Chapter 133: Mana Gathering Field

Chapter 133: Chapter 133: Mana Gathering Field

Thanks to Lake’s training program, everyone’s Fitness Index and Mana levels had greatly increased over a short period of time.

Classes like Instructor Bane’s Practical Training had to be constantly adjusted to accommodate their rapid improvement.

Inside the training hall, Lake’s Practical Training class had just ended.

The boys sprawled out on one side of the hall, their chests rising and falling rapidly as they gasped for air.

"Wheeze!"

"...My lungs... they’re killing me..."

"Please, someone... knock me out... I would rather... be unconscious... than to live another second like this..."

"Hah...Hah... I think... I’m going to throw up..."

"Bastard... Don’t you dare throw up next to me!"

Some of them were hunched over on the ground, looking like they were about to throw up, while others hurriedly dragged their exhausted bodies far away from those students.

"Sob... I hate this..."

The girls weren’t faring any better

Lying against the wall, they tried their best to hide their disgraceful side in front of the boys but it was useless.

Some of them could already feel their lunch trying to jump out of their stomach while others shed tears from the pain that their aching bodies were in.

Lake stood nearby, his entire body drenched in sweat as he tried to calm his rapid breathing.

At this point, even Lake firmly believed that the Instructors weren’t human.

After having roughly figuring out his Fitness Index, they had created a special training course tailor made for him to do separately from the rest of the class.

This course was so difficult that even Lake, who had the stamina comparable to a Martial Warrior, felt like dying.

Lake knew that if it wasn’t for his Mana Heart’s passive recovery effect, he would have been lying lifelessly on the ground with the rest of the students.

He wasn’t the only one to receive a special training course.

Kate walked over using a towel wrapped around her neck to wipe off the sweat on her face.

Lake could see that she was also on the verge of collapse as she leaned against the wall next to him.

After a long period of silence she finally spoke up with great difficulty.

"...The instructors... are really demons..."

"No. They’re worse than demons." Lake replied with a serious expression.

"?"

Kate looked slightly puzzled at his reply.

Having met Elisabeth and the others, Lake felt that he could confidently say that the group of Instructors were far more terrifying than actual demons.

Looking at everyone, he wondered if they would even be able to come to his training course in their current condition.

Barf!

Suddenly, a few students began vomiting on the floor of the training hall.

The smell was so rancid that everyone nearby either turned green or directly vomited, setting off a chain reaction.

"..."

Lake covered his nose as he frowned.

’They’re definitely not coming...’

Sighing, he thought for a moment before spreading out a little bit of his mana, casting a Mid Level Recovery Field spell.

Kate stared blankly at Lake as she felt her body gradually begin to recover.

Although Lake’s Awakened abilities have been mostly unverified, she did know he had a healing ability from the time she led fifty students to face off against him.

At that time she had injured him with a slash from her sword, but with just a casual wave, he sealed the wound and stopped the bleeding.

Seeing how he used a similar ability, this time not to heal himself, but everyone around him, Kate figured that his strength must have improved tremendously since then.

She knew that Lake was the reason for everyone’s rapid improvement, but when compared to the rate at which Lake himself improved, it didn’t feel like they were improving all that fast.

This made her feel both depressed and relieved.

She was depressed that the gap between them seemed to be increasing instead of decreasing, while also relieved knowing that Lake was on her side.

After their agreement yesterday, Kate had already arranged for her guild to make a move, blocking most people from investigating the identity of The King while deterring those who were intent on finding out.

She still hadn’t explained her intentions to her father, but she had already formulated a plan for dealing with him.

....

After Lake cast the recovery spell, everyone was able to move around again after a short break.

When the staff saw the mess in the training hall, they had a knowing gaze as they called over some cleaners with great familiarity.

When Lake saw this, he wondered whether this would become a common occurrence in the future.

Luckily, the staff didn’t force Lake and the rest to stick around and shortly after, they all arrived at the training grounds behind the arena.

Standing in front of everyone, Lake’s gaze briefly swept through the crowd.

After two weeks, a few more students had joined the program. Most of the new students were Second Years who ranked at the bottom of their respective classes. After Lake had investigated, it seemed that they joined because they were falling behind the rest of their class.

He also found out about something happening in the second year grade, but decided to ignore it for now.

[Allies - 1/150 (139 allies waiting to be advanced)]

Looking at the system, he needed only eleven more people to join his side to reach 150 allies.

