Chapter 25: True Battle Against The Crimson Monster
The Crimson Rabbit descended upon Leon with its big figure covering all the sunlight from reaching him. Sharp razor claws came right sweeping at him, making the Rabbit’s intention clear.
Leon didn’t bother defending against the claws because he knew he couldn’t, so he used the short swords to parry one of them while using his Iron Skin and ducked down under the other one.
Then, he jumped into action as he used his speed and also his skill Sprint Boost to dance around the Crimson Rabbit while also attacking it occasionally.
Cuts began to form on its thick skin full of white fur as it tried to catch him again and again. However, Leon kept his full attention on the monster and narrowly dodged a lot of attacks.
Some of them even had the monster’s claws graze his cheeks, which earned him a flaring pang of pain, but it wasn’t enough to break his concentration.
He gave his all—everything he had learned, everything he could muster up—to learn the dual wielding against this foe. Of course, it was also because he couldn’t find any opening to kill the monster.
He groaned in frustration as he bent backwards to dodge a paw attack and then jumped backwards, doing a backflip before once again entering the battle.
His muscles spasmed as he slid under one of its limbs that were coming to skewer him and dug his short sword deep in its body with full force.
Blood splattered out like a fountain behind him, but his focus was only on the front. He heard the Crimson Rabbit screech in pain.
Leon snickered and quickly used his Iron Skin as he braced for the impact. The Crimson Rabbit had not stayed idle and kicked him with its hind legs.
He didn’t have time to dodge, and neither did he want to, so he used his momentum and boosted physique to jump on its hind legs.
The impact threw him into the sky, and his knees felt like they were on the verge of breaking. The Crimson Rabbit’s hind legs were the strongest part of its body, and it showed by how the monster used them to jump its massive body around.
Still, with his advancement to Level 07 and Iron Skin, he managed to get out of the collision in one piece, albeit now he was falling from the sky and the monster was waiting right beneath him.
Leon ignored the pain coming from his legs and increased his grip on the short swords. Using the rapid increase to his speed due to falling, he began to spin with the sharp blades pointing out.
The Crimson Rabbit got a little confused by his actions, but there was no time to think of anything as the spinning Leon was upon it already.
The monster slashed with its claws, raising winds upwards that slowed down Leon but only slightly.
Leon was already prepared for it, so he shifted his trajectory slightly since that was the only thing he could do, but it managed to get him past the sharp claws.
The monster saw it and opened its maw filled with sharp teeth and long fangs that could easily tear his body apart.
Using the built-up momentum, Leon crashed into the upper part of its maw, driving his sword deep into its lips, severing them from one end to the other.
His double sword attack didn’t end there as it collided with the base of its fangs. The terrible blow was muffled by the lips, but it was still enough to sever the fang from its base.
Before the Crimson Rabbit could recover from the blow and counterattack, Leon released one of the swords and picked up the fang.
Without a second thought, he drove the sharp fang into the eye of the Crimson Rabbit, damaging its whole brain and killing it.
As the monster turned into light particles, Leon dropped on the ground on his butt along with his swords. But he quickly stood up using the adrenaline rushing through his veins.
He picked up his swords and quickly approached the red glowing orb. While walking, he thought, ’It should be anytime soon. I drew a lot of blood this time.’
He leaned forward, touched the orb, and watched it disappear as if it never existed.
[Energy Orb (Level 9) +1]
’It was Level 9!? No wonder it was so strong!’
At that moment, his muscles tensed up as his instincts screamed at him about the upcoming danger.
He didn’t even think before he pushed himself forward and rolled a few times before coming to a stop. Before he even stabilized, he heard a loud thud behind him.
Leon swiftly jumped to his feet, even though the action pained him. But he was more determined to see the bastard who had been killing him.
It was then a familiar monster came into his sight.
A stocky, gorilla-like creature hunched over with arms longer than its legs. Its fists were made of hardened soil and stone, but moss and creeping vines grew all over its body, giving it a camouflaged, swampy look.
Its back had patches of fungus or mushrooms that spored slightly when it moved.
Its face was vaguely mammalian, but its eyes were completely green like polished jade marbles and glowed faintly in darkness.
Mosspounder!
Leon instantly recognized the monster as it was one of the most annoying beginner monsters that players faced. He had received tons of insults for creating this big guy.
’This guy is definitely at Tier 2. If I try to fight it, the only thing that awaits me is being stomped to oblivion.’
As much as Leon wanted to take his revenge on this bastard, he knew his limits. There was no way he could contend against the Mosspounder, especially since it specialized in heavy attacks.
’I have my speed though. It can’t catch me with its small legs.’
Thinking of that, Leon tried to run but fell forward on his face. He groaned in pain and looked down, only to find his legs entangled in grass.
’Damnation! That’s why everyone hated you. Fuck me!’
He tried to get out of the entanglement while looking at the Mosspounder who was closing in slowly toward him.
Just then, he heard thumping and his heart chilled. He was already struggling against one monster, but another one was on its way.
Before he could do anything to get out of this situation, a sharp pain registered in his mind from behind and he found sharp claws skewering him.
...
Intense pain followed as Leon screamed and rolled on his bed.
The pain of getting his heart destroyed wasn’t any less than having his skull stomped.
