My Vampire Beloved Husband -
Chapter 130: You Like….
Chapter 130: You Like....
Zylan stood on the veranda of a quiet city, his gaze unfocused as he took a slow drag from his cigarette. The night air was still, with not a sound to break the calm. His thoughts were distant, focused on nothing in particular when his phone vibrated in his pocket, disturbing the peaceful silence. He ignored it.
No one was supposed to call him at this hour. But the phone buzzed again, this time louder, and a sense of unease crept into his chest. It wasn’t normal. Someone was calling at this time for a reason, and that reason could only mean one thing—an emergency.
With a sharp exhale, Zylan flicked the cigarette to the ground and crushed it beneath his boot. He pulled his phone from his pocket, staring at the screen for a moment before answering the call.
It was Rylan. Zylan knew something had gone wrong. He pressed the phone to his ear, his tone sharp with barely contained irritation.
"Rylan, speak. I have no time."
There was a brief pause on the other end of the line, followed by a stuttered response.
"Boss, it’s about your wife... she’s, uh, kind of drunk."
Zylan froze, his grip tightening around the phone. His eyes widened, his pulse quickening. Naomi. He’d entrusted Rylan with the responsibility of keeping Naomi safe, but this... this was something he hadn’t expected.
Without hesitation, Zylan raised his hand to his ear, his voice deadly calm, yet filled with authority.
"Prepare the helicopter. Now."
Meanwhile, Rylan stood on the other side of the line, running a hand through his hair in frustration. There was no denying it—Zylan was going to scold him. He had given Rose just one job: make sure Naomi was safe.
’I didn’t let her stay with Naomi for nothing,’ he thought bitterly, exhaling sharply. He had insisted Rose stay with Naomi so she wouldn’t feel alone, knowing Zylan would be gone. But now, instead of helping Naomi feel safe, Rose had somehow made the situation worse.
With no other choice, Rylan called Rhea. The situation was escalating, and he needed backup.
Rhea arrived swiftly at the mansion, her expression calm but alert.
"This should be the last time Miss Naomi enters a bar—unless Mr. Zylan is present to give the order."
Rhea nodded sharply in agreement, watching as Rylan turned away and walked toward the mansion doors. He stayed put, knowing Zylan wouldn’t be far behind.
Inside, Naomi was already feeling the effects of the alcohol, her thoughts hazy and disjointed. She couldn’t believe what was happening to her. The warmth in her chest seemed to increase, but it wasn’t from the alcohol—it was from something much deeper. Before she could process her swirling emotions, she heard Rose’s voice, gentle but firm.
"I would really love to try Aqua again," Naomi slurred, a small smile tugging at her lips. "Thank you so much, Rose. You’ve been a very good friend. I don’t know what I would have done without you."
Rose stood silently, watching her. Naomi had never been one to show weakness even do it hurt, but tonight, it was different. Naomi’s usual confidence was gone, replaced by an almost fragile vulnerability that broke Rose’s heart.
She smiled softly, moving closer. "Please lie down, Naomi. It’ll calm down if you close your eyes."
Naomi shook her head slowly, her voice unsteady. "I love my husband... very, very, very, very much. But I’m scared. What if... what if he doesn’t feel the same? What if he doesn’t feel the same?" Her words slurred even more, and her drowsy eyes flickered.
Rose stared at her, unsure of what to say. This wasn’t just alcohol talking. Naomi had always been afraid of her own feelings, afraid of giving too much of herself and getting nothing in return. It made Rose ache for her best friend even more.
"Good thing I didn’t drink too," Rose thought to herself. "I don’t even want to imagine what state I’d be in."
Naomi looked at her, almost pleadingly, as if waiting for Rose to provide the answers. It wasn’t just drunken babbling—it was a cry for reassurance. Rose swallowed hard before speaking again.
"You’re not alone in this, Naomi. You’re not," she said softly, trying to calm her. But Naomi was far from calm, and she wasn’t finished.
Naomi’s voice cracked, the vulnerability she’d shown only moments before deepening. "I miss him. I miss him so, so much."
