My Vampire Beloved Husband
Chapter 73: Silent Promise

Chapter 73: Silent Promise

Zylan stretched out his hands, and Naomi hesitated for a moment before placing hers gently on top of his. The contact sent a wave of warmth rushing through her, making her heart race in a way she couldn’t quite explain. Her gaze was drawn to his hands—strong, elegant, and commanding. For a brief second, she wondered what it would be like to be held by them, to be the center of that power. But it wasn’t just his hands that captivated her; it was everything about him.

His face, framed by the soft light from the room, was striking, his jaw sharp and chiseled. Zylan’s emerald-colored suit clung to his broad shoulders in a way that made Naomi’s breath catch. The fabric seemed to shimmer, catching the light just right, complementing the dark undertones of his presence. Her gown—simple yet elegant—seemed to fade in comparison. But it wasn’t the gown that made her feel like everything was perfectly in sync in that moment; it was him.

His hair, tousled just enough to give off a look of effortless sophistication, was pushed back, revealing the sharpness of his features. His eyes, dark and intense, held a depth that made Naomi feel as though everything around them had melted away. In that moment, the room seemed quieter, the world outside ceased to exist. There was only Zylan, and Naomi, and a connection that neither of them could quite understand but both felt deeply.

A smirk tugged at his lips, breaking the silence. His gaze never left hers as he spoke, his voice low and laced with amusement. "You can admire this husband of yours all you want," he said, his tone teasing. "I’ll wait."

Naomi smiled softly, still flustered by his earlier compliment. She couldn’t stop the heat rising in her cheeks. She had never imagined herself in this situation, standing before him like this, her heart so full of emotion she wasn’t sure how to process it. "Yes, I will," she replied, her voice soft, almost breathless.

Zylan was quiet for a moment, the playful smirk fading into something more contemplative. He wasn’t used to being the one caught off guard, but her response had taken him by surprise. His gaze softened just slightly before his smirk returned, darker this time, with a hint of something more possessive. "That’s my naughty girl," he said, his voice rough, almost a purr.

Naomi opened her mouth to say something, but the words never came. Instead, her breath caught in her throat as Zylan pulled something from the inside of his suit jacket—a small, black velvet box. Naomi’s heart skipped a beat. She stared at the box, her mind spinning, her heart hammering against her chest.

Zylan’s fingers flicked open the box, revealing a ring that gleamed in the low light. It was delicate, simple, yet the design spoke of care and intention—something Naomi had never expected. Her breath faltered as her mind raced. She hadn’t expected this at all. She wasn’t even sure what to feel. Shock? Confusion? But there was something else too, something that warmed her chest in a way she didn’t understand, something that felt as if it was right.

She glanced at him, her mind still whirling. She hadn’t expected him to do this—not now, not when she felt so unsure of everything. She wasn’t wearing a ring, and she realized with a sudden jolt that she had never asked why. Why had Zylan planned this? What did it mean for him? Her heart was overwhelmed with emotions she had no name for. She wanted to ask him why, to voice the swirling questions in her mind, but the words stuck in her throat.

What was she developing for him?

Her silence was all-consuming, yet strangely comforting. It wasn’t that she didn’t like the ring—she loved it. It was beautiful. But it scared her. The feelings she was starting to develop for him, the intimacy of the moment—it all felt so overwhelming.

Then, breaking her train of thought, his voice cut through the haze. "Do you like it?"

Her eyes flicked down to the ring, her mind scrambling to form a coherent thought. Of course, it was beautiful. Everything about the ring screamed perfection, screamed care. Naomi didn’t know how to put it into words. She had never seen anything so simple yet so elegant, the band sleek with intricate designs that made it look like it belonged to a different time.

Naomi blinked, realizing then that she hadn’t noticed before. Zylan was wearing a matching ring on his finger. Was that why he had left? The thought hit her hard, and her mind reeled with the possibilities. She had always thought Zylan’s departure had something to do with his mysterious, almost brooding nature, his penchant for disappearing into the shadows. But now...now she wondered if it had been because of this—because of the ring, and the promise it represented.

She nodded slowly, her voice soft, her thoughts still caught in a haze. "It’s really beautiful."

Zylan’s lips curved into a smile, but his voice softened as he spoke. "Not as beautiful as you."

Naomi’s cheeks flushed deeper, the compliment making her feel small yet cherished. She glanced at him, a playful scolding on her lips, but before she could speak, she heard the soft rumble of Zylan’s laughter. It was rich, warm, and filled the space between them with an undeniable ease.

