Chapter 153 Struggle
Chapter 153: Chapter 153 Struggle
"Alright, young man, you’ve gotten all the big breaks, why the act?" The unfamiliar middle-aged man’s words were brimming with tease, and his face bore a nonchalant grin.
Wang Zijia, recognizing his confrontational tone, trembled instinctively.
"Hmm!" He grumbled, groggily opened his eyes, and asked bewildered, "Where am I? Shouldn’t I be in the Ginseng Garden?"
The middle-aged man: "······"
The scholar: "······"
The fairy maiden: "······"
"You guys really have an interesting way of raising kids in Wanyu these years!" Among the three, the middle-aged scholar chuckled lightly.
"Slightly too cunning. Are you scared we might harm him?" Said the fairy maiden with a slightly gloomy face, as she glanced at the disciples of the Flying Immortal Sect emerging on the square below.
"Tu Yu’an, don’t be ridiculous, the kid is clearly terrified." The middle-aged man was the most cheerful among the three. He laughed and said:
"But if it weren’t for this kid getting the inheritance, we would have been cleaning up the aftermath, and that would have been a real embarrassment."
Tu Yu’an?
Are these three big shots in the Perfected Realm?
Were they urgently summoned because of the changes in the Hundred Demon Bewitching Domain?
While Wang Zijia was lost in thought, the middle-aged man waved at him and said, "Alright, you can wait below for now, and I’ll personally take you back to the sect after I settle things here."
Before Wang Zijia could express his gratitude, Fairy Maiden Tu Yu’an frowned and said: "Luo Cheng, you have a nice plan there, the inheritance of Nanfei has been nurtured by our three sects for a millennium and now you want to incorporate it all into Wanyu?"
Tu Yu’an, don’t joke around. We had an agreement when we cleaned the Mysterious Domain and built the Spiritual Field. When the inheritance matured, the disciples of our three sects each demonstrated their abilities. Now, our disciple has shown outstanding talent and has won Nanfei’s favor, is the Flying Immortal Sect planning to renege?" Luo Cheng responded with a somber expression.
"True, we did agree on that. But that agreement was made a thousand years ago. Over the past millennium, my Flying Immortal Sect has invested countless talented disciples in this Mysterious Domain..." Tu Yu’an was cut off before completing her sentence, Luo Cheng interjected: "Heh, is Tu Yu’an suggesting that the efforts of our Wanyu disciples in these years have been fruitless?"
"Your Wanyu Sect does indeed have contributions but after the three of us put in a millennium, and we haven’t even seen what the inheritance of Nanfei looks like, but it has been collected by your sect. Do you think that’s appropriate?" Tu Yu’an said disdainfully.
In the course of the conversation, she turned to the scholar, who had remained silent all along, and said, "Elder Zimin, aren’t you going to say anything?"
Luo Cheng asked upon hearing her words, "Elder Zimin, do you share Tu Yu’an’s views?"
"What I think does not matter. The key issue here is that the Nanfei inheritance has opened more than two hundred years ahead of schedule, catching our disciples off guard."
"Consequently, less than three hundred of the over thousand disciples we brought with us were able to return. Given this huge loss, and the fact that your sect has obtained such benefits, how am I supposed to explain this situation to the elders?"
With a progessive expression on his face, Elder Zimin said: "Tu Yu’an means no harm. She simply wants to take a look at the treasure and discuss how to divide it up."
"Absolutely not! This is my disciple’s destiny. Not only did I, his elder, not help him, now you want me to rob him of his inheritance? I could hardly face such disgrace!" Luo Cheng said resolutely without the slightest hint of negotiation.
The giant sword behind him trembled slightly, generating a surge of sword qi, as though it was ready for a fight right there and then.
Wang Zijia, observing the increasingly tense situation, had his wheels turning. He couldn’t afford to escalate the situation, for instance, if these three started fighting, it could eventually necessitate the intervention of the three Sect elders.
As he pondered, a blood-smeared, murky piece of paper emerged in his hand. Wang Zijia passed it to Luo Cheng, "Senior, this is what I obtained in the Mysterious Domain by happenstance."
Luo Cheng looked at the blood-soaked page given by Wang Zijia. His eyebrows furrowed at the sight of the intensely ominous page dyed dark with an unidentifiable layer of dried blood.
Elder Zimin’s eyes twinkled momentarily as he looked at the page before furrowing his eyebrows as well.
Tu Yu’an stared suspiciously at Wang Zijia. Despite the fluctuating luminescence in her eyes, she wasn’t able to discern any hidden details.
There was a moment of silence, then Elder Zimin suddenly laughed, "Haha, if Elder Luo insists on being stubborn, then we shouldn’t let a little inheritance spoil our relationship, right? However, now that your sect has acquired such massive gains, I’m assuming we no longer need to compete for the quota of Class A meat field, do we?"
Upon hearing this, Luo Cheng’s lips twitched, but he couldn’t come up with a rebuttal.
"Forget it, it’s just a few spiritual objects!" Having said this, he beckoned to the disciples of the Wanyu Sect lying on the ground, one after another they were restrained by him.
He turned and left, vanishing from the Hundred Demon Bewitching Domain in the blink of an eye.
The sky was no longer a sheet of grey. The radiant sunlight was so overwhelming that Wang Zijia and others instinctively squinted their eyes.
"We didn’t do our jobs well, we deserve punishment from the Martial Uncle!" The three Martial Uncles, who had brought Wang Zijia and others, saw Luo Cheng return with only two hundred survivors. Their expressions were astonishment, they immediately sought forgiveness.
"You are not to blame for this. But this time, you do not qualify to contend for the mature Ming Device in the Mysterious Domain," Responded Luo Cheng indifferently.
"As you command!" Hearing this, all three breathed a huge sigh of relief.
With a wave of his hand, Luo Cheng cast out the hundreds of unconscious disciples behind him and said: "After we get back, send them to the Demon Suppressing Tower for a month of observation. Those who are alright can be released, for those who aren’t, get the Pill Institute to take care of them."
"Understood!" The three responded immediately.
"Keep an eye on them; we’ve lost enough people already, we can’t afford to lose more." Luo Cheng paused his movement, and added a word of caution.
"Yes, we will surely take good care of them." The three Martial Uncles responded solemnly.
Luo Cheng nodded and with a wave of his hand, summoned a giant sword, transforming it into a flying boat. He then, along with the remaining four people, caught them all and ascended the flying sword.
Other than Gu Xuefeng and Lu Qianrou, Wang Zijia didn’t recognize the two others. All four of them were conscious at the moment but didn’t look too good.
Even Lu Qianrou, who seemed to be in the most normal state, was now showing an icy expression even when facing Luo Cheng. She seemed to be freezing, with no sign of easing, clearly recalling the humiliating scene where she danced and threw herself at the others in the Great Hall.
For a pampered lady like her, such a dark history was simply unbearable.
"This time, the sect indeed made some miscalculations. According to the Calculation Faction, it was supposed to erupt at least two hundred years from now," Luo Cheng glanced at the five of them and continued, "But this should serve as a lesson to all of you to understand the need for prudence whenever you’re dealing with Sinners."
