Chapter 233: Nyxaria! The Mending Grimoire! The Ant Eater Grimoire! The Tentacle Grimoire!
"You pulled away so easily?"
Nyxaria was startled when she saw this, Grey’s fierce eyes were clear, devoid of any trance. She shuddered almost instinctively.
"H-How... how is this possible?"
"You’ll find out soon enough." Grey chuckled, a mysterious smile curling on his lips. But he said no more.
With <Hive Mind> active, his thoughts were completely hidden from her. That only deepened her confusion and hesitation.
Grey stepped forward, slowly, deliberately. Each step made her heart pound violently. He loomed over her now, his shadow engulfing her completely.
"So?"
"S-So?" Nyxaria echoed nervously.
"Tame?" Grey asked in a flat, unreadable tone.
"Y-Yeah." Nyxaria stuttered, but still agreed without hesitation.
The moment she accepted, a blue panel appeared in front of Grey. He confirmed it.
In the next instant, his eyes opened back to the real world. The Pink Grimoire hovered in front of him, gently nudging him as if trying to win his favor.
"Can I enter your body, master?"
"...Wording." Grey frowned at her phrasing.
His gaze shifted toward the scorched Grimoires nearby. Even beneath the crackling lightning, they still clung to life.
Of course, that had only been a casual strike from Drayken. If the lightning had been combined with Aura, every Grimoire here would’ve been completely obliterated, reduced to ash by the sheer destructive might.
But if that was the case, the burden his body would have to endure could be terrifying.
In his base form, he was still undeniably weaker than the others, those who had already progressed far beyond him.
His only real advantage lay in Lilith and the other Grimoires but even they were external tools in the end.
And at higher levels, he still hadn’t learned how to properly harness their full potential.
They were certainly useful in many ways, but when it came to fighting higher-level opponents, Grey simply wasn’t ready.
Countless thoughts flickered through his mind as he made his way toward the Male Grimoire.
He had made up his mind.
He would begin taming them.
The first one he approached was the Mending Grimoire, a Gold-ranked Grimoire that instantly caught Grey’s attention and sparked his interest.
"Human, I refuse."
"The woman you love is already in my hands," Grey said with a wicked smile. "If you want to be with her again, then you’ll have to bow to me."
"You..." The Mending Grimoire trembled with fury. It had an elf-like form, with long pointed ears and a strikingly handsome face twisted in frustration.
But in the end, it had no choice.
Reluctantly, grudgingly, it accepted reality. Satisfied, Grey moved on to the other Grimoires.
He managed to tame two more.
The others, however, remained stubborn.
For them, Grey showed no mercy.
He destroyed each one without hesitation, giving them no time to react, erasing them cleanly, ruthlessly.
"Why would I give them to my future enemies to tame?" Grey thought, his pupils gleaming with a cold light.
They were already on the verge of death. A few strong punches would’ve been enough to finish them off.
After taking care of everything, Grey began counting the Grimoires he had tamed.
Twelve in total.
Including the previous eight, Lilith included, the new additions were Nyxaria, the Mending Grimoire, the Ant Eater Grimoire, and the Tentacle Grimoire.
That made up his entire collection so far.
And Grey was far from done.
He felt a surge of excitement, a rush of momentum. With this power, he could definitely cook something up to rescue Zarek.
Especially since the Nagas, along with the Telekinetic Master, were already closing in on the Holy Temple.
But surely that woman, Mirabella, had cooked something. There was no way she’d make things so easy for him.
Grey was certain of it.
From their previous encounter, he knew she wasn’t a simple woman. She was cunning, calculating, and the sheer amount of power she wielded placed her far beyond him.
A Telekinetic Paragon.
Near the very peak of that world’s power hierarchy. The only beings stronger than someone like her were practically gods.
That thought alone was terrifying.
’Sigh, what should I even do?’ Grey felt a headache coming on just thinking about it.
And to make things worse, he still had the urgent problem of rescuing his friend.
Grey might have to face an entire kingdom and that would be truly troublesome. But if he wanted to save Lucy, then he had no choice.
She was the one who had saved him with a pure, innocent heart. Even if he hadn’t needed it at the time, Grey had never forgotten that.
To him, she was a true friend.
And he would go to any length to protect her from harm.
No matter the cost.
With that resolve, he once again treaded the path through the Mountain of Hell.
"What are you doing here, Lilith?"
"I’m here for the same reason you are," she replied, her voice calm.
"You mean to say, the once untouchable Soul Goddess was tamed by this human?"
"Of course. The first time I saw him, I instantly fell in love with his face. Kya, he is so handsome." Lilith fangirled Grey, and the hem of her book constantly nudged at his sleeves, rubbing them constantly.
Grey shrugged as he grumbled:
"Will you let me focus?"
"Yes, dear," came the immediate reply of Lilith.
Nyxaria pouted, feeling a little jealous in her heart, so jealous that she shoved away Lilith and leaped to Grey, almost sticking and gluing herself to him.
"What the hell?" Grey wanted to back out; however, his brows knitted together, and he didn’t say anything further.
Anyway, as he went through the Mountain of Hell, the temperature in the surroundings became frigid and cold, the more he travelled.
By the time he was almost to the peak of the mountain, the entire place had become a complete wasteland, and even water would instantly freeze just from the sheer cold.
Grey casually called the Bronze Fire Spirit Grimoire and scribbled some words with his quill pen.
"Let thy flame warm me."
Immediately, a spark ignited, and a fire in the shape of a woman, no larger than a palm, blazed before him.