However, besides from Kate, who had reached the level of High Rank Martial Warrior through her awakening, he still needed to train the rest of them to meet the system’s requirements.

After briefly glancing through their fates, Lake got a grasp of everyone’s level and thought that it was finally time to take the training program to the next step.

Using his Magic Eye, he observed the formation and saw passed the concealment array, revealing the mana hidden beneath the earth.

As he saw how much had gathered overnight, a light smile appeared on his face.

"I can see that all of you have completed your assignments. That’s great, as it makes things easier for me."

"As a reward for everyone’s hard work, I’ve prepared a special surprise for everyone today. I hope you like it." Lake slowly spoke with a mysterious smile.

Connecting himself to the formation, he deactivated the concealment array.

Whoosh!

Suddenly, a very thin bluish mist started to rise up from the ground, enveloping the surroundings.

The students were quickly alarmed when they saw this phenomenon. Some thought it was a poisonous gas and quickly held their breath while others stood in a daze, mystified by the beautiful mist.

"This..." Kate who stood at the side was the first to realize that something was wrong.

Sensing carefully with her own mana, her eyes widened as she came to a realization.

Turning her gaze to Lake who stood calmly with the blue mist swirling around him, Kate suddenly felt a shiver crawl up her spine as she saw the look in his eyes.

She had seen that look on a few occasions now and each time it had left her terrified.

It was the same look that the instructors held when they watched their students, the look of a demon...

"No need to be alarmed. The mist is just purified mana that has been condensed. You can try absorbing some with your Mana Circulation Technique."

When everyone heard Lake’s explanation, they carefully sensed the blue mist surrounding them.

After they confirmed that the mist was really mana, a few students hurriedly tried to practice their Circulation Techniques.

After attending a few of Lake’s lectures and understanding some of the key principles, many students had already partially modified their own techniques, making them far more efficient at absorbing and purifying mana.

As everyone circulated their techniques, the blue mist slowly drifted toward them, flowing into their bodies.

It didn’t take long before some students stopped circulating their techniques to quickly sense the changes in their bodies.

To their pleasant surprise, they realized that the amount of mana they had absorbed was at least three times as much compared to before!

Seeing that these students wanted to start practicing again, Lake released his King’s Aura, causing everyone to stop what they were doing.

"I know everyone must be eager to practice but there’s no rush."

"From now on, the training grounds shall be called the Mana Gathering Field and will be open for everyone to use whenever they see fit, so don’t feel like you’re missing out."

"The Mana Gathering Field was created by absorbing mana from the surrounding and keeping it trapped within the confines of the training grounds. In the future, when you practice your Mana Circulation technique here, you can get ten times the reward with half the effort!"

Everyone was excited when they heard Lake’s words. Some were thinking about how they planned to train here in the future while others were thinking about how Lake created such a miraculous formation.

For now however, they were all forced to calm down under Lake’s King’s Aura.

At this point, Lake had a wide smile on his face.

"Now, since the Mana Gathering Field has been established, my training program is going to go through a few changes."

"Before, we focused on practicing mana control and learning about mana through my lectures, but all of you have already reached the most basic level of mana control and some of you have already grasped a few basic principles of Mana Theory."

"Because of this, we’re going to be incorporating some practical training into our sessions from now on."

As Lake’s words fell, everyone’s expression suddenly turned slightly pale.

This was especially so when they heard the term "practical training".

Everyone had already experienced the hell-like practical training that the Academy had placed them through. When they heard Lake even mention the words "practical training", they all turned pale.

However, when they thought of it again, they realized that Lake was also a student like them.

He had also gone through the same Practical Training as them so he should also be feeling some repulsion towards that kind of hell mode training, right?

Besides, how difficult could Lake’s practical training be when compared to the demon instructors, who had been at this for many years now?

At this thought, some students gained a small boost of confidence.

However, in only a few minutes, Lake would make them come to regret their previous thoughts.

"How many of you have heard about Limit Training?"

"?"

Many students were confused at Lake’s sudden question, but the Sacred Class students all had a different expression on their face.

Kate, who had mostly overcome her trauma from that time, suddenly wore a stiff expression as she quietly attempted to leave the training grounds.

"Kate! Do you mind helping me out?"

However, before she could leave, Lake suddenly called out to her.

’...What did I do to deserve this?’
