Chapter 340: Chapter 339: Sneak Attack!
She was dazed for a moment before realizing that she was the highest-ranking person in this team.
"Don’t you run, stand right where you are!" Elise drew her sword from her waist and bellowed.
Just then, she suddenly felt a sting on her neck, as if bitten by some insect. She turned around and was surprised to see a man from the Envoy Delegation holding a glass syringe, watching her expressionlessly.
"What are you... trying to do..." Her words trailed off as a strong sense of dizziness washed over her mind, and her legs went weak, rendering her completely powerless. She watched herself fall helplessly, as the sound of rapid gunfire reached her ears—at the moment she was pricked, the other members of the Envoy Delegation had already taken up arms and opened fire fiercely on the surrounding soldiers.
The scene instantly descended into chaos. Some tried to fire back, others attempted to retrieve the general’s daughter, and yet many more were already scared out of their wits by the meteorite piercing through the cloud, scattering in all directions at the sound of gunfire. The group of five players hardly struggled to take control of the unconscious Elise.
"What do we do now!?" Zhou Zhi shouted as the meteorite drew nearer to the ground. Even knowing he wouldn’t die, the sight of such a massive fiery object falling from the sky still evoked a deep-seated fear in his soul.
"We can’t outrun it! Find a slope and lie down!" Zhang Zhiyuan and Anthony made the correct call without hesitation.
There was a gentle slope behind the tent.
Although such cover wouldn’t do much, it was the best option they had.
Zhang Zhiyuan swiftly carried Elise behind the tent and dropped her, then lay on top of her, becoming a cushion. Zhou Zhi and Qianyuan Meiko followed suit, lying to his left and right, shielding the woman beneath them thoroughly.
Elsewhere, Ailuodi finished scanning the entire unit and located Ryan.
This was Plan B: if negotiations fell through and the United Army did not halt their advance, then seize the opportunity to take Elise Ben alone. If Ryan Kray happened to be in the mix, he would be the secondary evacuation target. If the two were together, the players would intentionally create chaos to distract the enemy while Angel took Elise to safety; if they were far apart, both the players and Ailuodi would handle one each.
At that moment, everyone in the United Army was captivated by the blazing sky, and the troops slowly came to a stop. For Ailuodi, it was undoubtedly an excellent opportunity. She darted into the marching column with lightning speed, slipped a piece of paper to Ryan, and quickly retreated, vanishing into the woods in an instant. Even Ryan, a Grandmaster Level Warrior, caught only a glimpse of a white shadow flashing past.
The surrounding soldiers panicked, aiming their guns without knowing where to shoot.
A bit dazed, he unfolded the note to find only one sentence: Stay off the roads, danger.
...
Beneath the meteorite, Chaoyang watched it grow larger and larger, feeling the pervasive heat in the air even though it was still miles away.
All he could do now was pour as much wishing power into Shi Yin as possible.
And Shi Yin started to transform.
It enveloped Chaoyang’s hand and plunged into the ground, the red glow spreading through the soil, transforming countless creatures that couldn’t escape in time into puppets of the divinities. Then, black ribbons burst from the earth, intertwining by the hundreds, thousands, tens of thousands, so numerous that they virtually formed a dense defensive web around Chaoyang.
But Shi Yin’s goal was not defense.
Interlacing ribbons converged toward a central point, combining to form a spiral spear! Its size was no less impressive than the meteorite itself, towering a hundred meters tall, resembling the weapons of giants from ancient myths!
Next, Shi Yin lifted Chaoyang’s hand, the body slightly leaning backward, taking the most primal human hunting stance—throwing!
Chaoyang immediately understood the intent, focusing all his attention on his right hand. As the strength of all the muscles in his body gathered to a point, he rotated his body in sync with Shi Yin’s will, swinging his arm forward with the unleashed force of a twisted spring, hurling the spear into the sky!
The massive gun barrel spun as it flew towards the meteorite, appearing both as if it had been thrown and as if countless dark cloth strips underneath were pushing it towards the sky... but regardless of the situation, it seemed unstoppable!
In less than a second, the two collided!
Through his close connection with Shi Yin, Chaoyang seemed to see the motion of those cloth strips, as if they had become limbs extending from his own body! The spear formed by the strips was not merely an oversized weapon. The moment it penetrated the meteorite, the strips split into numerous fingers, continually burrowing into its interior! Despite the high temperatures and the fierce impact causing some of the strips to fracture and burn, even more took their place, filling the void.
Everyone witnessed an incredible scene.
The black spear not only pierced into the meteorite but also significantly slowed its fall! To cushion this kinetic energy, the gun barrel that had initially clung tightly together had now expanded outwards, forming a bulging arc, using exaggerated deformation to counteract the energy from the meteorite’s impact!
Chaoyang couldn’t help but grunt.
Because he keenly sensed that these deformed parts were rapidly heating up, as if he had dipped his fingers into boiling water. Now less than five hundred meters from the ground, the meteorite’s plummeting momentum had drastically reduced; it had to exert great effort to get any closer to the earth. The points where the long gun made contact with the meteorite were already riddled with cracks, and countless black cloth strips continued to surge towards the meteorite, embedding themselves into the rock.
Until the spear tip completely pierced through the meteorite, emerging from its other side.
The meteorite came to a complete stop as well, hanging in the air like a small floating island. This illogical deceleration further damaged its structure. And when the rapidly growing internal stress completely exceeded its limits, the meteorite exploded with a bang!
A shower of debris scattered in all directions; the small pieces were about the size of fists, while the larger ones were comparable to a truck. As they crashed into the forest, they kicked up plumes of smoke and produced dull thuds. For a moment, a series of roars was unending, and the pine forest was smashed into disarray, leaving chaos within a radius of several kilometers.
And after piercing through the meteorite, the black spear tip did not disperse. It simply changed direction and then steadied itself in front of the Magic Goddess. Its sharp point was only a fist’s distance from Kakamotchi’s throat, just one step away from piercing through her throat and tearing apart her head.
The latter remained perfectly still, even her flowing hair hanging limp, having lost its former luster.
"I have won."
Chaoyang said softly.
He knew she could hear him.
’Well done.’
’Of course, I am... a Primordial God.’ Shi Yin’s reply was equally listless. This head-on clash had drained both parties too much, even the "Slime" showed a trace of fatigue.
"That’s right, you’ve won." Surprisingly, Kakamotchi didn’t try to deny it but acknowledged the outcome.
The long gun disintegrated into a sky full of black cloth strips falling down, like a dark rain.
"So, according to the contract—" Chaoyang began, but suddenly discovered that his head had flown up into the air.
"Wait, Engfelt!" Kakamotchi’s cry of alarm came from afar.
In his upside-down view, he saw his severed neck spraying blood, the grey-white world under the cover of The Divine Country crumbling like glass, and shockingly, behind him stood a semi-transparent man—this person held a giant sword, and his eyes were filled with loathing as he stared at him.
"Die, Evil God."
