Chapter 665: What happened to 665?

Ye Gaosheng made his way to the main courtyard, but to his surprise, he found his father was also there.

Furthermore, the expressions on their elderly faces were somewhat sad, causing Ye Gaosheng’s heart to ache.

He blamed himself; he had clearly said earlier that he would hand over all the money to his mother for management. Yet, on the second day after getting married, he had thought of taking the money back, which was truly improper.

Seeing Mrs. He’s somewhat red eyes, Ye Gaosheng guiltily spoke up, "Mother, don’t be sad. From now on, I’ll let you manage all the money I earn. We won’t handle it ourselves anymore."

Mrs. He snapped back, "What the hell are you talking about, you rascal? It’s not about money at all. I called you here to discuss your younger sister’s issue. Have you got money on your mind?"

The tension inside Ye Gaosheng didn’t subside; instead, it escalated. "My younger sister? What’s happened to her? What’s the matter?"

Mrs. He’s tears started flowing freely, causing Ye Gaosheng, who had never seen her cry before, to feel a sudden pang. He had a bad feeling. "Mother, what exactly happened to my younger sister? Please, hurry and tell me?"

"Your younger sister was taken away by Prince Jing..." Mrs. He covered her forehead, looking as if she might faint.

Ye Gaosheng: "..."

"So she was taken away; it’s fine. Prince Jing won’t harm her. Once they go to the estate and clear up the sweet potato matter, they will come back. Please don’t cry, Mother!" This crying had made him think some terrible tragedy had occurred. It turned out it was just this!

"What sweet potato matter?" Ye Gaosheng’s words were very effective at stopping tears, and with these words, Mrs. He forcibly held back the tears she wanted to shed.

Following that, Ye Gaosheng explained the tasks Ye Jiu had to take care of at the estate today. Then, Mrs. He and Old Man Ye exchanged glances, suddenly feeling a sense of calm wash over them. Yet, they felt embarrassed by their own reactions.

This back and forth felt almost like a dream. Mrs. He asked Ye Gaosheng, "Are you sure that once the matter is settled, they will send back your younger sister?"

"Of course," Ye Gaosheng replied as if it were obvious.

If they don’t send her back, do they plan to keep her for the New Year? He really wondered what his parents thought about all day.

Could it really be that as they grew older, they became prone to foolish thoughts? Or perhaps, was it because they were too idle this year?

Thinking about the past years at this time, his father worried about how to earn more money, and his mother considered how many eggs the chickens had laid today, and how to save a bit on food. But now, the old couple were neither short of food nor drink, yet they had nothing else to do all day but stay at home. It really was quite idle.

Ye Gaosheng thought to himself whether he should find something for his parents to do to keep them from going on and on about nothing.

His younger sister was a treasure in their home, but that didn’t necessarily mean she would be treasured in someone else’s home, especially by someone as distinguished as Prince Jing.

On Ye Jiu’s end, it was only when the sky dimmed that her day gradually came to an end.

The entire day, although she didn’t need to do anything, she had to sit and watch, and by the end of the day, she felt as uncomfortable all over as if she were covered in worms.

When Ye Jiu was preparing to get on the carriage to go home with Ye Changsheng, Prince Jing called out to her, "Jiujiu."

Such a gentle and somewhat sympathetic address made Ye Jiu puzzled for a moment.

Turning around, Ye Jiu looked at Prince Jing, who had mounted his horse, "Are you calling me, Prince?"

"I have something to talk to you about," said Prince Jing as he walked over to her. "Let’s ride a horse; I’ll take you home."

"Okay," Ye Jiu thought Prince Jing wanted to talk about the sweet potato matter, so she didn’t think much of it.

She extended her hand to Prince Jing, stepped on the stirrup, pushed herself up with his help pulling from above, and easily sat in front of him on the horse.
