My Vampire Beloved Husband
Chapter 71: Tangled Desires

Chapter 71: Tangled Desires

Naomi fell silent, unsure of how Zylan had rendered her speechless. Her mind felt tangled, her emotions a whirlwind she couldn’t untangle. She had been the one to miss him, even if she didn’t want to admit it—especially after the sleepless nights caused by her longing for him. Yet here she sat, quiet, nervous, and unable to find the words. Her heart pounded in her chest, thudding loudly in her ears as the weight of the moment pressed down on her.

She couldn’t quite understand what was happening. She had always prided herself on her ability to speak her mind, to maintain control over her emotions, especially with him. But now, in his presence, it felt as though every thought she had scattered like leaves in the wind. A wave of vulnerability washed over her, causing her cheeks to flush with embarrassment. She wanted to say something—anything—to break the silence, but the words simply wouldn’t come. Instead, she found herself sitting there, lost in his gaze, as though he held all the answers.

Finally, she spoke, her voice barely above a whisper, hesitant and fragile. "Please... stop." Her breath caught in her throat, and she turned her head, almost searching for someone—anyone—to look at her, as if to make sure she wasn’t completely alone. Her words felt inadequate, like they didn’t capture what she was feeling. She needed something more, something that could bridge the gap between them.

Zylan’s voice interrupted her thoughts—calm, yet firm. "You don’t have to worry. No one is here. I sent them all away."

Naomi’s heart fluttered at his words, a strange sense of relief mixed with unease sweeping through her. She had thought the room was empty, but his confirmation seemed to make the silence feel heavier, more intense. She stared at him, her mind racing with questions. Why had he done that? Was it to make her feel safe, or was there another reason?

That thought lingered in the air between them, unspoken, but before she could voice it, Zylan spoke again. His voice was calm, but there was an edge to it, something that made her pulse quicken. "Do you want me to initiate it?"

The words hit her like a cold shock. Naomi sat there, caught off guard, her thoughts swirling in confusion. Her heart skipped a beat. She didn’t know how to respond. What was wrong with him? Why did he keep pushing things forward so suddenly? The very fact that she had thought "husband" inher mind made her cheeks flush with an unexpected shyness. What was happening between them? Was this really her husband? The man who had once been distant, almost cold, and now... now he was close, too close, and she wasn’t sure what to make of it.

She stood immediately but before she could even gather her thoughts, Zylan moved swiftly, almost too quickly for her to react. He reached out, grabbing her hand, his fingers firm and unyielding as they pulled her toward him. Naomi, still in a daze, found herself falling into his lap, her body going limp with the suddenness of it all.

His intense gaze locked onto hers, a mix of playfulness and something far deeper that made her breath catch in her throat. "Such a naughty one," he muttered, a smile playing at the edges of his lips, but it was sharp, predatory.

Naomi wanted to speak, to find some retort, but the words seemed to vanish before they could form. She opened her mouth, but no sound came. Before she could even muster the strength, Zylan had already pulled her closer, his lips crashing against hers, silencing her completely.

Her mind went blank. The room seemed to spin around them, the world fading into a blur as her senses sharpened to the feel of his lips on hers. It was like everything else melted away—the tension, the confusion, the embarrassment. The only thing she could focus on was the warmth of his touch, the way her body seemed to respond to him without her permission. The kiss was deep, urgent, and it left her breathless. She couldn’t help but melt into it, even though a part of her still wanted to resist, wanted to pull away and understand what was happening. But in that moment, all resistance seemed pointless.

But for now, she was trapped in the moment—lost, confused, and completely unable to escape. Her heart raced as she clung to him, the feeling of his lips so overwhelming that she couldn’t think straight. She didn’t know what was happening to her, but one thing she could not deny was that she wanted this—wanted him. Despite the confusion swirling in her mind, there was a part of her that yearned for this connection, this closeness.

Just as Naomi was about to respond, to speak the words that had been trapped in her chest, Zylan gently pulled her away. The sudden shift left her breathless, her heart pounding erratically as she struggled to catch her breath. He drew her into a warm embrace, his chest solid and comforting against her. His face rested on the crook of her neck, her sweet scent filling the air, grounding him. She could feel the heat of his body through his clothes, and it sent a rush of emotions through her—intense, confusing, but undeniably real.

