My Younger Brother Is The Chosen One
Ch. 44 - Annulment?

“That damned Qin Feng, this princess will definitely cut him into pieces!”

Princess Nan Feng started throwing everything around her in anger the moment she returned to the consulate. She had never suffered such indignation from her birth till now, and she had never faced such humiliation.

“I underestimated Qin Feng, I never expected him to be so insane!”

Fang Chang was furious as well, but he tried his best to suppress his emotions.

The main reason that he lost to Qin Feng……

He had assumed that Qin Feng, who was bold enough to even dig out his own younger brother’s Sovereign Bone, was someone that would act recklessly when confronted by Zhu Tou’s provocations.

The best-case scenario would be the deaths of the influential disciples within the Heavenly Youth Scholars. It would be more than enough for them to return afterward to nurture the commoner Heavenly Youth Scholars. Then, they could kill with a borrowed knife by pushing away the blame and inciting the influential families’ resentment towards Qin Feng.

But what he had never expected was that Qin Feng wasn’t reckless when they needed him to be. Instead, at times when he shouldn’t, his recklessness was limitless. He even dared to kill the representative of the Great Xia’s diplomats on the streets in broad daylight, the princess herself. This turn of events was something he could never have predicted.

“What should we do now?!”

After calming herself down, Princess Nan Feng started asking about what they should do next.

Her imperial father had lost sleep ever since Qin Feng had shown off his complete prowess seven years ago. He worried about Qin Feng potentially aiding the Yin Yue Imperial Dynasty in the destruction of the Great Xia Imperial Dynasty when he had matured.

As such, she had departed on this mission to opportunistically kill Qin Feng to whittle down the influential families’ strength, thereby increasing her standing in her father’s heart.

But she knew that Qin Feng rarely left the Moon Goddess Palace, and even if he did, his sisters would protect him, and the Moon Goddess herself would constantly keep him under her surveillance. As such, killing him in the Yin Yue Imperial Dynasty was an insurmountable task.

“No!”

Princess Nan Feng didn’t even think before she rejected this notion.

There was indeed an opportunity to kill Qin Feng rightfully in the Death Elimination Tournament. The Emperor of Six Daos would happily agree to allow the participation of the Heavenly Youth Scholars if it meant that he could whittle away the strength of Great Xia.

But now that she had personally experienced Qin Feng’s strength today, she couldn’t help but tremble from the absolute terror she felt.

Moreover, the participants weren’t just limited to Qin Feng; there were millions of experts, each of them ready to battle to the death.

“We’ll revisit this after the Death Elimination Tournament!”

Fang Chang swiftly changed the topic, “Before we departed for the Yin Yue Imperial Dynasty for our mission, I left a contingency plan for us there, a way to drive apart Heaven Heart City and the Qin family.”

“You’re saying……”

As if thinking of something, a slight smile appeared on Princess Nan Feng’s lips.

Aside from using the Heavenly Youth Scholars to plot against the influential families, Fang Chang had also thought of ways to sow discord among these influential families. After seven years of their meticulous plotting, cracks had begun to show in the relationship between these families.

……

The Qin family.

The little princess of Heaven Heart City, Lin Xin’er led a group of experts to pay her visit, or more accurately, she was here to annul her engagement.

Seven years ago, her father, Lin Hao, had betrothed her to Qin Hao. This decision had hinged upon his possession of the Sovereign Bone, the fact that his father was the head of the Qin family, his mother’s prestigious role as the former saintess of the White Immortal Mountain, and his brother possessing the Qualities of God.

But now, his Sovereign Bone was dug out, his father had lost his position, and his brother was a traitor that escaped to the Yin Yue Imperial Dynasty. Furthermore, his seven years of cultivation yielded unremarkable results.

On the other hand, she was the little princess of Heaven Heart City, and she was also a Heavenly Youth Scholar. How could she willingly marry a trash like Qin Hao?

Guided by Fang Chang’s subliminal brainwashing, she believed that women should have the right to grasp their own happiness, and that they should seek their own love.

As such, she led a group of the imperial family’s experts here to annul the marriage without informing her father.

“An annulment?!”

