The streets were silent, with only the sound of horse hooves tapping.

When they arrived at the city gate, which was closed, the soldiers swiftly opened the gates for Sikong Mo after he showed his waist token, not daring to make a single careless move.

After leaving the city, the sky grew even darker, with only the moonlight shining on the ground, guiding their way forward.

Ye Jiu did not know how much farther they had to go, but the jolting ride was making her exceptionally drowsy.

Gradually, leaning against Sikong Mo, Ye Jiu slowly drifted into sleep.

When Ye Jiu awoke again, she opened her eyes to find herself lying in bed with Sikong Mo sitting beside her, gazing at her steadily.

Embarrassed, Ye Jiu looked outside at the bright sky and asked stupidly, "What time is it now?"

"It’s already morning. You fell asleep yesterday, and since you were so tired, I didn’t wake you," Sikong Mo explained.

Yet Ye Jiu exclaimed, "It’s morning already? Oh no, Wenzheng and my fourth brother will be worried sick if they can’t find me."

"No need to worry. I sent someone to inform them. I told them that you were dealing with something important with me and wouldn’t return last night. You don’t need to be concerned, Jiujiu," Sikong Mo reassured her.

Ye Jiu sighed in relief, "That’s good. It’s just I’ve caused so much trouble for Young Master Sikong."
