Chapter 119: Blue Sun

Chapter 119: Chapter 119: Blue Sun

"Master, we’ll arrive at the Moonlight Theater in the next half an hour."

"Half an hour? Was the Moonlight Theater so far from our headquarters before?"

"No, it was originally a much shorter drive. However, due to the festival, the streets are overcrowded and several traffic jams have piled up all over the city."

"Is that so?"

Hearing that he still had a while to go before he reached the theater, Arthur Blackheart sighed.

Originally, he was extremely excited after hearing from his daughter, after all, their relationship had been rather tense lately. When he heard she wanted something, he was prepared to do it at any cost.

But when he heard that it was a favor to go somewhere in the city, he was utterly flabbergasted.

He had expected that she wanted something hard to get or even something related to the guild as it wasn’t often that she asked for a favor.

The last time she asked for a favor was over three years ago when she was fifteen. At that time, she had asked for money to start up a side business to earn her own money and become self reliant.

At first he thought it was quite cute and granted the money. Even though starting a business required an extensive capital, it wasn’t much money when compared to the total income of the guild so he didn’t mind spending that little bit of money to satisfy his daughter’s desires.

However, when she came back next year and repaid the money he had lent her twice over, he was in shock for a long time.

Ever since then, she had never once asked for a favor from him again as she could get most things with her own hands.

It was only then that he had come to realize just how ambitious of a daughter he had.

He used to think of her as his adorable little girl who he would continue to love and dote on for the rest of time, but before he knew it, she had become someone aspiring to surpass him and take over the mantle of Guild Master!

As the car slowly inched forward in the almost standstill traffic, Arthur continued to reminisce on the past.

"Hm?"

As Arthur gazed out the window of the car, he noticed something in the sky that left him momentarily dazed.

"What the hell is that?"

Far up in the sky, Arthur could see an almost sun-like orb of blue and white light burning radiantly in the night sky.

Although the Lunar mana in the sky caused the city to look as if it was day, it didn’t stop the bright blue ball of fire from standing out.

Many people had already noticed the strange abnormality in the sky, with several people recording the bizarre sight with their phones on the street.

Suddenly, Arthur had a bad premonition.

"Which direction is the theater in from here?"

"H-huh? Ah, yes, the theater is towards the center of the city. We’re currently on the eastern road heading there so it would be this way." The driver, slightly startled by his Master’s sudden question, hurriedly replied as he pointed in a certain direction.

Seeing that the direction he was pointing in was the same as the blue sun, Arthur’s instincts told him that his premonition was most likely true.

"Send a message back to the guild. Ask all available hunters above master class to stop what they’re doing and immediately head towards the Moonlight Theater."

Understanding the gravity of his words, the driver instinctively calmed down as he replied in a firm tone.

"Yes sir!"

After leaving the message, Arthur opened the car door before stepping out of the car.

"M-master, where are you going?" The driver was slightly startled by Arthur’s action of stepping out of the car in the middle of the street.

"It would take too long to get there with the traffic. I’m going to move ahead on my own."

"Understood." As the driver replied, he had already begun to write and send the message for reinforcements to headquarters.

Arthur looked at the blue sun burning high up in the sky as his face slowly hardened.

His original smile and joyful mood from his daughter’s call had dropped from his face and was replaced by a battle hardened expression.

"Oh my lovely daughter, just what have you gotten your father involved in?"

....

Across the city, a strange incident started to emerge.

There were originally several hunters walking through the street and enjoying the festival with their families and friends when they all suddenly received a message on their phones.

After receiving the message, the hunters all stopped what they were doing and left, heading towards the center of the city.

People who knew would recognize most of these hunters to be the prominent figures of the Blackheart Guild, one of the biggest guilds in Moonbright city.

However, it wasn’t only the Blackheart Guild that was making a move, but countless other guilds had started to move after all seemingly sensing something.

Many people who witnessed this scene felt chills run down their spine as they all knew something must have happened.

However, none of the hunters said a thing as they all just quietly made their way towards the center of the city.

The blue sun in the sky acting as if a prelude to disaster.

....

Inside the auditorium filled with a terrified audience, the horrific play continued to play out under the charming woman’s control.

Twenty people had already died under the mad performance put on by the terrorist, yet they showed no signs of stopping.

Among the audience, a young man sat with sweat dripping down his forehead.

He couldn’t move, nor could he speak, but sticking out of his chest, a small camera lens could be seen.

His name was Leon Ashward, and after accidentally stumbling across the battle between two beast tribes, became famous after recording the scene of a hunter leading one of the tribes.

He managed to sign a contract with a large hunter news agency and finally started his career as an official reporter.

However, luck wasn’t on his side and after stumbling around for over two months, he barely managed to get any decent news as all the trendy ones were taken by the senior reporters.

Eventually he had gotten forgotten about again.

Since all the good news was being taken by the senior reporters, he decided to set his eyes on the less known Moon Bright Festival for his next report.

Although not completely related to hunters, it was also a unique festival in its own right so he would be able to publish it under the Hunters News agency.

But who would’ve known that as soon as he tried to take a break and watch a play, he would end up as the victim of a terrorist attack?

But that wasn’t even the craziest thing, as soon as the terrorist was revealed, Leon had instinctively turned on the hidden camera on his vest before he was suppressed onto the chair.

In a life or death situation, instead of running for his life, Leon’s first instinct was to start recording.

He felt the situation comically laughable.

Originally when he had recorded the video of The King leading the spider army, he was in a position to run away at a few points in time, but throughout the entire event, not once did he move.

His mind was telling him to run, but his body refused.

When he was suppressed onto the chair and realized what he had done, Leon started to question whether his mind and body had their priorities mixed up.

However, since the situation had already come to this, there was nothing he could do but hope he survived yet another life threatening ordeal.

Because if he does, he knew that he would have stumbled upon the scoop of a lifetime.

After all, he doubted that there would be anyone as insane as him who would choose to turn on their camera before saving their own life, and even if there was, he doubted they were in this building with him.

Watching the bloody play unfolding before him, Leon was silently grateful for the fact that he got a seat towards the back of the auditorium overlooking the entire room.

....

As hunters scrambled across the streets and made their way towards the Moonlight Theater, high up in the sky, imbedded in the "blue sun", Lake stood before the massive rift that was being attacked with mana from all sides.

Others may not have been able to sense it without specialized equipment, but Lake could see it clearly with just his eyes.

The rift was about to collapse.