Qin Hao’s expression darkened instantaneously, almost losing control of himself.

For influential families like theirs, their reputations and honour ranked as the most valuable. In this context, a situation where the girl herself came to annul their engagement was akin to slapping their bare faces.

If news of this were to spread, how would the Qin family survive in their social circles?

Moreover, his son, Qin Hao, wasn’t truly crippled. This ruse was all done in an effort to strengthen the Qin family. They had no choice but to persevere and sacrifice.

“That’s right, an annulment!”

Lin Xin’er wasn’t afraid.

Perhaps she would have been fearful of the Qin family’s strength previously when she only had the Heaven Heart City behind her, but now that she was a Heavenly Youth Scholar with the imperial family behind her, she was no longer afraid.

“Preposterous!”

Qin Tian’s palm slammed the table as he stood up, his powerful aura pouring out from his body.

“No!"

The expression of the imperial family’s experts changed greatly as they hurriedly shielded Lin Xin’er behind them.

But Qin Tian was too strong, and it would be difficult for them to defeat him even if they had worked together.

“What should we do?!”

A hint of panic flashed past Lin Xin’er’s face. She hadn’t expected this to happen.

Suddenly—

A youthful but resolute voice rang out, “Father, I will decide my own marriage!”

The crowd’s gazes turned toward the outside of the hall, and they immediately noticed a sharp-looking, attractive young man. He stood tall and proud, and his muscles visibly bulged on his frame. Showing signs of a humanoid beast, his eyes had an unimaginable resolution shining within them.

He was Qin Hao, and he was 12 years old this year.

In just these seven years, he had grown a lot, and faced with his engagement’s annulment, his calm demeanour persisted.

“Hao’er, why are you here?!”

Qin Tian retracted his aura as a pained expression adorned his face.

Both his sons were destined to endure suffering. His eldest had carried the burden of infamy for his family and left to survive on his own, while his youngest had to endure insurmountable pain to cultivate everyday. And now, he even had to suffer through the humiliation of his engagement’s annulment.

And as their father, he couldn’t do anything to help them.

Qin Hao’s gaze fixed on Lin Xin’er as he spoke calmly, “I remember that my brother once said to me when I was young, ‘Never look down on poor young people, because the future of youth is limitless’. Being crippled now doesn't mean that I will never rise again.”

“Is that so?”

Lin Xin’er was still reeling from the shock she had received earlier, but she tried her best to keep her composure as she responded, “Fine. Then let us have a match in the imperial capital three years later. If you lost, then we will publicly announce the annulment of our engagement!”

“Why go through such lengths for an annulment?”

Qin Hao walked towards a table and wrote a clean letter of divorce.

“You… you dare to divorce me!”

Lin Xin’er’s eyes widened in disbelief. She even suspected that this was all a dream.

Qin Hao, who had lost all of his support and love now, actually dared to divorce her, the little princess of the Heaven Heart City?

Does he not know that his last shred of value lay within his engagement with her?!

“Three years later, we will meet at the imperial capital!"

Qin Hao’s eyes were bright, completely devoid of any fear towards the challenge.

“Hao’er!”

Qin Tian almost cried from the excitement that filled him. He knew that his youngest son’s indomitable heart was forming, and following that would be the regrowth of his Sovereign Bone.

This reminded him of his eldest son, Qin Feng, and he wondered to himself if he had suffered out there all alone.

……

The Moon Goddess Palace.

“Follow the music’s rhythm and dance!”

Qin Feng didn’t feel the slightest pressure before the Gao Kao as he taught his sisters to dance.

At this moment—

One of the sisters brought over a piece of information for him, the news of his younger brother’s annulment.

Pu, Annulment?!”

Qin Feng almost spat out a mouthful of blood. To him, this plot was too fucking familiar.

But, didn’t he already dig out his younger brother’s Sovereign Bone? Why would the engagement-breaking cliché pop up as well? Was he stacking his buffs or what?!

As for the casual phrase he mentioned, whatever about not looking down on poor young people, because the future of youth is limitless, he was clearly saying that they shouldn’t look down on poor people because nothing remained in death……
