completely incomprehensible rules.
"That’s right, it’s not yet time—because there’s still one piece missing from the puzzle!"
That was the second line... What is pity for the people of this world?
Was it referring to Paradise? It seemed likely, but Chaoyang faintly felt that wasn’t the case. What he was sure of was that Unfathomed fifteen years later did not know who would be the first to unveil the mist. If it referred to Paradise, then the puzzle lacked universality. In other words, even if he hadn’t come to the City of Defense and another group had been drawn in, the puzzle should still be solvable.
"Ah... it’s coming." Suddenly, Franwick sang out, pressing the heart to his chest. The next moment, the throbbing heart suddenly shot out several blood vessels, deeply penetrating the body of the Yuss family head! Everyone felt a significant darkening around them... Chaoyang glanced sideways with his peripheral vision, surprised to find the light emanating from the glass jars shifting toward Franwick.
"Hey, hey, hey! This is no joke!" Shi Yin yelled uncontrollably, "You don’t really plan to wait until he summons the Unfathomed, do you? Once the Primordial God shows up, this world is doomed, and even I won’t be able to stop it!"
"There’s no time left... This is the only way..."
The girl suddenly displayed a resolute look in her eyes. She released her grip, struggling with the black cloth. The cloth then pierced through her slender body. Blood spurted out as she pulled out the Fog Horn, turned it around, and stabbed the pointed end into her own abdomen!
"Is she trying to commit suicide?" Kokomoqi was shocked, then quickly realized, "No... that’s not it, this familiar feeling is—"
Bursts of white mist poured out of the horn, wrapping around the girl. Within this swirling fog, the girl’s figure grew rapidly, turning into a towering giant over two meters tall in the blink of an eye!
"... Senior?" murmured Kokomoqi.
"Why are you here?" asked the Envoy of Mist, with a voice completely different from the little girl’s—slightly hoarse, vast and boundless, reminiscent of seas changing into mulberry fields, "Never mind. Since you’re here, you should be able to lead these people out of the mist area... Saving as many as you can would be something, I guess."
"What do you mean?"
"The rifts in the world have already been torn open, the Evil God is about to invade this world... Ordinary mist can’t block that kind of power, only I can handle it personally. I’m glad to see you’re still alive, little one, but this will probably be our last meeting. Run now."
To call Kokomoqi ’little one’...
"Could it be..." Ailuodi had already guessed the identity of the being.
A follower had summoned the Mist God who guarded the world, using their own life as a vessel!
"Now is the time!" Chaoyang shouted in his mind, "Attack the Mist God!"
"Huh?" Ailuodi’s advancing foot abruptly stopped, almost tripping, "What did you say!?"
"Trust me! Just attack it with all your might, distracting it for a moment is enough!"
Angel gritted her teeth and charged into the mist! The moment she unfolded her wings, she also activated Speed of Wind, and even the shifts of light seemed to come to a halt. In this suddenly serene space, she slashed at the giant figure in the mist with nine strokes!
The storm, like sharp blades, sliced into the midst of the mist!
Ailuodi’s attacks evidently wounded the divine being.
It raised its hand violently and knocked the Angel flying mid-air, then shouted in shock and anger, "What are you doing!?"
Kokomoqi was dumbfounded too.
In the blink of an eye, the heart had completely penetrated Franwick’s body. His eyes glowed a bright green, and his limbs gathered towards his body, turning him into a human-shaped post.
"Power... I feel infinite power... No one can... Waa... Aah... Vomit!"
His shout was cut off mid-way into indistinct clamor, followed by everyone witnessing a small Obelisk growing from his open mouth, rapidly expanding!
"It’s too late—" The Mist God once again directed the mist towards Franwick, but it was all too late. The tip of the Obelisk sparkled with green light, filling up the entire warehouse in an instant. Under the impact of this light, Chaoyang once again witnessed the same scene he had encountered outside the City of Defense forest: be it mist or Ailuodi, everything seemed to come to a standstill.
’Unfathomed’ had descended.
