My Vampire Beloved Husband
Chapter 151: Madly In Love

Chapter 151: Madly In Love

Weeks had passed, and Naomi still hadn’t called Zylan.

Fear held her back—what if he was busy?

Seated on the sofa, she stared at her phone, her fingers hovering over the call button.

What if he was already asleep? What if he was exhausted from work and had dozed off? What if he was in a meeting?

The endless what-ifs had been tormenting her for days.

But tonight, she wanted to hear his voice.

She had missed him so much—more than she ever thought possible. It felt almost sinful how attached she had become. Another day without speaking to him would leave her restless.

Yet, she hesitated.

Maybe it was better to call in the morning.

But what if he had an important meeting? What if she interrupted him?

Maybe she should just call now.

If he was busy, she could simply ask when he’d be available. Right?

Though she had missed him terribly, Naomi had tried to distract herself over the past few days.

She did different things to keep her mind off him, but she ended up spending more time with the Eaglet than usual—and that brought her unexpected comfort.

She fed it, played with it... in fact, it made her smile.

It made her feel less lonely.

Taking a slow, steady breath, she finally pressed the call button.

Ring one... ring two... ring three...

Just as she was about to end the call, he picked up.

Silence stretched between them for a moment, the only sound coming from their respective backgrounds.

Then she heard his deep voice.

"Hello."

Naomi’s heart skipped a thousand beats in an instant. Her eyes widened, a quiet mix of sadness and happiness flickering in them—sadness because she missed him, and happiness because she could finally hear his voice.

She finally spoke, her voice soft.

"Hello, Hubby."

Another pause.

Then, his voice came again, deep and husky.

"Eaglet."

Butterflies danced in her stomach, and she hummed in response.

Holding the phone tightly, she whispered, "I miss you so much, Hubby. What are you doing now?"

It was already late, and a thought crept into her mind—had she woken him up?

But his voice came through the line, quiet and composed.

Inside a quiet little room, the only sources of light were the glow of the laptop screen and the faint illumination from the phone on the desk.

Rylan stood near the door, waiting for his boss to finish work—only to be surprised when he realized Zylan was on a call.

For weeks, his boss’s face had remained unreadable, his expression locked in cold indifference.

But now, a soft smile played on Zylan’s lips—one that hadn’t appeared in a long time.

The reason? Naomi had finally called.

"I’m still at work," Zylan replied.

Naomi immediately frowned and pulled the phone closer.

"Please, have some rest—at least a little. Don’t overwork yourself. Tomorrow, you can continue. For now, go and sleep... unless you don’t want me to rest tonight."

There was a beat of silence before Zylan sighed and relented.

"Fine. I’ll go and sleep. You too—go to bed."

At that moment, Zylan stood from his seat.

Without hesitation, he shut down his laptop and turned to Rylan, giving him a simple order.

"Prepare the car. I’m leaving."

His wife had spoken—and that was all the reason he needed.

The moment Naomi heard those words through the phone, a soft smile curved on her lips.

Then Zylan’s voice came again, firm yet gentle.

"Get some rest. Good night, my wife."

Naomi’s heart warmed at his words.

She whispered back, "Good night."

A brief silence followed before she heard him say it—

"I love you."

Zylan nodded on his end, and Naomi found herself nodding too, even though he couldn’t see her.

"I love you too."

With that, she ended the call, her lips still curled into a quiet, contented smile.

Humming softly, she turned toward the stairs, her steps light and unhurried.

She didn’t even know what song she was humming—it was just a melody, one that carried the happiness blooming in her chest.

The car moved swiftly through the night, the hum of the engine filling the silence.

Rylan glanced at him before speaking quietly.

"Boss, you said you would finish it. What happened? Did you change your mind?"

A soft smile tugged at Zylan’s lips as he slowly loosened his tie.

His voice was low, almost reflective.

"I miss my wife."

Rylan was silent.

He could hardly believe what he had just heard.

His boss—his boss—was actually saying this?

It had only been three days, yet the way he said it made it sound like months. Or even years.

And to top it off, that wasn’t even the question Rylan had asked.

It seemed his boss was truly, hopelessly in love.

Shaking his head slowly, Rylan let out a quiet sigh.

But then, unexpectedly, his thoughts drifted to Rose.

How was she doing?

She was probably fine... right?

She could cook. And even if she couldn’t, she could always order something.

Besides, he had paid her earlier than usual.

He nodded to himself.

But for some reason—one he couldn’t quite understand—he was surprised... and also did not want to admit that he missed her.

And then, before he knew it, Zylan spoke.

"So tell me, Rylan, how long will I be staying here before I see my wife?"

Rylan remained silent for a moment, thinking carefully before answering.

"I’d say two more weeks."

Zylan let out a rare sigh, running a hand through his hair before responding.

"Make it one week. The rest can wait."

Rylan nodded. "Yes, boss."

Then Rylan added, "But boss, I’d advise you to stay the full two weeks.

That way, when you go back, there won’t be a need to return, and you can spend more uninterrupted time with your wife instead of coming back here again."

He paused, thinking things through before continuing.

"While you’re here, you could video call her every day to stay in touch.

Then, after two weeks, you can return without any further issues."

Zylan considered his words before nodding.

"I’ll still go and spend two more days with her before coming back here. Then we’ll finish things up."

Rylan knew his boss well—once he made a decision, it was final.

So he nodded respectfully.

"No problem, boss."

It was obvious—this boss of his was really, madly in love.
