Chapter 175: Facing A Telekinetic Paragon!
Chapter 175: Facing A Telekinetic Paragon!
’This guy is definitely interesting,’ Zarek thought calmly in his heart. A tongue as venomous as a snake, that fake smile, and every tomfoolery possible...
’I hate everything about it.’
As a person from Earth, where individual strength meant nothing and words were greater than even weapons, he had, of course, experienced the arts of the tongue.
A manipulative way of talking that, to spectators, might make you look like the good guy, but in actuality, it was all just fake.
Eryke, on Earth, had always hated these things as if they were the bane of his existence, and this guy in front of Zarek was no different.
Zarek felt like puking from Alex’s behavior; however, he managed to control himself and not beat the shit out of him.
With a calm and cold expression on his face, Zarek followed Alex and finally arrived at a group of bulky men in armor. They looked more like knights, each with nameplates:
General Kael.
General Richard.
General Maximus.
These three generals came from three different empires. Luckily for Zarek, none of them were from the Rinehart Empire.
"Are you the famed new general from the Ragnarok Empire, General Kaine?" General Kael asked, raising his brows.
"My reputation overestimates my capability, General Kael. Your silver whip has caused everyone to bleed," Zarek said with a smile on his face.
"Haha, you are over-praising me," Kael laughed it off.
Just like that, they exchanged some pleasantries, and the whole fiasco was pretty much over. They still talked about politics and such, but Zarek wasn’t really interested in any of it.
Even though he knew he would need it someday, he wasn’t particularly inclined toward it. He might be able to become stronger through the power of the Adapt alone and become the strongest, so there was no need for him to dip his hand into politics.
However, if he needed to, then he would do so without hesitation.
Time passed in the blink of an eye.
A chilly gust of wind blew over everyone.
The cold wind brushed against Zarek’s face, and his long golden hair fluttered in the air.
His crystal-blue pupils seemed to contain an endless charm, something that couldn’t be measured.
The generals were still talking with smiles on their faces; however, there was a hidden meaning behind their words, almost like hyenas in a pack, each ready to tear the other apart at a moment’s notice.
Zarek’s ears had already grown immune to the generals’ bickering; their voices were like fading echoes to him.
The surroundings were already packed to the brim with people. Around them, there were certain unspeakable gaps, but all other areas were crowded to the point it looked like a Japanese train station after office hours.
His blue pupils subtly observed everyone and finally landed on a girl with white hair.
’Who is she?’ His gaze narrowed slightly. He had already memorized the names and appearances of all the strong ones, but this girl was someone he couldn’t place, she felt strange to him, as if she didn’t match any description.
’She is a Level Nine.’
Just as he was contemplating, a loud drum echoed through the sky, followed by a powerful announcement:
"The Emperor has arrived."
In an instant, silence fell, a pin-drop silence replacing the earlier chaos.
A storm brewed in the sky.
And a man’s figure slowly enlarged in Zarek’s vision.
Then the man gradually revealed himself, a figure wearing a golden crown and armor adorned with gold and metal.
He floated in the air, as if the sky itself were his home ground.
His entire regal demeanour commanded respect, an unspeakable authority that no one present could defy.
Zarek looked the man straight in the eyes. It was a rugged, familiar face, not from his own memories, but from Drayken’s, who stood at the corner watching the scene with Synthia.
This man, the king of the Falcon Empire, had also been one of the participants in the attack on Drayken’s wedding.
’A Telekinetic Paragon.’
Just his presence alone demanded reverence. No one in the vicinity even dared to twitch a muscle in front of him.
Fear? They felt fear.
But it was more of an instinctive response.
If someone wanted to shit right now, their body might freeze in place and refuse to even defecate.
This was the power of a Paragon, the middle-aged man with a rugged face, the power of the Falcon Empire’s Emperor.
Behind him floated numerous old men. Their presence wasn’t weak by any means, but compared to the Telekinetic Paragon, they were like mere dew on the grass, lackluster and insignificant in the shadow of the Emperor.
"Cough, cough," the middle-aged man coughed, immediately causing everyone to straighten their backs. "I am the Emperor of the Falcon Empire."
He paused, letting a heavy tension settle in the air.
"As you all know, we were defeated by those worms when he attacked during their dear princess’s wedding," the emperor spoke, his words casting a gloomy shadow over the surroundings. The atmosphere grew heavy, oppressively depressive.
"But worry not. This hunting festival will surely be our victory, as we will kill all the rogues in our lands."
The tension instantly lifted, replaced by a wave of anticipation and suppressed excitement.
"This will be a massacre, a bloody massacre where we kill all dragons outside the Dragon Kingdom! Who is with me?" he shouted.
The mere shout shook the surroundings, the very air trembling under the force of his voice.
"These mere vermin shall face our divine wrath. So, who is with me?"
"Us!"
Everyone roared in bloodthirsty unison.
The intent to kill the dragons reached an all-time peak.
"Show them the strength of our Human God, the one true supreme God!" he cried, spreading his arms to the sky and laughing.
"To our true supreme Human God!"
They echoed as one, voices united in fervor.
Zarek looked at this and shook his head. ’I wonder how many of you will even survive, let alone hunt a dragon.’