"Your hand, princess," he murmured, his tone affectionate yet low, sending a shiver down her spine.

Naomi stretched out her hand hesitantly, feeling a nervous flutter in her stomach as she felt Zylan’s fingers slip around hers. He held it gently, as if she was something precious. The slow, deliberate way he slid the ring onto her finger felt surreal, each movement calculated, as if this moment was too important to rush. Naomi’s cheeks flushed harder than usual as she stood frozen, caught between the intensity of the moment and the swirl of emotions inside her.

As soon as the ring settled into place, Naomi felt something inside her stir—a sudden rush of warmth, of connection. Her heart pounded harder, and before she knew what she was doing, she pulled Zylan into a kiss. Her lips met his with a sudden intensity, and in that moment, it felt like nothing else mattered. Time seemed to stop as Zylan responded, his hands sliding possessively around her waist, pulling her closer, deeper into the kiss.

But then, just as quickly as it began, Naomi realized what she had done. Her face burned with embarrassment, and she immediately pulled away, stammering out an apology. "I-I-I didn’t..." Her words faltered as she tried to make sense of her actions.

Before she could finish, Zylan’s hand gently gripped her neck, pulling her back into another kiss. This time, the kiss was deeper, more possessive, as if he couldn’t get enough of her. His lips claimed hers with a force that left her breathless, and Naomi melted into him, her hands instinctively gripping his shoulders.

But then, amidst the passion of the kiss, they both heard a sudden thud. Naomi’s eyes widened in horror, and she quickly pulled away, her face burning with mortification. This was the second time she had found herself in such an embarrassing situation, and to make matters worse, it was none other than Rylan standing in the doorway, an amused look on his face.

Zylan’s expression darkened, his eyes narrowing with an almost dangerous intensity. He didn’t even need to say anything; his glare alone was enough to make the air thick with tension. Naomi didn’t see his reaction—she was too busy trying to recover from the awkwardness—but Rylan did. He quickly straightened himself, clearing his throat. "Mr. Zylan, Mrs. Naomi, the car is ready for you to leave," he said, his tone respectful yet carrying the faintest trace of awkwardness.

Zylan’s voice was curt, his displeasure evident. "You may go." Rylan nodded, bowing his head before quickly leaving the room.

Naomi turned her face away, her hand instinctively moving to cover her flushed cheeks, still mortified by the situation. She had never felt so embarrassed in her life. Zylan chuckled, the sound warm and teasing, cutting through her discomfort. "You don’t have to be shy, princess," he said, his tone light, but Naomi could still hear the underlying affection in his words.

Naomi, still embarrassed, muttered, "It’s fine."

Zylan’s voice softened, his teasing replaced by a hint of something more playful. "Would you like to complete the kiss?"

Naomi’s eyes widened in shock, her mind racing as she quickly pulled away. "No, the car’s here. Let’s go."

A soft, almost mischievous smile tugged at Zylan’s lips, his amusement evident as he teased her. "Alright, wifey," he said, clearly enjoying her flustered state.

The car ride was silent, the tension between them palpable. Naomi’s gaze drifted to her hand, mesmerized by the ring now resting on her finger. It fit perfectly, as if it had been made just for her. As she gazed at it, she began to realize how everything seemed to align so effortlessly—the dress that fit her like it had been made for her, the ring that felt like it belonged on her finger. It was as though everything in her life had led to this moment. Unbeknownst to her, however, it had all been Zylan’s doing.

A smirk tugged at Zylan’s lips as he glanced at her, noticing her fascination with the ring. He saw the soft smile that played on her face, but it vanished the moment Naomi realized he was watching her.

"Eaglet," he called, his voice carrying a teasing edge, though there was something deeper beneath it—something more serious. "You don’t have to be nervous. Just stay by my side."

Naomi turned toward him, sensing the shift in his tone. His words were still playful, but his eyes—dark and intense—held a deeper meaning. There was possessiveness in his gaze, something that made her heart race even faster.

He gently cupped her chin, leaning in closer, his presence overwhelming. "No matter what happens, remember, always stay by my side. Is that clear, Eaglet?"

Naomi nodded, her breath catching in her throat.

The once serious look vanished as quickly as it had appeared, replaced by something more tender, yet still commanding.

"Good girl," he murmured, his voice soft, almost approving.