Naomi let him hold her, her body tensing at first, unsure of how to react. But as the minutes passed, the tension in her body started to fade, and she relaxed into his arms. His hands were firm but tender on her waist, sending a flurry of emotions through her. Her heart no longer felt calm—it raced wildly, and she couldn’t stop it. There was something about him, something about the way he held her, that made her feel exposed, vulnerable, and yet somehow safe.

He whispered softly, his voice low and intimate. "This dress suits you."

Naomi’s cheeks flushed, and she spoke quietly, her voice barely audible, "Thanks." The simple compliment seemed to carry so much weight, and for a moment, it made her feel like she was the only one in the world. She hugged him back, a reflexive action, her arms wrapping around him, pulling him closer. But as she did, she felt him freeze in her embrace, his muscles tensing. He hadn’t expected this response. In fact, at first, he had thought she would push him away, like she had done so many times before. But now, her embrace was a surprise, and it left him stunned.

He finally spoke, his voice low, with a touch of awe, "You really surprise me, Eaglet."

Naomi hesitated before asking, her voice filled with uncertainty, "Uh... can I touch your hair?" She remembered the last time she had asked something similar, how it had led to chaos and confusion. She wasn’t sure if she could handle another overwhelming moment like that.

Zylan hummed in response, his eyes closing as if to savor the moment. His soft but assured signal of consent was enough to make Naomi feel a strange sense of calm wash over her. She was afraid to touch him too freely, afraid of the consequences, but there was something about him that made her want to push those fears aside, just for a moment.

Naomi’s hands moved cautiously, almost reverently, as if unsure of herself. She slowly rested her fingers in his hair, her touch tentative at first. A soft gasp escaped her lips as she felt the smoothness of it. It was so effortless, so perfect—it was almost silly how a man could have such hair. Her fingers glided through it, mesmerized by its softness. The texture was unlike anything she had ever felt, and she couldn’t help but be captivated by it. But as her fingers continued their gentle exploration, something unexpected happened. She felt Zylan’s warm breath fan across her neck, sending a shiver down her spine. The sensation was so intimate, so overwhelming, that she froze for a moment.

Before she could even react, a new feeling made her pulse quicken—Zylan’s hot, wet tongue gently latched onto her neck, the warmth of it sending a jolt of desire coursing through her. Naomi’s body tensed, her breath catching in her throat as a soft moan escaped her lips.

"Z... Zylan," she whispered, her voice barely audible, a soft sound that seemed to disappear into the silence around them.

"Your maddening eaglet," Zylan muttered under his breath, frustration lacing his words. Why was his wife like this? Was it some kind of spell she had cast on him? She was driving him to the brink of madness, her presence alone making it difficult for him to maintain control. It was as if everything about her—her touch, her proximity, the way she looked at him—was unraveling him, piece by piece.

"Damn," he cursed softly, his restraint slipping. He couldn’t understand the effect she had on him, but he could no longer deny it. Naomi’s proximity, the way she made him feel—he was losing his grip on his own composure.

Naomi, still in his embrace, lost track of time. How long had they been standing like this? She held him back, her hands gripping his shirt as if she were afraid to let go. But as she did, something broke the moment. The familiar voice of Rylan echoed through the room, cutting through the tension like a knife.

Naomi’s cheeks turned a deep shade of pink, and her body stiffened in response. She didn’t move, her face pressing into the crook of Zylan’s neck, the rush of embarrassment overwhelming her. She wanted to vanish, to sink into the ground and disappear. She couldn’t believe they had been caught in such an intimate moment.

Zylan, too, stiffened as he felt the warmth of her body against his skin. His eyes widened slightly, his senses heightened by her proximity. He became aware of her breath against his neck, the sensation of her lips brushing against his skin.

The sensation was enough to make Zylan tense, a wave of heat coursing through him. His breath hitched, his control slipping....Damn.

Rylan cleared his throat, the sound echoing slightly in the tense silence. "Uh... We have visitors."

Naomi froze, her heart racing in her chest. The spell they had both been under shattered, the fragile moment of intimacy ripped apart by the sudden intrusion. Zylan, still holding her close, remained unnervingly calm, though a flash of disapproval crossed his face.

It dawned on Naomi then—they had visitors. The realization hit her like a cold splash of water.