Rose leaned in, her expression turning serious. She wasn’t just Naomi’s best friend—she was her protector. "If you miss him that much, when he comes back, don’t let him go. Hold him tight, Naomi," she said, her voice soft but filled with conviction. "But if you realize he does not care and want you... then walk away."
She wasn’t just giving advice. She was trying to save Naomi from heartbreak, from the pain that came with loving someone who might not love you back. She wasn’t going to let Naomi fall into a one-sided love again.
Naomi’s expression softened, though her head swayed from the alcohol. Her voice was still slurred, but there was a strength in her words.
"You’re right, Rosie. I won’t let him go. But... I get scared sometimes. What if the love buried inside me won’t let go? But he treats me so well... that should be enough. I think."
Rose’s heart ached as she watched Naomi. She was trying to convince herself that it was enough. But Rose knew that fear had taken root inside Naomi, and that fear wasn’t easily erased.
With a heavy sigh, Rose stepped back, trying to regain control of the situation. "Are you feeling sleepy, Mimi?"
Naomi shook her head. "No, I’m not. I want to see my hubby."
Rose raised an eyebrow, teasing despite the seriousness of the moment. "But don’t you want to see your best friend?"
Naomi giggled softly, her head shaking again. "Of course, I want to see you." Then her expression shifted, and she smirked. "But you’ll be busy. After all, you and Rylan are staying together."
Rose’s eyes widened in shock, and her cheeks immediately turned pink. She couldn’t believe what Naomi had said. "Naomi," she warned, her voice laced with embarrassment, but Naomi just giggled again, turning to face her.
"You’re blushing so hard... you like him!" Naomi exclaimed, her voice laced with amusement. There was no way Rose could deny it now.
Before Rose could react, Naomi jumped up from her bed, bouncing excitedly. Rose’s patience snapped. She immediately stood, her voice sharp with authority.
"Naomi, get back to bed!"
But Naomi grinned, shaking her head stubbornly. "Not until you say you like him!"
Rose stared at Naomi in disbelief. Who knew her best friend could act this childish when drunk? But this wasn’t a game, and she needed Naomi to calm down. She just needed to say it, knowing her friend wouldn’t let this go until she did.
"Fine. Go back to bed," Rose said, her voice exasperated.
Naomi shook her head. "No! Say it, Rosie. Say it, Rosie!" Naomi’s chant was persistent, and she started shaking Rose’s shoulders, her voice turning into a sing-song rhythm only she seemed to enjoy.
"Come on, girl. Say it, Rosie!"
Rose groaned, throwing her hands up in defeat. "Fine. I like him." She muttered it so fast that Naomi barely caught it.
Naomi narrowed her eyes, her expression unreadable. "No. Say it slowly."
Rose sighed, staring at Naomi in disbelief. There was no way she was going to win this one. "If I say it, promise you’ll go back to bed?"
Naomi nodded eagerly, swaying slightly as she did. Rose knew she wouldn’t get out of this unless she agreed.
Taking a deep breath, Rose lowered her head, covering her face as her cheeks burned from the embarrassment. Then, in a barely audible voice, she whispered, "Fine. I like Rylan."
The words were out before she could stop them, and Naomi’s grin grew even wider. But just as Rose looked up, the door creaked open.
There, standing in the doorway, was Rylan, his mouth opening and closing in shock. He had heard everything.
Rose’s panic immediately flashed on her face as she spoke.
"Naomi, go to bed as we promised. I’ve said the words, now go..." She avoided Rylan’s gaze. Naomi giggled as she walked toward the bed and laid down quietly, still laughing.
Rose turned her face to the side, then spoke again.
"Don’t mind what I said... haha, she said that if I said it, she would behave." Rose’s cheeks flushed deeply.
She didn’t even know how everything had happened. It all unfolded in a flash. The worst part was, she didn’t want to be misinterpreted. Wait—why should she care? She wasn’t supposed to. After all, there had been plenty of bad rumors about her back in college, and she hadn’t cared one bit. Why was it bothering her now?
Before Rylan could open his mouth to speak, Rhea arrived.
"Mr. Zylan... he’s here."
