Chapter 805: Chapter 449: This Woman, Definitely Not Human! (5K)_2
"King, the Torch Academy is requesting that we share intelligence on the source of the disaster. What should we do...?"
"Approved!"
...
Enveloped in grey mist, across a land of withered wood and ruined architecture, two streams of golden light wrapped in divine grace zipped through the low skies, startling an array of Mysterious Evil creatures below.
They were from Torch Academy, two unremarkable core students, twin brothers.
Dragon-Tao One.
Dragon-Tao Two.
Their mission was fraught with danger. To say that the brothers were not at all afraid would be untrue.
But to retreat? That was not an option.
For even a drop of kindness received, they were determined to repay with a spring’s worth.
For the grace of the Mythical teachings they received, they would gladly walk through fire and water for the organization, for their mentors!
Furthermore,
they were now mythical beings themselves, brimming with endless strength. They were full of youthful vigor; they were completely ablaze.
"Fight!"
For the cleansing project, mythicals would work in pairs to locate and secure the target, the source of the disaster.
Teaming up ensured that they retained at least a modicum of resistance in the face of great peril.
Only then could they hold out until reinforcements arrived.
The source of disaster that the Dragon-Tao brothers were tasked with was a bit further from the academy. As they flew, they constantly refreshed the mission information panel, learning that a squad had already cleared the Mysterious Evil around the disaster and led Xiao Huan to break the target.
They were falling behind.
"Don’t worry," the elder brother counseled more steadily, "Our mission assignment was already scheduled for later. According to the plan, it won’t be our turn for another 1800 seconds. We must strictly comply with the mission requirements, neither too fast nor too slow."
The elder brother had meticulously read through the mission brief and attended the pre-battle briefing.
He knew all too well that haste was not advantageous.
The brothers needed to arrive at the designated battlefield at a specific time. To be too early could disrupt the arrangements of the senior figures within the academy.
They were mythical, keen for battle achievements, yet above all, following orders was their primary duty.
Moreover, being mythical... didn’t seem to be all that noble.
They had once looked up in awe, seldom seeing the backs of mythicals, but now, as mythicals themselves within the vast environment of Torch Academy, they became even more humble.
"We’re nearly there," said the elder brother. "Be cautious."
"Got it!"
The brothers slowed their flight and heightened their vigilance to the maximum, spreading their psychic senses from their foreheads far and wide, surveying the land for kilometers ahead.
"Found it!"
In the distance, a filthy black river cut through the earth, raging toward the end of their vision.
In the regions outside the Oasis, most rivers appeared polluted, and many had a grey-black hue. However, the river they saw now was extraordinarily murky, as if it were one of those Oases directly shrouded by corrupting forces.
In the middle of this tainted river, the surface bulged abruptly, forming an enormous, boil-like mass.
From this mass radiated an intense, ominous, and terrifying aura.
It instilled fear, causing one’s scalp to tingle!
A common Awakener who stumbled upon this colossal boil might go mad on the spot, degenerating into a zombie. The Dragon-Tao brothers, being mythical, steadied their minds and focused the light of their will, suppressing the sudden discomfort that surged forth, though they still felt their hearts racing.
"This must be the source of the disaster."
"Big brother, watch as I break it!"
Dragon-Tao Two suddenly threw a punch.
His Cannon Punch, infused with thunder and lightning, tore through the air with a roaring sound, clearing away the billows of clouds. Following the obliteration of dozens of Common Mystic Evil, this peak-level Cannon Punch landed directly on the disaster source.
Then, nothing happened.
"With our strength alone, we’re far from being able to destroy the mark of the Evil God. We only need to report the information and clear the surrounding Mid-to-High-Rank Strange Evil."
The Mysterious Evil on the ground proved no challenge; there was not even one Seven Stars among them, just over a dozen Six Stars, and gathered around the source of the disaster, possibly millions upon millions of Mysterious Evil Tide.
They were many in number, but the brothers did not need to exterminate all of these Mysterious Evil.
The brothers began their hunt.
But as soon as they delved into the Evil Tide, moving closer to the source of disaster, their expressions drastically changed.
All around them, terrifying figures began to emerge.
Four servants of the Evil God, two rare Seven Stars Evil creatures, and a considerable number of Common Evil God minions.
It was a trap.
And their psychic senses had wholly failed to detect it.
"Cackle cackle cackle—"
"Damn it!"
Dragon-Tao One quickly revised the report, but before he could finish, the cackling stopped abruptly.
A slender hand tore through space, ripping the body of the Evil God’s servant to shreds.
In the next instant, the owner of the hand appeared near the brothers, smacking their lips, "What an ugly laugh."
The Evil God servant slowly fell.
Their eyes filled with disbelief, as though to say, "You lack honor."
"To fight the Evil God’s dogs, there’s no need for honor. Let’s fight shoulder to shoulder!"
Xiao Huan shouted.
Then realized, it seemed that there were fewer on their side after all.
Oh, then it didn’t matter.
...
The Evil God minions met their end quite peacefully.
They were numerous and had set trap runes all around, but to Xiao Huan, who could freely travel through space, fixed runes were meaningless.
Numbers had no significance in the face of absolute power.
Soon, as An Jianyou summoned several Seven Stars Mystic Evil, they gained the upper hand in the mythical-level combat.
A slight advantage in numbers.
A crushing superiority in power.
